Right drag to pick up tiles, sorta like RPG Maker. Also right drag on the tile palette.

Maybe middle click/4th button click to pop up a tile palette

Doable, but only after I replace the sloppily-coded scrollers with more stable versions.

Edit: Next time, I'll have...
* More named entities
* Cleaner interface
* More data spy windows
* Maybe a built-in TSC codec?
* Map resizing
* Entity editing?

Also, I made this within mere hours last night. From scratch. No framework from older/other projects.

I'll try loading that map from the IDE, and figure out exactly -what- property is invalid.

I can tell you this: something in the header, or object data is too high to handle.

Sorry, my bad.

It searched for "data\doukutsu.exe", and checked for Button = 0, aka nothing pressed at all. Both are fixed now. Please redownload, same link as earlier today.


As for Main Artery... that's the fish fight right?

Bounds checking... noted.

So what's the status? What does Miza have that "DWxEdit" doesn't, and vice versa? Which would you rather use?


As for that second question:
* reads level settings from exe, including level name
* has full entity support (aside from adding/removing, can't find a nice spot to put the button)
* can edit any known aspect of both maps and entities.

That's because "Nothing" means they have no actual image. The door opening and frame are in the map. It's the TSC code that makes them work as doors. There's a "Door" type too, it's sprite fits right over the opening.

Check any doorway's TSC script for half the answer:

FAI and FAO fade the screen in and out respectively with the effect specified, TRA does the actual move to another map, but good luck decoding the parameters.


BTW: new build up.

Edit: A start on documenting the game files, and Miza usage.

New version up. Includes some of Blackhole's descriptions, bounds checking, the ability to determine backdrop parallax style (fixed, slow, equal, blackness and Artery style), and a safeguard against writing to the EXE while it's still running in the bg.


Kindly explain why the TSC code posted earlier doesn't work out.

It's not illegal to ask for an IPS as-is, but the better the guarantee that such a patch would make your rom work... shit I get a Pakled flashback... the more copyrighted data would be in that patch, and it's instantly illegalized.

I didn't write PET, but the pics folder can be made by opening your ROM in RS-Ball and clicking a button. Easy as pie.

Some extra commands I deciphered today...
CNPxxxx:yyyy:zzzz	Change entity with TSC script X to Type Y

CNP1000:0063:0002 in BARR.TSC changes the Nothing hidden in
the ground to Flipping Toroko. Nothing has script 1000,
Flipping Toroko is type 63. Later, the Nothing right above
the door is changed to Balrog and five more Nothings are
changed into Energy Shards (1) after defeating him.


CMPxxxx:yyyy:zzzz Change map tile X:Y to Z

CMP0004:0008:0080 in BARR.TSC and the five that follow it
replace the doorway with a busted-up one.


BSLxxxx Start a boss fight or something

CMU0004 CNP0400:0068:0002 BSL0400 in BARR.TSC changes Tame
Balrog into Boss Balrog (first style) and lets you fight
him. TSC script #400 is called when you defeat him.


ANPxxxx:yyyy:zzzz Animate entity with TSC script X, but how?

CNP0400:0012:0000 ANP0400:0020:0004 in BARR.TSC changes
Balrog into Beaten Balrog and calls ANP to make him fly
away. A message is shown right after, which pauses the
animation.

Because I couldn't verify them. Instead of adding new entries, let's try adding which sprite set they're in instead, like having "Mahin (regular)" instead of just "Mahin".
