I dont see how the fairy tale of evolution is any more abstract than that of creationism.

you're crazy. Darth Maul was lame. No character development at all. He was just a FILLER CHARACTER. All that means is that George Lucas needed a generic bad guy, and gave that concept to the artists. "Hey guys, make a bad buy who looks evil. and um. I dunno give him a double edged lightsaber. thatll add to the evil."

The Jango Fett shit was equally lame. The only reason he was added was because there was a cult following behind boba.

The first two movies were a collection of "Oh man, this would rock!"isms, and every aspect fell flat.

I liked Ep2 in some regards. I liked some of the story. I didnt like Yoda's fight scene, for the same reason i didnt like Jango Fett's role.
Contrary to most fan boys, I liked Anikan's role. I thought he portrayed the teen angst and frustrations with being forced into being a jedi, and having his mother killed. Too bad they cut the Tusken Raider scene short; That scene could have seriously added to the idea that Aniken is starting to change.

In general, Ill see ep3 in the theatre, but im not expecting anything more than a generic star wars history story with some great special effects.

Ive playued about 6 hours of it so far.

I have to say, I have some disapointments.

For one, the guns. They added alot of useless stupid fucking guns. the pistol is a joke. that thing you pull off the sentinals that shoots a steady beam is also a joke. Th mini-uzi is dumb and runs out of ammo real fast.
Since the mini-uzi is your main weapon, when you die, it becomes a quest to find a decent weapon. I dont like that at all. It effects multiplayer drastically. I liked being spawned, and having a gun thats balanced with everyone elses. I dont like having to go hunt down a gun in order to do damage. By changing that, they've turned it into "Know the map to win", instead of "Have some fucking skill to win".

I dont like how the life/sheilds thing was changed. I noticed that the enemies hurt you more, too. Three or four shots, and you have to go hide. I like hiding to recharge, but its rediculous to do it every 10 seconds.
In Halo 1, when your shields went down, you had the option to continue fighting and brave it and start losing life, or to hide. Now, when your sheilds are down, you MUST hide or you die.
Also, I liked the medpacks, and hoping you run into one if you only have 1 life dot left. The medpacks also gave the game some atmosphere. they were usually only in logical places, like spilled out of a downed escape pod or something. meh.

The AI seems cool, but i noticed taht its not as interactuive anymore. Plus, it doesnt take that long at all to kill enemies. You dont get that same intimate battle experience anymore. I noticed that the enemies tend to stare off into the distance alot and they fire randomly in directions where there arent any bad guys way too much. I played on Heroic hoping that this was fixed at all, but instead, the enemies only take more damage and deal more damage; no new AI. Also, I rarely use Melee anymore. It seems like you have to get alot closer, and aim just right to pull it off. Also, the time between shooting and then melee and then back to shooting has been extended. That deleted another form of the strategy. Melee is fucking useless now (unless you sneak up to someone in the back).

The levels so far arent as fun. I liked the outdoor levels with big open areas. Im at the first Covenant mission, and so far everything has been "Run down the street. now run here. you're in a room, go out the only door". Its too formalaic. Although most of the indoor levels of Halo 1 were like this, the outrdoor levels made up for it.Im hoping that theres more outdoor open areas with large scale battles.

the battles used to be fun, too. Because of the weakened AI and the adding of stupid big dumb unbalanced guns, battle is a Run and Gun. Wo0o0o. I thought i played this 349023890 fucking times before. Nope, more run and gun. Shoot the enemy who's rarely moving enough, and then shoot the next. Seriously, the intamacy of large scale battle is lost. Its doom fucking 3.

It just seems that alot of the things i liked the most in the first Halo were taken out or edited. It sort of feels like they went and asked people that didnt like Halo what they should put in to make them like it. And now, Halo has lost some of its charm, and replaced it with generic Run n Gun action, badass graphics, and annoyingly long scenes (tho, they are interesting). I dont know. Ill finish it still, but i feel like this game came dangerously close to becomming Star Wars Episode 1. I wish someone could mod the Origional Halo and add the new vehicles and make new levels.

Halo is overrated. Halo is not revolutionary, just as Final Fantasy 7 was not revolutionary, just as Grand Theft Auto III was not revolutionary.

Halo changed little about the genre. I own Halo for the PC. On the PC, it's a generic FPS that looks very nice. I can drive vehicles, follow along with an amusing storyline, shoot things, snipe things, rocket launcher things, and if I feel up to it, I can throw a few grenades at my foes. I can do all of this, with the exception of the plot part, in a game such as Unreal Tournament 2004, and I can do literally all of it in Half Life.

I didn't say Halo was a bad game. I just don't think it's worth getting an Xbox for. Similarly, while the ability to punch people off of vehicles is certainly alluring, I doubt I will jump out of my computer chair, buy an Xbox, and get Halo 2 and join the many fanboys that think it's the greatest game ever because they haven't picked up an RPG in their lifetime.

To me, Halo belongs where all good first person shooters belong. On the PC.

GTA3 and Halo were sort of revolutionary in the simple aspect that they took alot of great elements from games in those genres, added new elements, and focused on the gameplay aspects. These days, that seems rare.

If you only played Halo on PC, then you're missing out. the port to PC turned halo into a generic FPS, like you said. on the xbox, its alot more.
Im sort of tired of the Halo is overrated thing. Granted, theres alot of dipshit fanboys like there are with FF7.

