I know English, German (including the Swiss version), and I'm learning French (the language sounds great, but it's a PITA to learn).
At some point I'd like to learn Dutch and Japanese as well... don't know when I'll get around to it though

That's... weird.

And Star Wars I & II weren't SO bad... they just weren't as good as everyone was expecting, so they seemed worse than they actually were.
I hope Star Wars III comes out within my lifetime, though... I've heard they're having problems getting some actor or another to sign up?

Nice Idea what do you think?
You talking to me? (Multiple people learning/interested in learning Japanese, so I'm not sure which one you're talking to ).

Well, in case you are asking me... no, I'm not interested in translating things. I want to learn Japanese because I like the language. Sorry.

And, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that sort of topic should be handled with PMs, because it's more of a one-on-one thing.

Okay, I guess I'll start out with scripts, and later on code a script editor with a similar interface to the trigger editor for WC3.

Next question... scripting language?
Something like C, or something else? (Basic and Basic-derivatives are out of the question... I personally dislike them).
Would a specially designed scripting language be a good or bad idea?

Try LegoLand some time. It's not quite as "polished" as Europa-Park (it's only been open for a couple years), but it's got some good rides, and seeing all those figures made out of legos is funny, lol.
Like the birds, a bear, a couple dragons, a giraffe or 2, etc., etc.

Anyway, back to the topic... I LOVE amusement parks, the more intense the ride, the better! I just don't like rides where there isn't something solid under my feet... but other than that, the faster, and the more twists and turns, the better
I particularly love the Outer Limits in Kings Dominion... that ride is awesome when it shoots you out at like 70mph right off the bat! (That's about 112km/h, for the metricly-inclined).

Good points.

Anyone else got any ideas to add?

Posted on 06-30-04 01:25 PM, in Older games better than newer ones? Link
I've been playing a lot of my older games recently, like Doom, Betrayal at Krondor, and such... and I've been thinking that I tend to enjoy those games more than I enjoy recent games. I can't tell if that's because those were some of the first PC games I played, or if it's because the game play is better than most games I've found lately (I'm specifically excluding graphics, because those aren't very important to me when deciding what games I like to play).
Has anyone else noticed something similar?

That's actually why I excluded them.
I *know* the graphics are better for newer games (usually, at least), but I don't really care about graphics, so if that's the only thing that's improved, I prefer to save my money for something else

I'd agree with your point about the remakes, except that for me, it's often the only way to play those games, since my ancient NES almost never works.
And then there's me living on one continent, and the NES being stored on another...

That's more than a little disturbing...

I'd say I'm of 2 opinions on this though... on one hand, I'd say that as long as everyone involved in this "game" knows what they're getting into before they start playing, then fine....
But on the other hand, does that game serve a worthwhile purpose? I have a hard time finding one.

There's a ZIP there named acmlmboard1.8a.zip or something.

Granted, I should just upload one on a different server
Might not be a bad idea; I don't know if anyone else is seeing this, but I'm getting a "connection refused" error with that URL.

Yeah, helping others can help you feel better, but it's not a "cure-all" thing.
Can you give any more details about what's going wrong, and why you're feeling so bad?

Tough call... I'd say Galuf (FF5) and Cecil (FF4).
Galuf because he's absolutely insane.
Cecil because I like Dark Knights.

Anyway, more on topic, I'm of the opinion that good new games are better than good old games. I had more fun with Ocarina of Time than The Legend of Zelda, Viewtiful Joe than any other beat-'em-up EVER, etc.
I had more fun with Starcraft, Doom, and Betrayal at Krondor than I had with Warcraft 3, Quake 3, or pretty much any RPG made after 2000... so I guess I could say we've had more or less opposite experiences in that regard.

UT2004 would be good... but the single player mode sucks (the AI is terrible), and I don't get the chance to play it online very often.

That's a high Newbie count HSD . I'm surprised you're still counting them
I wonder if she'll stop when she gets into the 4-digit range?

Well, HSD? Are you ever going to stop counting the Newbies? Or stop capturing them altogether?
