Well, we were taught that Jesus existed. He was born in Nazareth. He was crucified too. It's all recorded on census, apparently.

Too bad God couldn't sign his birth certificate, would've been final proof

Honestly, I believe he existed, but it remains to be seen whether he was who he said he was. Mythology is usually very distorted, but the fact that his existance is recorded signifies that he was someone very influencial and special.

Buying expensive speakers won't make a really cheap amp sound any more impressive. Which amp did you buy? Which brand?

If you're going to spend thousands on speakers, why did you buy a cheap amp in the first place? If you want a quality sound set-up, I'd go for Dolby Digital decoding instead. I think the PS2 and XBox support it, I don't think the Gamecube does though. All the next generation consoles will probably support Dolby Digital with up to nine channels, negating the need for DPL II on consoles.

I've got a Sony microsystem hooked up to my PC, and interchange it with all my consoles. It's not totally high quality, but it does the job for all my games at the moment. It makes World of Warcraft sound cool You have to put your purchases in perspective.

This will be my third time. First time was on the UK Mutter tour in London. Second was the Reise, Reise tour in Manchester, and now I'm going to see them on their second leg in the UK, in Cardiff

Rammstein is without a doubt the most spectacular live show on earth and plays home to some of the most fantastic music on Earth. If you've never seen what their live show looks like, download some videos to see what you're missing out on. I'm a die hard fan of Rammstein, and I would've gone to see them in Wuhrleide in Berlin if I hadn't been a student and totally too broke to do it.

Right, that's it.

Legion, Knuck, welcome back to the board, it's been too long
You're quite welcome, but please abide to the board rules, even though we're having a hard time enforcing them.

It's political correctness gone wrong. Ignore it. You could be far worse in WoW context

Not a big fan of Dillinger Escape Plan, I think they suck. However, I was there at Reading '02 when the poop incident happened... That was funny

Yeah, it would be cool if they come back. I wish the board was like the good ol days in 2001-2002 again. Other cool people like Erkdog, Jizuko, and Valcion should also come back to staff.

And WB Legion, I knew you would come back, you always do. lol

sup knuck, yd

There's not a lot we can do to bring them back. If they come back it's thoroughly their choice, and I think they've tired of the board altogether, not just those in charge. It would be nice though.

The staff reshuffle is intended to put a solid leadership in place so that the staff can run the board smoothly again. It won't change the things that made all the oldbies leave, because ultimately you can't change those things about a board.

Name: Katie
Screen Name: Kasumi-Astra
Sex: Female
Area of Expertise: Moderation, Staff-User relations (warnings particularly)
Skills: Knowledge of HTML, PHP, SQL, Javascript as well as other languages. I have a reasonable knowledge of the Acmlmboard code and features.
Highest Obtained Power Level: Full Moderator - Acmlm's Board; FTP Access, Local Moderator - Final Fantasy VII Citadel; Admin and Board Owner - own private board.

Anya, Blades, Colleen, drjayphd, Grey, Hiryuu, Jesper, Kribynite, NSNick, Rydain, Tarale, Yiffy Kitten, Toxic, Uncle Elmo, ||Bass (In alphabetical order)

Reasons I would make a good admin:

I have been at Ace's for three years now. During that time I've made friends with many people here, some have left, many have stayed, many friends I have made while I've been here. Anybody that I've met here on the board can call me a friend because I would never turn someone away if they had a question or if they wanted to talk. It is quality that makes me a good candidate to be an administrator. I try to be as approachable and as friendly as possible, when I am acting as a moderator, a general staff member, a long time member of the board or just a user.

I have dedicated a lot of time and effort to the board's future. Besides my every-day staff duties, I have been envolved with board development. When Acmlmboard 2.0 seemed to be on the horrizon, I spent a lot of time making concepts for the look of the new board. I've also been envolved with the development of new features, from conception to implementation. Most of these features were introduced on my privately hosted Acmlmboards, from the old Square Moon board to my private dev board. My latest project is converting the board's colour scheme system to CSS. I am planning to finish the project of the summer break. When the project is finished I plan to submit the code to Jesper as a prototype, which can be introduced into a future build.

Whenever it has been required for me to carry out my duties as a staff member, I have always felt I have been very effective in carrying out my duties. When warning users, I know how to be assertive. When advising users on their conduct, I know how to make a friendly suggestion. When posting regularly, I know I can join discussions and talk to people and not let my past judgements affect me. When it is required of me to take action, I know how to think independently and creatively. I feel that I people I have stood next to on staff know I can get a message across to users that need to be "dealt with" very effectively, in relation to good reactions to PMs I have sent to users in the past.

