The ship was in a fine state. The interior was polished to where the reflection repeated on forever as the light bounced to and fron the parts of the ship. The chair was even polished, although a heavily-armoured commander sat in it. The main screen showed the ongoing battle, but the secondary screens showed some coding and imagery, depicting what seemed to be Wyre Phrame. But it wasn't that... it was something different...

Barnaos kept typing up more code onto the secondary screen, as the image didn't change at all. He grinned at the sight of the finished code, but then set it all aside once more to concentrate on the battle. He didn't know whether or not to be happy that his creation was working, or angry that he wasn't fighting this battle himself. He couldn't decide...

---------------------

After rolling for a bit, Wyre Phrame stopped, turned its beady eyes towards the beams, and rolled towards them, gaining as much speed as it possibly could. After getting hit by the beams and being sent in the air really high, completely dodging the arc of energy behind the beams, it began shifting shape once more.

It became the rod real quickly and then began forming another form. However, this form was different. It was too... too familiar.

The newly formed wireframe body looked exactly like the clones of Ninetails, except the fact that it was a complete wireframe model. It slammed into the ground, kicking up purple fog from the impact. The fake raised its blaster arm up and aimed it at Y. David. The blaster gathered around darkness around it, and then it shot out a wireframe blast of darkness towards him, dark fog emitting from the frames from the blast.

----------------------------
OOC: For the first part, it is going to add to the story later on... maybe not in this battle, but you will see...

*thinks*
Ummm... OMG! IT WILL BE AWESOME!

Wait, we have different visions. I see a hack where Mario is really sitting on the couch while the action goes on the screen. Would require a lot of ASM to do right though.

Seriously, this has no screenshots. Therefore, after this would probably be a mod to close this or would be a few members saying "No screens."

So if I were you, I would post screenshots now. Otherwise, this will go nowhere.

Mott: No crap the story doesn't affect gameplay. What will you tell us next? Palettes are colors? Also, why can't you wait for a demo if you don't know what this hack looks like?

Seeing Trent narrowly escape from his attack as the walls closed, Mewquas was annoyed.

Mewquas: "GRR! That attack was perfect. How could it have failed?"

Mewquas pulled out his Irken Blaster, aimed it at Trent, and fired. A huge bolt of light shot out at Trent, warping the air around it with its intense heat.

This isn't a hard program at all to use. It just takes some time to get right, but is powerful once you know what to do.

Great work d4s. Can't wait to see what else you can do.

One question: Where are the graphics for the new Nintendo logo found? Also, what if I wanted to change the color of the fade-out during pause? Where would I go to change that? Just being curious and strange.

I have played Nintendogs... about eight times in the time I have had it. Advance Wars... ummm... too many times to count.

I am only on mission 15, and am having a bit of a hard time with that one. Apparently, it involves distracting the enemy a lot. Great...

I like the team battles, though. Yeah, it is harder with one CO, but when playing with my friends, nothing is better than handing them their defeat by using Sami and Sonja. Using Sonja first, I wipe out all of their forces because they almost have no terrain defence. Then I load up an APC, move it close to their HQ, drop the infantry/mech, and then change to Sami, which I then capture their HQ in one fell swoop. They never see it coming, especially if it is from a transport copter.

Then there is the team of Jake and Sami. Jake kills the armored enemies with his tanks and then Sami wipes out all infantry with her own while stealing bases and cities from the enemy. And my friends suck at not realizing my powers and using their own powers to their extent (and if I say that Colleen makes cheaper units but they are weaker and they complain about using him one more time...).

Well, one good thing is that my friends don't go all out with Neotanks anymore, but concentrate on Megatanks. Heh. They then wonder how I got their huge attack force down to 1HP. Gotta love the Black Bombs.

Yeah, I do find the campaign mode a bit too easy though. The only tough part for me so far was mission 9, and that was because it first introduced the secondary front and dropped bombs on the middle base. That was still easy, though. Once I figured out what to do...

So yeah, still need to play it more. I just play it at school and work. At school, I do Versus with my friends and do some of the campaign if I have the time to squeeze in a mission. At work, whatever I feel like. I should play it at home...

Ok, a few questions about this game.

