Oooh, now that'd be something. Two player co-op in a hack, that'd be a nightmare actually. Although the bandit sprite revelation isn't really anything new, and the routine is there for the second player. Just need to do some modifying I guess.

I'll be quiet now.

I'd like some more leveling tips, given that I'm near the end of the game and don't know wether I should advance yet or beef up my levels first. I was thinking about the Field of Love, because I encountered a cube there that splitted up lots and wasn't too hard, but gave over 100 000 exp. I'll just need to equip my fighters with poison checks this time around

Those cubes are the best, because of the insane experience output. But to make that go even faster, use an Experience Card. (Easier if you make or find one, and reproduce it from there.) I think I've managed to get near 1 million experience before, although it's been almost a year since I've played. Not exact on that number. They are rare encounters, so you will need a little patience fighting them.

And what level do you recommend to go into Fienal with?

Well, to get a more "hidden" item, here's what you should do.
Spoiler:
After the storyline attempt at Fienal, and just before you are ready to make your return trip, head to Fun City. Enter via PA, and head towards the colliseum. (It's left.) You should see a cut scene. Let the story play out, then after you are brought to the Inn, and after the dialogue is done, talk to the bed ridden person, name I can't remember of the top of my head. Keep talking to her until you get a "Slayer's Ring." She'll give three items.

This must be done before your return trip to Fienal. The Slayer's Ring gives any attacker added hits to their attack. One hit turns into three. A very deadly accessory, and it'll come in very handy.

Then there's a very cheap money trick. Head to Central City, buy a Scyther. Have Ashton customize it with a Damascus. If successful, it will turn into a Melufa. This will be Ashton's strongest weapon until you go deep into the ultra hard hidden dungeon. The Melufa also sells for an insane amount of FOL. (In the range of 2 million per or something like that.)

BTW, I suggested Ashton and Dias because a team of Claude, Ashton, Dias, and Rena works out wonder. All three of them can use the very strongest weapon in the game. Not only that, Celine's spell casting can slow you down, and the damage vs time ratio becomes a huge hinderance. But, you are adjusted to your team, and you are winning.

And now Fienal, I'm usually around level 90-100 when I enter. For preparation:
take your fighters through the A level fight of I think Duel at Fun City's colliseum. If their AC is around 650-700, then you should be able to get through without a problem. The first fight is really what determines whether or not you can win. If you can win every battle, your fighter will get a pretty strong weapon.
Fight 1: Yellow robot. If he can damage you, you lose. It has about 6000 HP.
The next three fights I can't really remember the order.
Yellow slime. Slow mover, but if it eats you, you lose. Use ranged attacks.
Blue slime. Fast mover, and has a higher chance of being able to eat you. Do NOT use Sword Bomber.
Green robot: Slower than the yellow robot, but not an instant lose scenario if it can damage you. It often blocks attacks.
Fight 5: Green beast. Fairly simple, but run backwards if it starts a breath attack. That can petrify you. I think the tail swipe is also capable of paralyzing you.

The enemies you see on the first trip to Fienal, as well as the Dual mode level A will not change for later. As for equipment:
Use Blacksmithing with the Orichalcum, Damascus, Mithril, Meteroites. They are rare drops from those annoying mages. They also appear outside Fun City.
Almost every piece of equipment you'll get will help. Just make sure your Blacksmith super skill is high enough.

And you have one Pickpocketing mission. Head to Fun City, head towards the Bunny Square (up), and steal from the bunny. Your chances are frusteratingly low, but the reward is WELL worth it. Just equip the reward and see for yourself in battle. (Equip it on one of your fighters. And, control that fighter. )

With that, you are now prepared for Fienal. Good luck.

Or is there a way to beef em up like that?

Yes, pump some levels into the skill Functionality. Your Dexterity is your AC minus whatever armor you have on. Duel Suits I think have slightly more defense than Reflective Armor, but the Reflective Armor has nice elemental bonuses. (Handy for those Combo battles in the collisuem.) You can also max out the skill Writing for more Dexterity.

All that's left is to finish Fienal.

All of them have the name Phil.

I'll take a guess on mystery character and say California Governer Arnold.

As for the bonus, 31,200?

And now I'd like to thank Hurricane Frances for completely ruining the NL wild card race.

Marlins and Cubs will do a doubleheader at Wrigley.

As a result of the first three games being postponed, the idle Cubs have been caught by the Giants. This does not affect the remaining three games between Cubs and Marlins, but 5 out of 6 isn't gonna be bad. The next two weeks will make or break the Cubs and Marlins.

1: If you don't get to the finals in the Lacour tourney, you've already lost.
2: If you don't find 'gramps' house (and btw, there's never a hint) he won't give you the Sharp Edge.

Process to get the Eternal Sphere.
Claude must get to the finals of the Lacour Tournament, anything else means you already lost it. Easier to do IMO if you are in Claude's scenario, because you can control him. If you are playing Rena's scenario, you must rely on luck.

After Claude's imminent defeat to Dias, head to the town entrance, and head left. Keep going until you find a house, that's "gramps' house." Talk to him, and he'll give you the Sharp Edge. I believe there is a little bit of leeway to get this, but you can no longer if the city was evacutated.