On the Xbox, the game really is alot different. Theres alot more strategy and subtleties about it. Ive posted all those in another thread, so im not oging to go into it here. One major thing tho, is that one the xbox, everyone is equal. Halo on the xbox is more about the GAME. FPS on PC is more about mastering the controlls, getting a badass mouse, and mastering the ENGINE. not the GAME. I wish i could explain this easier, but the concept is so intangible to me that i cant.

Theres just alot about Halo that I would like to see on other FPS games. When i play most FPS now, i feel those elements i came to appreciate in Halo are missing. For example, Medal of Honor. Its such a shitty game. the AI blows, the engine blows, the scripts blow..

If you're not really into First Person Shooters, then i could imagine why you woudlnt care for Halo. Personally, Ive played a ton of FPS and i noticed alot of the same elements being repeated over and over and the cliche taking over the genre. Halo was a nice breath of fresh air.

Also, FPS no longer belong to the PC. If done right, an FPS is very playable on a console. I think the Xbox is the best right now, because of its contoller. The PSX's analog sticks are too sensative and annoying, and the Gamecube.. well... the GCN controller is best for first party Nintendo games and arcade fighters.

In anycase, Id like to see more Xbox FPS games done as well as Halo was done. The Fragfest genre needs to die. We've played Doom3, serious sam, heritic, hexen, quake, etc etc over and over and over. Im done with the run and gun and blow shit up with the BFG. I need strategy in my FPS, and Halo delivered.

Halo 2, however.. meh. They turned it into a generic run and gun, and im not impressed. If thats your thing, I suggest you play Halo 2 as a game, and not as a Halo sequel. Its a good Fragfest game. Its just not my style.

I played it durring those three days it was free. I was sort of dissapointed by alot of aspects. I wish there was more character customation wiht the head. Alot of people end up looking the same. I like that you can sort of choose your clothing as you play.

Setting up teams was a pain in the ass. One the map, there are hotspots that you can teleport to. gold ones are towns, and silver ones are quests. There is only one quest per location, and it didnt look like alot of locations would fit. Id say about 50.

The missions are actually pretty fun tho. Alot of the time, its a pain in the ass to figure out where to go, but assuming you dot get lost, exploring the area is nice. The way they do it, is each of those locations have a quest that has you explore the surrounding areas. Once you go into the quest, you no longer run into other player characters not on your team.

However, the way of finding team mates is the most retarded thing Ive ever seen. Unless i didnt understand something, the only way you could join a team was to run up to every person in that mission area and invite them to your team. everyone. then you just hope you get 5 people, cuz the mission is impossible to solo. Often, alot of people were AFK, and that only added to the frustration.

The combat sort of feels like Warcraft 3 in a different perspective. You click a monster, and hit space bar once to start attacking it. while you're doing that, you have 6 skills you can use at any time. If you cast a spell or a skill, then once its done, your character automtically goes back to attacking.
I thought it was pretty fun. The skills are fun to use, mostly.

Overall, I wouldnt feel confortable paying anythihng more than 5$ a month on it. It was fun, but i could see alot of problems with it. Then, i found out that its going to be like Battlenet, and let you play online for free. Youjust have to buy the game, and youre ready to play online with no credit cards or hassels.

Thats got me wondering if i should or not. Anyone else interested in playing if i do? I hate MMORPGs when i dont know anyone.

Hopefully, FF12 will be based on FFT's ivalice rather than FFTA's. I noticed that those vierra race chicks are in FF12, and thats got me doubting. Since FF6 is my favorite FF, follorwed closely by FFT, Im really hoping FF12 isnt a piece of fanboy crap.

In any case, I also wanted to mention that this is preobably the best thread thats ever been on this board. Its made me want to play through FF6, and while playing it, Im picking up on alot of it's subtleties that i took for granted the first 3 times through.

Thanks for all your insight. I wish i could think of something to add.

This site is amazing.

You download a plug in for your mediaplayer. It supports a slew of players: Winamp 2, Winamp 5, Windows Media Player, and alot others.

Then, you sign up on the site. Go to your plug in options, and enter your site user and password.

Now, listen to music. As you do, for every song that plays at least 50% through gets added to your list and is sent to the site. As you listen to more and more music, it starts cataloging your tastes. Soon, youll get stats that say what your favorite artists are.

Each time a song is shown ont eh site, its a clickable link. You click that link, and itll tell you everyone that has listened to that song. then, on taht page, you can click on the artist, and see who the top fans of that artist are, and who all has listened to the song.

When you're on another person's profile, you can open this radio player that will start playing songs that they've got in their lists!

The site overall needs some work. Its sort of bulky and hard to navigate alot of the time, but its still cool. Personally, I think they need to add more of a sense of community.

But still, I reccomend you check it out. its pretty neat. for now, at least.

About the only thing you could do is resample them. Theres tons of programs on Download.com that help you do that.

However, resampleing them means that you're reducing the Bitrate, wich means you're also reducing the quality of the song.

The less bitrate you go, the less quality and the less physical size it takes up.

If you need to make an mp3 smaller so you can send it to a cell phone as a ring tone or something like that, then play with the quality and bitrape. If youre trying to make it smaller so you have more room on your harddrive or ipod, then i woudlnt reccomend resampling at all.

Im playing through the FF6 again, and paying aslot of attention to some stuff. I can imagine how perfect it would be if they remade FF6 using FFX's style of graphics.
If it was done right, it would be orgy on disc.
