The first one was the best, and actually was a very good game. The second is pretty good, but the rest are dire. The original creators haven't been involved since the first game, but they're behind the latest one.

Latest reports suggest the game is a little ropey at the moment, and they've implemented a "Devil May Cry" style combo system with the shooting *cringes*

Cats look after themselves. I don't even feed mine water. It won't touch it because it finds it's own. Goodness knows what she's drinking, but it's kept her alive for a decade now

It's not uncommon for my cat to go missing for a whole day. She gets into loads of fights, but she's the eldest down our road, so she never comes back hurt. There are usually loads of fights down our road, you can hear cats moaning and screaming at each other every other night. Suburbia thinks it's more and more cool to get more and more cats.

Posted on 07-26-05 05:57 PM, in Rammstein Link
Rammstein were formed with the intention to make authentic German music. When they formed, Nu Metal was only in it's infancy in the US. The founding members of Rammstein were all in agreement that the projects they undertook before Rammstein all failed because they had too many American influences.

Rammstein also have no rap, hip-hop or urban traces in their music. They have no MC or DJ. They have none of the heriatage that can be found in Nu Metal music.
Wikipedia defines Nu Metal as:
"Nu metal (standing for "New Urban" Metal, aka aggro metal) is a controversial subgenre of heavy metal music. It sometimes bears some influence from hip-hop, because rhythmic innovation and syncopation are primary. Nu metal bands also feature aggressive vocals (either rapped, shouted, or sung), drop-tuned guitars that are clean or distorted, (with riffing similiar to the Seattle scene of the early 1990's) a funk-based rhythm section, and occassional DJ techniques such as turntables and sampling." Rammstein exibit very few of these hallmarks.

Finally, the Wikipedia entry describes them as:

"Although it cannot really be said that Rammstein stick to any particular genre of music, they are most often described as an industrial band; they are also often associated with heavy metal and hard rock."

Overall, Rammstein are one of the bands that are criminally mis-labeled because their music proliferated at the time that a high-profile music movement reached it's peak. Among their most hardcore fans and it's band members:

"Rammstein ist Rammstein" - Richard Z. Kruspe-Bernstein

I didn't do a lot of the work on 1.A3, but I've been heavily involved with one of the main features on 1.A4. Work is about 60% done, and as much of my free time is going on it.

||Bass is right about 1.A4. 1.A4 has changed how the board puts together the HTML and CSS you see when you view it. Therefore, every single page that you can see through a web browser has changed in some way.
At the moment I'm working hard to make it work with every viewable file in 1.A3. Then I'm going to be optimising it to make sure it's as useful as possible.

We appreciate this makes it a nightmare to update your own boards, but when it's done it'll knock your socks off as far as Acmlm's Board is concerned. Wait and see

It's only five lines replacing one line. It changes which files are required by each viewable page.

Not much for one page, but if you're planning on upgrading this new feature on 1.A3 manually, it'll take you an afternoon

With two people doing the programming work, you're right in expecting 2.0 to arrive well into the future. However, it's not completely off the cards like it used to be.

When 2.0 eventually does arrive, we're not going to stop there. Development is a continuous process and there will be upgrades even to 2.0.

We know about the other boards out there, and you knew that the code was messy when you started using the system. Any new features introduced in 1.A3, 1.A4 and 1.B are all being put to the test before finally being set in stone for a general release. Our advice is don't upgrade, wait for the next distribution.

||Bass and I have earmarked a number of features we want in 1.A4 and 1.B. After these have been successfully integrated into the community, we will decide whether any more builds are neccessary before making a decision whether we should start the mammoth task of 2.0.

So far, the 1.A series has been a testbed for the development process we've been trying to get in motion. Just get some cool stuff done and some security fixes before starting anything major.

You'd have to talk to ||Bass about what 2.0 is going to be based on, I think Ace might've started something but you'd be suprised just how little I know about that. You probably know more than I

2.0 is a big undertaking. We want to make sure that we understand how to implement these new features on a technical level and a user level before completely turning the board up-side down. It's as simple as that.

Another reason everyone should use extended post table styles. The link is right there

That might be an interesting thing to add into all post table layouts for the next build. I'll think about that

The seminal cryosleep shows what effect SID can have in a modern song.

Soundtrack to the Rebelion

The wonderful "Soundtrack to the Rebelion". A good example of Machinae's brilliant vocalist.

I think as it stands, ERSB is a prime example of where ratings are going wrong. ERSB is a good example of parenting being dumbed down and life being made more convenient for parents. It tells them what's in the game so they don't have to approve the game for themselves. Parents should be more involved with what their children play and watch, not have systems in place to remove them further.

If parents supply rated games to their children they should be criminals. There should be a national identification scheme so that all kids are given id with proof of age. No id, no sale. If a kid misleads a shop assistant to buy a rated game, they're the ones who should be punished accordingly.

Posted on 08-01-05 03:28 PM, in To everyone who says racism isn't a problem Link
My girlfriend's mum is the same. She spouts abuse in her own home because she's "allowed to". She also manages to justify homophobia because the "bible says it's ok to hate gays".

Seriously, people need to be more enlightened these days. Racism and prejudice cannot and must not be justified. "The bible says it's ok" and "I have free speech, don't I?" and "it's not natural" are among the weakest of excuses for hatred.

Take the situation in Northern Ireland. There are some young people there who just use the divide between Catholic and Protestant communities to justify violence. They probably don't even know what caused the rift, or the history between the divide and why we don't have that divide in Great Britain. There are some people who will start a riot just because they have that excuse, and it shouldn't be allowed to continue.