After getting the Sharp Edge, Claude must Customize it with Mithril. Normally you don't find mithril until CD 2, but with the Radar skill, you have a chance to get mithril automatically. (Save before you try this.) Raise somebody's Radar skill 3 or 4 levels. It's better if somebody starts at 0, less skill points to use. Check your inventory for new items, if Mithril is in the new section, yay! Otherwise load and try again. Here's the thing, you need 2 Mithril's, not 1. If you do get a Mithril, save, and repeat the process with someone else.

For Customizing to have success, you must have Sense of Design and Dexterity. Both are unlockable with the Metalwork skill, so if Claude has neither, do Metalwork with some crap minerals. (Gold, Iron, etc.)

Tip of the day: Orchestra significantly raises success possibility with any Item Creation or Super Skill.

Yes, but you won't be able to right now. Rena doesn't have the physical capability yet, and she really lacks in the AC right now. I've never been able to succed in that colliseum without almost a complete run-through of the Cave of Trials. Once you find the Valkyrie Suit or Valkyrie Boots, she'll be set for the colliseum AC-wise. She also lacks in the strength department, as some monsters are kind of fast, and a solo vs a group isn't gonna work. Not when the solo is a spell caster anyway.

As for a weapon that can actually deal damage... Get a Kaiser Knuckles (Customize an old weapon with Gold or some other crap mineral,) and Customize it with a Moonite. End result is Empresia. Too bad it doesn't have the half MP bonus like the Fallen Hope.

Also, if you want to give Dias a good boost, give him all of your best equipment, and have him do the solo level A in the colliseum a couple of times. If he isn't able to, then I'd consider heading back to the Field of Love and look for the cubes. (Plus with the mages, you can stock up on the minerals while you are at it.)

Tip of the day: Sense of Rhythm and Pitch are by far the two easiest Talents to unlock. Compose a song, then sit next to a Musical Store, and keep buying the Conductor's Baton in groups of 20. Then, just keep mashing the X button to play that song, easist skill points one person could ever get.

Well the Yankees have done the following in one week:
Demanded that TB get to NY on Friday, three days before any game were to start. (And, at that time, the hurricane would hit.) TB already announced that they will remain in Tampa to stay with their families and fight out the storm. They said they could leave Sunday night or Monday morning, but didn't or couldn't. Nobody knows.
Then...
Demanded that TB forfeit the game missed. Even gave interviews about this. A huge PR disaster for the Yankees. Now they are saying they never demanded a forfeit, but will bill MLB. You know, all those free hot dogs and soda's can catch up and bite you in the ass if you aren't careful.

They tried to make up the games today, but both were rained out, try again TOMORROW. Doubleheader, Thursday, starting at 3 pm. That still leaves one game though, because there were two games scheduled to be played, so logic would conclude that the Devil Rays will have to be in NY Friday for another game. Well, unless they have a different game on Friday...

In the end, it's always been true, the Yankees suck.

Actually, floor's 10-13 are death traps even if you are level 255. The big purple-ish robots are fast AND hit hard... Oh, and let's not forget the little robots that can one hit kill even with the VALIANT pieces of armor... Better to just run through as quickly as you can. Although I usually level build on Phoenix, (fight him on 12, backtrack to 11, go back down, repeat.) That's after I fufill the two party requirement, btw.

If you want some really good but somewhat unreliable level building, stick to floor 7, and give your fighters the Funny Slayers. Use an experience card when you fight the thieves (they are blue, the rare encounter is 6 of them.) For more reliable but less experience, stay on floor 6, and equip the Funny Slayers. (BTW, I highly recommend you go back and forth from 5 to 6 until Santa shows up in the "main" room on the 6th floor.) Lower shop prices, and BUY 20 Go Home Frogs, Meteorites, Mithril, Damascus, Sages Stone, Orichalcum, and whatever else there is. If you want some money back, raise the price, then sell all 20 Sages Stones... Otherwise, hang on to them, they Blacksmith and Metalwork into good items.

Don't buy the Santa's Boots yet, if you want to try your luck, head to Arlia, and steal from the little kid in the newlyweds house (house on the left, upper side of town, by the exit.) If you can't or don't want to steal, go ahead and fork 3 mil or whatever FOL for them.

Tip of the day: The Valiant and Valkyrie Boots give the speed bonus that the Bunny Shoes have, and have 200 more defense...

Fortunately, I found a pretty reliable way to kill her, and her alter ego.

Preparation:
You want 20 Cure Stone, 20 Blackberries, 20 Blueberries, and 20 Ressurection Bottles just in case. Remove every Killer Move from every fighter. If you have a spell caster, set AI to do nothing. To check on the HP, have some Spectacles. Since the battle does give great EXP, have a spare Experience Card handy. FOL is laughable, so don't bother.

