Okay, I get it now. Thanks.

I read the b[5] line as "assigns 5 to the b parameter" or "makes parameter b an array 5 characters long" as opposed to "initializes and increments 5 times". The way the two of you explained it makes sense now.

Yeah, Ultima Warriors of Destiny on NES was pretty bad...pity, too, because the other NES ports were pretty good (Quest of the Avatar in particular).

Hmm...pretty much any Acclaim game is worthy of mention on this list.

The X-Band was really one of those things that was ahead of its time...it supported most of the EA Sports games, as I recall, and some others too. Wasn't there one for Genesis too?

truthfully, though, syntax is generally the biggest difference between languages. Most of them are perfectly capable of doing whatever you'll need (Although VB may be easiest for making Windows-only programs).

It won't DIE, but the National Hockey League, which to Americans is the equivilent of "Hockey", will be in big trouble if they don't play next season.

Tables look fine to be, though that may be thanks to 1024*768 resolution.

And auto-uploading to groups tends to do weird things to pictures. My personal favorite is uploading a GIF to Yahoo! to find out its auto-small picture is about 100K MORE than the full-size one. DOn't think I've ever had it flatout change the format though....

I just find it amusing that Linux fanboys are all "LOL @ WINDOZE IT R TEH SECURITY FKitten Yiffer!!1!" when Linux comes out of the box more open than Britney Spears's...um...box.

And I don't think it's an "exploit" so much that Linux, as I mentioned, comes wide open out of the box, and he's probably taking advantage of that.

I somehow managed to completely skip Deadly Towers on the list.

ALSO: Why all the hate for ET? Yeah, it's terrible--certainly not nearly as good as my cousin thinks it is--but c'mon, I'm not sure it even rates in my list of top 10 worst games of all-time.

Oh yeah, and Hard Drivin' for the Genesis was another "WHY didn't I give it a 1 again?" game.

While I'm completely artistically retarded and thus have no right to speak, I do agree that the placement in the last panel is...sub-optimal. More specifically, it looks like one giant composite monster, as opposed to two distinct ones.

Is there any special procedure you have to follow before you can start working with and hacking NES ROMs? I seem to recall having to convert one to a .bin file before you could work with it.

The reason I ask is because at some point, to try and get my programming skills back up to par, I'd like to try a simple Dragon Warrior editor wherein you can edit the costs and power of items.

I believe it tells the browser not to override those parameters (Like in other classes or whatnot) under any circumstances, though I could be wrong.

Nice! So in other words you're just gonna do what I suggested.

Still, though, that's pretty cool.

Okay...had the two confused apparently. I thought it was one or the other (That would make sense, hence the "Genesis" compression scheme that's sometimes talked about here). Thanks!

This thread has served its purpose I guess.

Put it this way...on Kiwibonga's old board, I was in a state of basically perpetual Reinfors Syndrome (Though they didn't have a name for it), and I don't think I ever made it close to 600 in one day.

I was here for the Wooster Syndrome...I recall a lot of 20-plus page topics, though I'm probably wrong in that recollection.

I, personally, view anything that allows easier creation of games/hacks to be a very good thing.

Sure, you have the n00bs who will make terrible hacks. But at the same time, there's the potential for people with great talents for level design and concepts who perhaps lack the programming knowledge to do such a thing themselves to realize their level designs thanks to a tool like LM. I can't see how this is possibly a bad thing.