1. What system is it for?
2. How does the game work? Semi-RPG semi-platformer doesn't help. Is it a fast paced almost beat-em-up style of gameplay or what?

Also, is it something to keep playing over and over again or just to design something? If it is one or the other, than I want it. Those creations look awesome! Makes me want to do Mario or something...

Hmmm... anyone tried a Spartan yet?

Mewquas: "Boba Fett?"

Mewquas was confused. Who was this Boba? What did he do?

It didn't matter, as Trent clearly knocked Mewquas off of the building and made him fall flat on his back. He was aching as he got up. He shook his head and concentrated.

Mewquas: "FOOL! You think that this is just a jetpack? Obviously you have no clue about the Irken race, do you?"

The backpack object which the jetpack ignited from shot out four legs, ball jointed and long. The legs allowed Mewquas to have increased mobility and some other things.

The legs positioned themselves parallel to each other, the points now facing Trent. A blue light emitted from the points and they joined together. Then the light fired a square beam square (hey, a pun!) at Trent. The beam would either hit Trent or cause a rectangular piece of the building to come crashing down when the beam cut through it.

William walked in, dressed up in the same armor as the subjects of the SPARTAN II project. It was a dark blue color, except the faceplate, which was a shiny gold.

When he reached the middle of the room, he took off the helmet and began panting a whole lot.

William: "God, this armor is heavy! Geez... I need a break for a minute."

He waltzed on over to a nearby couch which he collapsed on. He sat himself up and looked around. He then asked a general question.

William: "So... ummm... now that I am judging now, what exactly do you need me to do right now, if anything? I know I have to judge, but is there anything to judge right now?"

William could sense some aggravation between the contestants. He felt that something was needed to be done, and soon.

William glanced out from the stands, smelling a fight in the air. He was glad to keep watch over every battle that took place in his domain, but he preferred taking part in battles instead of observing.

Finally was his moment to participate in the tourney somehow. He couldn't join in the middle of it, and he couldn't judge until now. He was ready. He was pumped.

He jumped up into the air and slammed into the ground, making dirt rings emerge from his feet. He stood up and nodded his head.

William: "So, you needed some help judging? Well, then here I am."

William shifted his eyes to see Schwa use an attack at Star. He looked a bit more carefully to see that he was drunk. He sighed.

"Great, a psi warrior drunk. Now I have seen... well, not everything. Haven't seen a drunk car go on a date with a cow. Ok, my imagination is broke to say something like that... ummm..."

William then reached behind him and pulled out his sword, the Black Thorn. He held it in front of him and leaned on it, the point in the ground.

"So... I guess I'll wait to be noticed before I attack..."

Got anymore names for Legault?

Well, for fighting skills, I would say... ummm... Legault wins. Both of you did very well, but in this one, I say Legault.

Both of you were detailed. Both of you were great with the attacks and attention to detail, but Legault took some extra risks. Attacking a summon, charging an attack. Some risks go a long way and can be deadly.

So... ok, first one down, others to go judge...

William felt the dark energy from Schwa. He felt it before, as many Windonian soldiers were trained in evil magic skills, dark magic to be precise. He raised his sword and looked at the tainted hero.

"Whoa now, that ain't right. Something is not right... I know of no enemy forces around here, so it isn't them... weird..."

He then came up with something... stupid.

"Oh no. IT'S AN EVIL TWIN!"

He leaped into the air and landed behind Schwa. He quickly brought his sword into the air and slashed down, but at the last second before touching Schwa, his feet burst flames from underneath, sending him into the air. The force of the sword swinging caused William to start flipping up into the air. Gravity took hold, and William came crashing down, the flipping going faster and faster. As he reached the ground, the slash became very powerful and would send Schwa flying forward if hit.

Either way, William landed and tried to stand up straight. After flipping many times, William couldn't help but be dizzy.

"Ugh... ooohhhh... world... spinning... gah..."

William started swaying from side to side, trying to focus his attention to what happened. Hopefully, he wasn't attacked at this time, but then again, if Schwa moved at this time and Star happened to dodge the dark move... well, William would be hurt... from Star.