Basic strategy:
1. Equip Bloody Armor. The armor will protect you from the deflects. For an added bonus, use Star Guards.
2. Above all else, everyone must be wearing Valkyrie Boots, Bunny Shoes, or Valiant Boots. The speed will keep you alive.
3. Disable all healing spells for Rena/Noel except Fairy Light. Leave either/both on AI. Control a fighter.
4. Use a Revival Card on Rena when the battle starts. In the event she does die, this'll cover that. Once she is revived, you can use one on her again.
5. Keep an eye on your HP. They will drop quick, if Rena doesn't cast by the time you are down to 5000, check to make sure she isn't turned to stone.
6. So far with all of my fighters doing regular attacks, I can walk into the battle, and no spells will be sucessfully cast on me. (Except for healing of course.) There are rare freakish disasterous circumstances when it does happen. But then it's usually game over anyway.

This will be a 20 minute battle no matter what you do, so be patient, and keep a cool head. You'll win, just try not to panic.

Now, when you do beat her, you are rewarded the opportunity to lay waste to her alter ego, sealed inside the Silver Trumpet. Compse both songs from the trumpet, and play the "Evil Melody." Do NOT save after you play the song, save before. Otherwise, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Anywhere you can fight random battles you can also fight the alter ego. The same basic strategy works for both.

There is a VERY cheesy way to kill her and anyone, but you need Precis or Chisato to pull it off. You should never read this. But try and beat them normally first at least.
Spoiler:
If you managed to get an Algol, equip, and have them run up and keep hitting any enemy. Instant death will happen eventually, but the shield must block an attack for it to work. 100% success if that character blocks with the shield. This will work on Gabriel, Queen, and Indelacio, and his much harder version. You will get normally rewarded for it too.

Rewards:
Gabriel Celeste: Angel Armband, Silver Trumpet
Queen Isiela (spelling is off, her alter ego): 2,000,000 exp or something like that, Levantine Sword, Angel Armband (both drops are rare)

Angel Armband: Equipped, you absorb all elements. When you fight with it, it has the effect that the Eternal Sphere has. The two stack with each other, so double effect if you have both. Recommend you fight the Queen until you have 4 Angel Armbands.

It helps if you fill us in on your processor speed. It also helps if sound is diabled in your NES emu. Although I can take a good guess. I run (insert random amount of)NNNesterJ and winamp, and MP3's play fine. SPC's and there's a very slight slowdown. So, based on that, you have a 350MHz-450MHz. Here's an idea, listen to the NES music. =p

Over the course of Jade's progress, I've been working on a hack of FF2. I've also displayed some screenshots of Jade's potential, as well as FF2's potential. I can take a hint, nobody likes the game. But why? Well, over some bullshit polls and opinions I've been gathering, there are a few reasons. (None to be disclosed, aside from Jathys's "FF sucks" response.)

So, I'll be making a hack to try and correct some of the obvious problems with FF2. Though I won't go into detail about the hack, I will say this. The game will be tolerable enjoyable when I'm done with it. At this time, I do not have any screenshots to show off........yet.

That's all for now. Any thoughts?

OK, I lied.
As promised, but maybe not here, SCREEN SHOTS!

Showing off the new font.

That's not normal damage, that's much higher.

Multi target spells, also higher damage.

Firion's starting stats, with 10 minutes of game play.

Maria's starting stats, with 10 minutes of game play.

Gus's starting stats, with 10 minutes of game play.

Minh's starting stats, with 10 minutes of game play.

I can assure you, those stats are not achivable with 10 minutes of play.

Also, since the font has undergone a huge transition, there are now many added weapon and armor icons.

Well, I decided to make a crap little mini hack. Jathys would refer to such as an "Arena" hack, so I'll do the same. *twiddle* This is for FF2 if you haven't picked up on it yet. *shot*

You need to patch this to Demi's translation, v1.03 without the title screen fix.

Details:
* This hack puts some rather odd enemies on the world map, and you probably wouldn't expect them to show up there.
* There's no chance to win the opening battle, I made sure of that.
* The focus of the hack rests around Altea, the town you start by.
* The weapon shop has the best weapons, all very expensive.
* Armor shop has no changes, you need to win the better gear.
* All of the encounters on the world map have been changed. Very different than before. I have lack of screenies, because I didn't want to spoil it.
* Some battles may be an endurance match, but once you have the proper gear, everything is killable.
* Magic is stronger, so beware.
Encounters: (damn, spoils it anyway.)
Behemoth: (blue) The easiest battle.
King Behemoth: (tan) Endurance match, hits very hard, but not that accurate.
Iron Giant: Hits hard and often, not much defense.
Tiamat, Beelzebub/Satan, Astaroth: All equally difficult.
Emperor: By far the most HP, a bit of an endurance match. The ultimate goal of victory rests on defeating him. But, he's not impossible like he once was. (In terms of the original game.)

Enjoy.

Well that's his opinion, and here's mine. Although only having played the game for about 5 hours, I like what I see. By far the graphically best game I've ever seen. This far surpasses Suikoden III and Samurai Warriors. Haven't heard too much music yet, but what I have heard isn't making me turn the volume down.

There's also voice-overs during conversation, and you have the option to turn them off, leave them on with subtitles, just use subtitles, etc.

The battle system is completely fluid, much better than SO2.

The storyline has been rather, odd so far. I'm still dubious about it. Plenty of comedy in it though. This shouldn't be a disappointment in any way.
