i would think that but i dunno...i think that makes the system more complicated and we all know how reliable programmers are...when they can be lazy, the will

it isn't that Firefox that chews up 256MB of memory but the OS takes a lot of it up, thus, not leaving much for all the other applications. Thus, when the percentage of memory taken up by the OS is less than half, then you will have more memory speed up.

anyways, my friend's iBook didn't run so good with 256 but when he upgraded to 1.5GB of RAM, it flies

my mind into a computer...hopefully, the power never goes out...

anyways, I'd probably not want to do something like that...after all, at some point, you will be sick of your "immortal state"

Posted on 10-25-04 09:33 PM, in Thread bumping Link
the problem is we could have some idiot start bumping threads that are 6+ months old and thus all the recent stuff gets shoved down...but then again, closing a bump thread does not prevent another thread from being bumped...which is what boards that do self-cleaning do...

but anyways, a thread that is bump should be conditioned and not be automatically closed...so, I do agree with Jizuko

Oh well, I guess I'll try to do my posting from home, not from work. I prolly shouldn't post from work anyways....

timing? well, i notice that i lose power in my right hand after a few hours of playing video games and using the mouse all day. also, maybe the posture of your wrist as well in using the keyboard at work and the one on the iBook because I think iBook keys are below the surface you rest your hand on while the keyboard keys are elevated.

hmm...i wonder where on that site you guys found the comics.. oh never mind, it seems not all section are just comics... (the family section isn't)

the animations aren't that bad but they aren't moving enough to effect teenagers, young kids maybe... but the comics, i do agree that scare tactics aren't good but if this was supported by a human personality, then it can work... this seems better to be used as an aide in a classroom discussion rather than something for kids to learn on their own? or maybe it is used that way

many japanese GBA games nowadays are coming with english tiles. However, they probably require more data to be able to use. You can, just move the tiles to where the japanese ones are and go from there.

an iBook is a laptop made by Apple

as for 512mb not being enough, i think it is operating systems taking too much memory

P.C. for control and variety (i like to have control of my computer and variety on the case of software anyways)

Mac for stability (since macs haven't crashed that much for me when I use them with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and Word are open all at the same time on a G4) and professional development (well, less interference...hard to explain)

yeah, that is true...after all, human memory, in theory, has infinite capacity as well as infinite precision...with a computer those things aren't true...so, unless you have someone to maintain your computer, your screwed...

other things you have to deal with is memory leaks and deadlock and all those fun things...

Posted on 10-26-04 11:02 AM, in Easiest programming launguage to learn Link
yes, learning languages on processors is easier but there is a lot more one must manage the lower one goes. C++ and Java are nice because their compilation schemes take care of stuff you do not need to worry about (such as stack space). Also, they are easier to understand documentation wise and often easier to debug. Debugging assembly isn't very fun unless you have commented well...but who really does comment well?

anyways, the easiest language is the language that gives you the right amount of control you want.