Barnaos could sense something wrong when the new summon was in play. After it created a holy arrow. The arrow was shot, and he was waiting for it to hit Wyre Phrame. It would create a very powerful version of his prototype and would show its true power then.

However, after the arrow disappeared, he grew angry. The form created from that arrow would have made the mech even more powerful. His anger made a dark aura appear around him, as he paid no attention behind him as the arrow appeared in his ship and crashed into his helmet. The arrow dissolved into dust from the powerful dark energy around him, and while he was mad, he kept calm. He felt a little pain in the back of his head, but the darkness nulled and healed the pain. He held his hand out and grabbed hold of a sphere that emerged from his control panel. He transferred dark energy into this sphere, as it went from red to purple. The sphere then vanished, and Barnaos glanced at the screen. He was now waiting for an opening...

----------------------------

Wyre Phrame sensed new objects headed towards it, but it couldn't easily dodge them. It was hit, almost falling back, but not really. It began changing forms once again, this time turning into a wireframe of a man with sunglasses and a suit. A bit of Matrix code was seen flowing throughout the wires. It began talking.

"Well, look what we have here. A summoner, it seems. Let me show you my summon for a change, shall we?"

Just then, the foot of the agent shot out another rod, that one assembling into another wired agent. Then both of them did the same thing. And then once more they did the same thing.

What started as one mech turned out to be eight mechs, all identical to the parent, but each generation weaker than the previous one. The fake agents all grinned, code flashing green throughout their red structures. They waited for a move before execution of their move. After all, why attack with seven weaklings when you can use them for defence?

Really? That was the reason I hated this hack. Too many of those, and that one in Crystal Mines 2 was too much. I went through it with the key and now I can't do it again...

Well, then, there better be a bit more level design in place of those. The HDMA effects are a nice touch, although they don't add to the level itself. They add a nice feel, though.

Hopefully, this will now be a very decent hack. I hope so...

Posted on 09-20-05 08:32 AM, in Revenge never tasted like metal... until now Link
I have been eagerly awaiting for this game to come out, playing the third one a lot more. Finally, it came out this week. I bought it, and I have to say I am not dissappointed.

Burnout Revenge is a racing/crashing game, where depending on the mode you have to do stuff. Sometimes, you will have to race other cars for first place. Other times, you have to cause the biggest crash ever.

So to begin with, I did Traffic Attack, not knowing what exactly I am doing since this is a new mode. After changing the settings to allow me to listen to my custom soundtrack (which consists of mainly My Chemical Romance and Franz Ferdinand, with some Breaking Benjamin in there), I started the event, seeing that I have to crash into traffic to cause damage. You can't hit big traffic, oncoming traffic, or cross traffic. You have to use same way traffic to crash those cars. You gain more time as you go with crashing them.

On completion of that, I saw the new rating system, which depending on how good you were in the event, you earned stars to add to the rating, the more destructive and risky drivers getting more stars. Your medal also can add a star or if you get a bronze, lose a star. After getting a certain number of stars, you unlock the next rating, which unlocks more events.

There are a bunch of other modes, too. Race is a whole lot better now, with shortcuts, alternate routes, and best of all: RAMPS! Now you can do vertical takedowns! Road rage is back, and it is better than ever. After taking down a few cars, you get extra time until you get a gold medal, where it stops giving you time. A whole lot better with these new tracks. Crash mode is redone, with you having to time A button presses for boost and then actually PLANNING on how you are going to crash. Oh, and multiple crashbreakers can occur (and you can use crashbreakers in later events). Burning lap is back, and so is Eliminator, but instead of going a full lap before you are eliminated, you have a timer. After the timer, whoever is in last place blows up. Funny.

So, yeah, this game is fun. The crashes are very awesome, even when you crash, and the extra features are nice. Also, if you have Burnout 3 and Madden 06 data, you unlock two new cars for crash mode. Nice extra... I guess.

I highly recommend this game. If you like aggresive racing, this is the best one of those games.

The cafeteria lead on like it normally did. More people began getting active and the food fight had long past. Things were all nice and calm...

...until Mewquas busted in the wall and screwed up everything.

