I've changed the title of my SMB3 hack. There are also some ASM hacks in this such as infinite lives. Here's some screens:



New title screen, and 2 player mode removed to save space.




1-ups now add 10 seconds to your clock!
You'll find these in levels that have little time to complete.


New mushroom house



Eeries flying around

And some more:




There won't be any release until the whole hack is finished. And since there's infinite lives, I can't think of any other purpose for coins. Any ideas?

1-ups are back to normal. Also that coin multiplying thing. Wasn't it in Mario Adventure? Also, how about a kuribo shoe for getting 100 coins? And receiving power-ups for getting 3 goal cards?

Fire Bros. replaced with Birdo!
But I'll need people's help. How do I make birdo not stand partly through the ground like in the picture?

Sorry I forgot to reply to your PM: This doesn't have to do with sprite TSA, it has to do with sprite positioning on screen. I've been looking through the ASM routines for about 30 minutes now without finding anything, but I'll continue searching until I can find a way to fix this.


EDIT: Ah, finally found it.

0x85DB = 00 That will move your fire bros. up by 8 pixels, but this very well may affect other enemies as well, I haven't tested it myself much.


That byte is for bommerang bros, not fire bros. While searching for the byte myself, I got the correct one:

That's fixed now .

Edit: You no longer lose kuribo's shoe when you enter/exit a level! I've also sacrificed the anchor
to make kuribo's shoe for your inventory.

Birdo now shoots projectiles that move straight forward.



Hammer bros. now throw lots of fireballs at you (it's easier than it looks )

Why don't you replace the Parabettles with the Subcon characters you rescue in SMB2?

I don't know how Wario and Waluigi would fit in the game.

For your question, it could be possible if I implemented a feature like in SMB2j.

I'll have new screens in a few days. I've been busy with a few things, but I'll have lots of free time to work on this hack during March Break .

How about an item that turns Luigi into stone to make him invincible until he falls off the screen or completes a level (if the tanooki statue code still exists in SMB3DX in the ROM, you could use that, but make him able to enter pipes). Or a clock item that freezes all enemies on the screen for a few seconds.

I'm releasing another demo of Mario Chronicles. This has up to World 4 almost done. Why another demo? To let people see what ASM hacks this hack contains. The problem I have is I'm running out of level ideas. If anyone would like to contribute levels, that would be great .

The current bugs and glitches in this hack are:

-some sprites show up over-top of the status bar
-plains music screwed up before loop because I messed around with it

I started working on this a few days ago, and decided to show everyone.


1-1. Notice I have a border for the status bar, made of layer 2 tiles, which means the background is layer 1.


The dark grass on the bottom is part of the background. And look at the corners of the walls. They don't show the sky colour.


And in the sky.

This is the basic design for the hack. I'll upload more screens when I get more done. There'll also be some custom blocks .
