Yes boys and girls and gender-freaks, I got another great idea.

Since we all know some basic facts regarding Visual Basic, I've decided to start a little series. The underlying facts are:

1) I like VB.
2) VB is not nearly as powerful as C.
3) I still like it anyway.

Fact 2 can be broken by the use of that mystic technique known as subclassing, aka "that thing that turns your Stop button into a Crash button".

Because of that last part, here's the start of a series on how to do it the RIGHT way.

First things first, we'll need the Subclassing Assistant, courtesy of VBAccellerator, to minimize the risks. You can download it here. Put that in your System directory.

I've cooked up three simple lessons to kick this off. They are:
1) How to add your own items to the system menu, and ofcourse act on them appropriately...
2 How to add a checkmark to a system menu item, expanding on Lesson 1...
3) How to show a description of menu items, in a status bar or something. Open your browser's menu now and watch the status bar for a RL example.

The next lesson would probably be simple menu bitmaps, followed by "proper" menu bitmaps, I don't know. Well, they will be unless YOU can suggest something better or more interesting.
