First off; what is this picture for -- does it have a purpose? If so, the purpose isn't particularly clear to us when we view the picture.

My main criticism is that this seems fairly random. It is not clear to the viewer (in this case me) what the picture is about -- it more seems like you've just picked pictures you like and thrown them together. From our point of view, it's kinda confusing -- we're not sure what to say about the picture; how to comment on what you've done well or badly, etc.

My second criticism is the text. If I were able to read it, I might have a better idea of what your picture is for; but I can't read it. blue on black is very hard to read, and I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea what your picture says.

All in all, I recommend:

* Making sure your text is readable
* Making sure that your pictures are cropped more neatly -- I can see white stuff on the outside of some of those
* Trying to make sure that it is clear to the viewer what this picture is for -- if it's a signature for a board, or whatever.

Hope this helps

Bleh, my machine forced me to shut it down today. I was not happy....

But mostly I don't turn this computer off; I just let it sleep.

It's not the color, I belive it's the font that cannot be read.

I think it's a combination of both. And yeah, the first word in that is completely illegible -- perhaps due to the compression used when saving this picture?

I'm wondering if there is a "story" behind this piece; based on the "friends" thing.

Maybe Lulu and the other guy in the top corner are friends, but the bigger guy isn't friends with them so he's sad? That might explain why he's crying, and also the "HAHA" ???

I really don't know though, I'm just guessing.

I use the protocol so that I can speak to a handful of individuals; but I do not use the client.

I use either Adium, Trillian or MirandaIM.

I alternate. I think I used to, but the experience of having braces meant that if I favored one side more with chewing -- that side got sorer. So, I began alternating in order to even out the pain.

Apparently there is a public sculpture that members of the public aren't allowed to photograph!

The sculpture is in Chicago, in Millennium Park and taxpayers paid a few million for it -- and despite that, they still aren't allowed to photograph it.

The reason being that it's apparently a copyrighted sculpture. Chicago is even spending money policing people who try to take a photo of the publically funded sculpture. The artists's sold his art to the City, but he says nobody is allowed to photograph it....

Sounds pretty stupid to me. If it's public art, it should be available for that kind of thing. Particularly as the public paid for it!

Bleh....

I only remember that I used to chew on one side before, because I had quite a bit of a "learning" process to go through with the braces.

Chew on any given side too long, and your teeth ache.

It used to still happen years later too, without the braces, but it's gotten better now.

Posted on 02-07-05 05:39 PM, in What browser do you use? Link
I use a variety of browsers, but mostly Firefox. I also use Safari, Camino and Opera from time to time.

I also use Internet Explorer. However, I am not fond of it. I have to admit that Firefox, Safari, Camino and Opera spoil the user compared to IE in terms of features and customisability. After using any of them, it becomes hard to go back to IE, just cause you've gotten so used to a lot of the nice, little things that the alternate browsers offer.

There's also the security aspect. Let's face it, IE is the most widely exploited browser out there. This is pretty much what you have to expect from a Microsoft Product (ie, not well liked amongst many people) with a huge market share. But it does make IE usage a fairly sucky experience unless you bolster IE's security with other utilities.... (or only go to websites you know you can trust)

So, now I only use IE in cases when I need ActiveX, on trusted sites. That means -- only for Windows Update, and the specialised internal and external sites used for my workplace.

Alternate browsers for everything else.

As for whether people should use one browser or not over another -- use whatever is best for you. But don't bash anything else unless you've tried it for a month (good amount of time to really get to know something, not too short, not too long) and then found you don't like it.

* The "Attention Whore" "Whiny Emo-Kid" attitude that many people have -- the labelling of people and the fact that this gets in the way of those people who genuinely do need help.

* Anti-(insert system here) zealotry. If you don't like some hardware/software/operating system/game console/browser/mouse/usb cup warmer, that's fine. Just don't use that as a springboard for flaming people.

Simple question -- which Operating Systems are you running?

You can vote more than once for those of you who run multiple OS's for various reasons.

List is very generic -- I would rather see you elaborate on this in your post

With regards to graphics editing...GIMP never actually did what I needed it to do. It's why I got a Mac, and it's why I still keep my Windows install. But then -- Graphics Editing will depend entirely though on what you need to do as far as that goes. For most people who would otherwise use Photoshop for resizing images and stuff, the GIMP will suit them fine.

But yeah, I use Windows (XP), Mac (OSX Panther) and Linux (Fedora) and now find myself using the Mac the most.

At work I use many versions of Windows. I think all of them?

Put your mouse over the text. It will change color. At least, in Firefox it does; somebody is using the damned hover thing in CSS. Grr...
