Other than here, I have my own board, was an Administrator at Eponick's board, and was a Moderator at an Animal Crossing board) Recommendations: Max, Yiffy Kitten, jasukan, Ziff, Monopoly Man, Kyouji Craw, Legion, knuck, witeasprinwow, Zem, Randy53215, Trunxy/Dogan, Squash Monster, Toxic, Knives, NSNick, Elric I have been here for almost four years now. I know the forums, the members, and even the inside jokes. I also happen to know the moderator scene, i.e. when to close a thread, is this fight really serious, and if someone has just posted some very, very rule-breaking material. From my modding experience in the past (and owning a board), I've gained enough knowledge to know what I'm doing. On the topic of the community; I get along well with most of the board. I'm not using popularity as a defining note, not in the least bit. It's more of a knowledge of how everyone acts. If someone new to the board were to say in their first post "YOU ALL SUCKS AND GOES TO HELLS LOL", obviously I'm reporting that. However, if one of our more seasoned members (or a new one that is known to do this jokingly) we to say this, I would know, in a hearbeat, that hey aren't saying we suck. It's all a friendly jab and poking fun at those who do say it seriously. There is a point, though, where it does get out of hand. If I were to say something, and someone relies with "Your mom does something", and then proceeded to do that for every other reply then on, I lock the thread, warn them, and when I feel things have calmed ddown, re-open it. I wouldn't abuse my powers in any way. I simply have no need to. If someone called me or my opinion retarded, I wouldn't delete a thread, thus screwing up postcounts and otherwise good posts made in there, I'd deal with it. Rarely would I ever delete a thread, only in the extreme cases where the entire first page of General Chat is just threads saying "fuck youi omeg". Right there, I'd lend a hand. Also, because being a Full Moderator means modding the whole of the forum, I would try to visit every forum at least once every few days. I say this because not everyone is active in every forum (I don't visit Game Creation or the Final Fantasy forums, for example). However, if there ever were a problem, I have my AIM name listed, and as soon as someone send me a message saying "Someone's starting shit over here", I would rush over and deal with the problem as soon as I could. Also, the ACS does cause a sort of problem with mass posting. If I'm suspicious of someone trying to raise their postcount or score high in the ACS (making bad posts while they're at it, of course), I'd alert someone about it. Well, that's about it. | Despite the fact that a more comparable opponent to the PSP would be the GBA? I'd say the DS: - Interactivity (I have fun with the mic minigames in WW: Touched, and others who have never played them before get hooked) - Two Screens (One for stats, the other for gameplay, and each has a better resolution than the GBA) - Better battery life - The games. I love what they have out so far (SM64DS, FtM, MPH:FH, Polarium, WW:Touched, Yoshi's TnG, PacPix), and the fact that the carts can hold so much for their size (128MB on that little card!), - It - and the games - are cheap. $150 for the system, and $30-$40 for the games new. And most of the time (This is because WW:Touched was $35), the first-party games are $30, and that's what everyone should get for the DS. - It pisses people off when I pick it in a debate like this because they feel the need to compare the two. |