The Megadoomer Stealth Mech pummeled through the walls of the cafeteria, sending chunks of wall down to the floor, where they broke empty tables. Mewquas had the cloak on, and the batteries were fully charged. Although the mech was invisible, he wasn't... which he didn't care.

"HAHAHAHAHA! I TOLD YOU I WILL BE BACK FOR REVENGE! PREPARE FOR MY CANNON!"

He seemed to reach for a button, which then a light emitted from his finger. Sounds could be heard, but nothing could be seen. Duh, the robot was cloaked, so the cannon was invisible too.
----------------------

"AGH! Crashed into the wrong car! Dangit!"

William paused Burnout, and turned off the XBox in his office, which was refurnished since the last few weeks. Just as he was about to play some Timesplitters, he heard an explosion in the cafeteria.

"It ain't chili night yet..."

He ran out to see Mewquas causing trouble and about to fire down at everyone.

William: "Go ahead and fire."
Mewquas: "Wait, you want me to fire?"
William: "Yeah... what's wrong with that?"
Mewquas: "...HAHAHAHA!"

Mewquas pressed a button, and the robot became uncloaked, revealing a cannon jutting out from the chest. William laughed.

William: "You seriously thought you could fire that without a lot of power?"
Mewquas: "Well, it was fully charged."
William: "Yeah, but what about the trip here?"
Mewquas: "Oh... forgot about that..."
William: "Just grab something to eat and get out."
Mewquas: "...Marty, grab me some food!"

Marty the SIR unit rushed to the lunch lady and asked for some waffles as Mewquas sat at one of the destroyed tables. They sat and ate the waffles.

William: "Remember to pick that mess up and rebuild the wall."
Mewquas: "FOOLISH EARTHLING! HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT!?"
William: "Look, I created you, and I can easily just wipe you out like that." He snapped his fingers, and Mewquas continued eating with a worried look on his face. He signaled Marty. Marty began cleaning up the rubble and setting up the supports for the wall. William turned around and began mumbling.

"First the food toss, than a ruined wall that I just painted. What next? Computer programs becoming real and overthrowing me?"

I don't have one favorite. I like to use all the characters because... well, I need to balance my skills.

I started off using Kirby and only Kirby. He may have been downgraded, but I can still kill with him. Copy some long-distance enemies and he wins hands down. Plus he can dodge like there is no tommorrow (Yoshi, your Egg Roll is useless.)

Fox then became one of my favorites because he was the character that helped me beat Event 51 with ease. He is super fast and his blaster can cause massive damage to unguarded foes thanks to rapid fire. If they guard and break their shields, I rack up more damage with that. The reflector shield is great when he is surrounded by enemies, and his speed dash move is great for quickly reaching one ledge to another while causing some damage.

I am also good with Peach. Her guarding move is excellent when DK powers up his punch at her. I have blocked many moves with this character than with any other character. Also, the floating jump and the evil plants.

One more character I am good at is Pichu. I haven't played him in a while because his weak stature makes him a prime target all the time, but his moves are awesome. Jumping and using his thunder attack doesn't cause damage if you move to the left or right a bit, since the bolt won't hover towards Pichu. He also has some nice moves that make people really furious that they are losing to a puny character. And speed? I can run at an enemy, dodge-roll behind him, and then throw him out before he can realize what just happened.

Well... I could go on... but, yeah, those are my best 4 characters...

OOC: Sorry about the inactivity here. Back to battle.

The "agents" stood still and watched as the beams headed towards them. Then at the last moment, they held their hands out and a force stopped the beams midflight. They stepped out of the way of the beams and then put their hands down, watching the beam once more, this time out of the area.

They turned in unison towards their new foes, showing absolutely no emotion in anyway. They held their hands up in the air, clinching onto both hands, and slammed their hands down at the ground, sending shockwaves towards their foes. The eight shockwaves became bigger as they assaulted their targets.

After pulling back their hands, the other clones vanished into the air, thus leaving the one agent by itself. It than began degrading down, becoming the rod once more.

The rod began shaking afterwards, then shifting form to the sword weilding form. There, it stood still and awaited a counter attack.

William was really bored one day, surfing the web on his laptop listening to Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga battle music. He was clicking here and there and to his surprise, he became facinated with the blogs of a Stinkoman. He had heard about him, but only from an email response from a Strong Bad...

