Ummm... you have to put the picture in a .bin file. You have only 128x64 pixels to fit per .bin, so you have to arrange everything like that.

Wow. It was at version .51 one day and the next day it is .59. That is good. I have a question that has probably been asked before and I don't remember it:

Is there a text editor in this? Maybe so you can edit the level names or some of the message blocks? It shouldn't really be that hard to make one since most of the text is found already (or at least in a table...). The only problem would probably be the message blocks with pictures in it.

1st: The mountains should be a dark color, not a bright color. It doesn't look good bright.
2nd: To change the palette of Mario, edit palette A. For the second player (which there shouldn't be any in this hack...) edit palette B.
3rd: Powerup stage. Nothing much to say...
4th: Why the grey cement blocks for the ground? Why not normal ground?
5th: Background a little weird... that ExGFX should be a foreground anyway...
6th: Same.
7th: BG palette weird. You can't have 3 small Yoshi's in a level. When one goes big, his head will be weird.
8th: ...not much to say...

Really? I thought people would ask about that. It is really important to have a text edit in a hack so you can have your own level names. It would be weird to have a level named "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy" and it has no Fuzzies in it...

I hate Angelfire. Everytime I try to download something from your site, it reaches 7% and then stops. It still acts as though it is downloading, but it isn't. Could you put the download on Freewebs or send it to me via E-mail (in profile)? I would definitly like to try out this hack, but this computer hates Angelfire... all your pics show the top half only... downloads stop... makes me annoyed!

Played it, enjoyed it, played some more.

Sure the levels are short, but this is a "tech demo" to show what SM's editor can do. Here are my thoughts:

1-1: Change level name, please! I won't say this for the rest of the levels, although it does apply to them. Near the top with the wooden smash log (name?), it is snow-covered. Minor glitch. I liked how you went from car to mole and no break in between. Can make for some awesome puzzles...
1-2: Like the scroll level. That first flower (or second, can't remember which) is placed so if you stay to the left of the screen, you get hit by the fire dude (name?). I always hit it... and I always know it is there... good.
1-3: Weird... I don't remember that level... I will get back to you on this...
1-4: Awesome puzzle to solve throughout the castle. It is all one big puzzle. Getting the key there is a trip.

Overall: Not bad. Golden Yoshi, your levels are always creative and stuff. You were meant to hack this game (hence your name). Good work and creative... finish 1st world ASAP! I want more! Just kidding, take your time.

That would be a awesome feature to implement. That way we wouldn't have to memorize every single red coin or flower (flowers would be easy to remember, but not the coins).

For now, people could use a hex editor, text editor is such a luxary...

Yeah... but I am lazy I just asked if there was going to be one... I could still use a hex editor, wouldn't matter to me.

I tried doing something like that. I had the quality down to as low as possible (for one level) and it was... 3 megs, I think... and it featured Ed laughing in it or something like that... just playing around with it...

It would be good... but then again... not really. Good for seeing animations and stuff, but if edited poorly...

I still follow the guidelines. It makes it easier for people to know what my thread is about. If you unsticky it and have someone post in it, then it is sure to grab lots of people's attention... hopefully... or better yet, say "Hack Release: Guidelines" That would get people's attention.

In all seriousness, I am still going to use this, in fact, I might add a link to this thread in my sig just to hopefully get some people to read it. I might not though...

In the YI Data Thread, there is a table set up there. You could always use that for text editing... like find "Make Eggs, Throw Eggs" when using the table in a hex editor...

Oh... now I remember... I actually enjoyed that level. Really fun and full of the baseball people. Lots of fun there...

You copy all that in Notepad and save it as a .tbl... I think... I use Transhexlation for my hex editing, so that uses a .tbl for tables. Look up B6 D8 E2 DC, which with this table, would be Make. You should find the text that way...

I had to use the data saved on my computer because now the thread won't load fully online... even with refreshing a couple times, so sorry for the long post...

EDIT: Anything more than 1 letter should be removed. That would screw up things... I think...

...if I remember correctly, Bowser is a Layer 1 object and uses the basic FG palette... the one used with the first two levels in the unedited SMW...

Don't think I am correct though. Make a backup and test with that. That might be the problem...

...I think there is something wrong with the text table. I tried looking up "Make" and "Eggs" using that table and there was no such thing. I copied and pasted the table if anyone wants to know. Anyone want to check to see if the table is correct? I don't know if it is just me...

I think he means change the palette of the boss room (contains the boss) and not the level you are in before you are in (which sounds completely stupid to say... as it is common sense...).

All I know is Bowser is Layer 1. The ground is a sprite. I thought Bowser would use some sort of normal palette because of the green and brownish colors. He might use the same palette as the pipes... just keep testing... anything that looks like Bowser's color, edit one at a time.

Hmm... GY, I believe it might be the editor. I can easily pinpoint that. Of course, you could possibly pinpoint that too... might be because of a sprite there... since that level is originaly a auto-scroll level... just a thought...

I like the swords. That is cool. Don't know why...

Chargin Chucks are cool, too. Four colors for them doesn't look much different... but still cool.

Now one thing bothers me: Mario is still 16 colors while everything around him is 4 colors... doesn't not really look good in my opinion. At least try to make Mario look like on the NES, but not the NES Mario. Change the palette and recolor him... if you want.

Overworld path looks cool. Better than being plain.