I feel that ultimately, anyone who I would be working with if I was promoted to administrator would find it easy to work with me. I offer my opinion without fear, and judge people on the present, not their past. If I were promoted, I would treat my fellow staff members of any level with the respect that they deserve. I do not like to discard old friends because of a single arguement or a stupid mistake. However, if for any reason I find that respect has been misplaced in a user, I am quick minded and act in the best intrests of those involved and the board in general.
I stay at the board for the people that post, and the good times we have talking, but I defend the good of the board when it is needed, before users.

I feel that it is my relationship with the board as a whole that gives me the strongest reason to apply for admin. When the times have been tough, I have tried to put my first judgements and preconceptions behind, and instead thought of the possibilites. When many have said that the board is finished, I knew I wanted to stay around. I honestly do not think that what happens here will have any greater significance in the world, and as far as that is true I will take events with a pinch of salt and continue to come here to see my friends and participate in discussion. I come here for the "Fun Posting Experience", and to enrich myself while trying to uphold that motto. Whether it is through staff, board modification and maintainance, moderation or making friends, I gain a lot personally by coming to Acmlm's. If I am promoted, it will allow me to give much more back to the community for the benefit of myself, and everyone else here.

What I Plan to Accomplish as an Administrator:

I hope to play a big part in the board's future. With development becomming a bigger subject in the near future, I want to be a key part in bringing that future to the board. My interest in producing new features and improving the board system in general means that my ideas would be greatly valuable when planning where to go next. It is my view that keeping the posting experience constantly changing makes the board a vibrant and interesting place to come to post. I believe that this has been a big factor in the board's success, and that it should continue to play a big part in the future. My promotion to administrator would mean that this will always remain an issue, and I will regularly dedicate time to keep the subject fresh on the agenda of the board.

Name: Katie
Screenname: Kasumi-Astra
Sex: Female
Area of Expertise: Board feature creation, board concepts, colour schemes.
Skills: Knowledge and experience of the Acmlmboard code, regular use of photoshop for web graphics, good knowledge of web design principles and practices.

Highest Obtained Power Level: Full Moderator - Acmlm's Board; FTP Access, Local Moderator - Final Fantasy VII Citadel; Board Owner - Own board and personal dev board.

Languages I Have Experience With: HTML, SQL, CSS, Java, Python, PHP, C++, Javascript.

Time to Dedicate to Acmlmboard: For small features, improvements, possible maintainance: 0-1 hour every night. For major new features: 2+ hours week, depending on nature of features, importance to the board and pending on university placement.

Recommendations: Jesper, ||Bass, Grey, Windwaker (Pending others. If you would like to support me and I haven't asked you, please PM me)

Submissions: On request via PM.

Past programming experiences:
Currently working on converting the board's colour scheme system and board layout to CSS.
Projects at uni have included:
- A 2D skiing game in Python
- An ATM program in C++
- A Chatroom in Java
- A Database manipulation website using HTML, SQL, Javascript and Perl
- A Database design project using normalisation, dependency diagrams and database design principles.
- A log file display script, using Python and regular expressions to interpret a log file, and build an XHTML document formatted with CSS to display information.

I also run a site for my anime society and an Acmlmboard for discussion.

What I hope to accomplish as a programmer:
From early on in my time at Acmlm's I've been readily participating in the future of the board. I enjoy coming up with new and original ideas for the board, functional, cosmetic and recreational. The current project that is underway is the conversion of the board's colour scheme system and board layout to CSS. This work has been undertaken on my own personal devboard, which I invested in new hosting facilities to set up. As a work in progress, I managed to convert 99% of all layout attributes from PHP variables to CSS classes, although it is still at an early stage. If I am given the official role as programmer, I would like to bring this work to Acmlm's board when it is finished.

In the past I have also found original ways to solve problems. At Square Moon, I gave all staff members the ability to ban a user for an hour, in the case of abusive users. This meant that staff could keep nuissances at bay until the ban could be reviewed by an admin. I plan to bring helpful ideas and solutions to Acmlm's although only ones that would fit the context of the board (nb, not the example I mentioned ).

Jesper has done a truely admirable job in improving the board from a staff point of view, and has implemented countless security solutions that keeps the board safe every day. He has pledged that once the functional improvements have been made, that his attentions would shift to the "fun" aspects of the board. It is very important to me to be a part of that, to deliver on my promise to make those fantastic possibilities a reality, and to take a step towards that mythical 2.0.
Acmlm's is a unique board. It's grown beyond it's ROM Hacking roots. It's a board for people who like boards. It's the board user's board. It's the Fun Posting Experience.

The unique nature of our home demands a fresh environment, and I plan on helping that keep growing.

NB - I hope my past experience and what I want to do with the board speak for themselves as why I would make a good programmer. Personal attributes have little affect on how well someone codes, so I put my effort into explaining what my plans are. Thanks- Kass