But he continued reading, and became very intrigued by the blogs for some weird reason...

He decided to stop doing what he was doing and type up a small little letter for Stinkoman.

"Dear Stinkoman,
You are the man! You own, dude. Yeah...

I am bored right now, playing with my sword and boomerang guns right now. No soldiers to fight against or anything of the sort... seems that they are distracted with some technological geek...

I hope that we meet sometime. Maybe a fight? Who knows? You seem too busy to even deal with me...

Your fan,
William

P.S: Try wearing kitchen mitts. They warm you up good!"

He finished off the letter and sent it to the blog comment section, which was full of other's comments. He hoped his was recognized...

Phrame assessed the situation. Either take external damage from the one beam, or only gain manual control for changing shape. Option two seemed best, since Barnaos could simply change the form of Wyre Phrame to do what he wants. After jumping above the first beam, it charged towards the second beam, where it dessimated the beam and kept charging on the ground towards the opposistion. It raised its left sword up and slammed it down, hopefully on top of Ninetails. Its other arm flailed the sword in circles, resisting any attacks against the backside of the mech.

--------------

Barnaos grinned as he felt energy come up behind him. He slowly stood up and turned to see David in the ship. He laughed.

Barnaos: "Fool. You think you can stop me in my ship? You will not."

The floor emitted lasers surrounding Y. David in a barrier of laser energy. One touch could hurt whoever did think about doing so.

"My ship is a fortress compared to this universe's defences. You stand no chance against me, nor my precious empire!"

-----------------
OOC: Think of the ship part as a development of the story, therefore, there won't be a battle there just yet, so just play along story wise until I initiate that battle.

"Your efforts are futile."

Barnaos didn't spare a glance at Y. David as he stood before the screen. He reached forward with his hands and began typing on the nearby keyboard. He looked at the screen before hitting down on the enter key.

---------

The four beams were headed directly at the machine, and while it stood there, it awaited a command, since the previous attack prevented shape shifting.

A dark cyber voice emitted from the mech.

"Command: Initiate Pest 392 mode."

The mech then dropped down and formed back into the rod it once was. Before changing shape, though, it was hit with the beams, sending it back a few feet.

It began flashing from red to black and back to red. One end was frozen, the other blackened, and in between were puncture holes. Something was not right.

The rod than began splitting, going down to small little specks of dust. Then the specks began building themselves, forming up to be a swarm of bees. The only bee that stood out was the one that flashed red and black. It was bigger than the rest, but was the main fragment of the rod.

The bees swarmed around until they flew forward, which they then broke off into three packs, each heading for different targets. One headed towards Onetails, the next Fivetails, than the next at Ninetails itself. The "Queen Bee" stayed still, a light emitting from the stinger.

----------------------------

Barnaos grinned at this sight.

"It seems I have underestimated you. You actually did something to my creation. Something that I thought couldn't be done."

He turned around and faced Y. David, his grin hidden from his helmet, his eyes dark with power.

"But it seems to me you don't know the enemy very well. You don't know how well they adapt, how well they improvise." He walked towards the barrier and stood tall, glaring down at his foe. "You thought I won't learn what exactly goes on here, how things work, how things are run. Well, you are wrong." He reached by his belt and pulled out a computer chip. It was reletively small, yet something would seem it familiar to Y. David. On it was a picture of a wireframe cube and a "+1" notation to the side. "This is what happens when your technological advances meets the Windonian Empire! This 'battle chip' and 'PET' technology will easily be your downfall, not to mention the downfall of all the other universes that exist."

He turned around and a PET was strapped to his holster. It was a bit bulkier than others, but it was custom made, brandished with the Windonian crown and gun. "This will make hacking things much easier and smoother. While you here will be able to fight back, I can conquer other universes with this technology and then come back with their own. Mass adaption is key to domination and destruction." He thought about how Y. David would react to seeing a soldier of whom leads an empire having possession of something that was unknown to him. Y. David was familiar with the PET, yes, but seeing someone out of this universe making his own would seem very strange and scary.

OOC: Yeah, just some more story things. Not too familiar with the new Battle Network games, but I have played and beaten the first one.
