We had an Xbox since around when they first came out, and it broke. Surprise. We don't have any games anymore, I don't know what happened to them.

From what I've seen, they can't go very high. Also they're kind of blurry... and ugly. Maybe I've only seen the shitty ones.

Good to know. I thought I was the only honest dirty person left.

Anyway, I have a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard combination. But the mouse doesn't work. So I have a shitty mouse that came with a different computer, but at least it's got two buttons and a wheel. It says VAIO on it, which is the same computer I beat the shit out of with a wrench last year.

EDIT: Oh yeah, so the mouse is right and even.

Damn your honest critique. I'll just cry and not comment.

Gandalf (the grey): Whenever I tried messing around with the width of any of the fingers, it threw off the whole thing... even getting the thumb to look as half-decent as it does was annoying. Anyway, it has a black border, so it should show up just fine on any color scheme, dagnabbit.

After thinking about it for a while, I realized I'm probably not the first one to discover this. There are probably whole websites devoted to it. But I haven't seen any (I haven't looked yet) and I came up with this all on my own.

This is two things: a technique and a challenge. First, the technique. If you've played Mario Sunshine you probably know about the water-sliding thing you can do. That is, spray some water on the ground in front of you, run forward, dive with B, and you'll "wet" slide as far as you want. You can get going really fast. Now, you can also steer while doing this. With a little bit of practice, you can slow down, turn in any direction (with enough space), and start speeding up in the direction without breaking the slide. You can also "hop" by bressing B again, but when you land you're "dry" sliding, and you'll quickly come to a stop. You can probably see where this is going.

I was messing around on Sirena Beach when I noticed that if I built up enough speed, I could shoot up one of the hills on the edge of the beach and keep going to the back of the outside area. With a lot of practice and pathfinding (I was bored) I found I could do entire laps around the stage, both clockwise and counter-clockwise. The counter-clockwise lap was the first I successfully did, but I like the clockwise one better. So, here's the deal. (I'm typing this from memory, and I'm sure it's confusing just reading it, but if you try it a couple of times you'll probably get which landmarks I'm referring to...)

To go counter-clockwise, stand on the beach facing the hotel. Look at the right side of the beach. There's a somewhat steep grassy hill next to the right-hand "wall". You can run towards this and start a wet slide to just make it up... then there's a stretch of mostly-flat grass, just before another small hill. Sometimes it's hard to build up enough speed to make it up this hill in the flat land, so to be safe you can veer left a bit and go up the gentler brick-path part. For reference, now you should be around a little plaza thing at the back-right side of the hotel. The plaza thing has stairs around its edges but also some walls, so make sure if you go through it you only hit the stairs. Now, of course, you're going to slow down so you can make a sharp turn around the back of the hotel. The fun part's coming up. There's no problems behind the hotel, but when you reach the end of it and turn left, make sure you hit the brick path going along the side of the hotel. It leads down the stairs; if you drop off the short cliff without going down the stairs, you lose your slide. So, at the bottom of the stairs, you have to quickly go right around the fence, then just shoot on down to the beach. It takes a bit of practice to be able to make it up the first hill again without breaking the slide.. basically, you have to go along the beach and get pretty close to the water by the time you hit the "right" side again, then slow down and do a sharp turn to the left (towards the starting hill)... if you're close enough to the shoreline, you should get enough speed to make it up.

That's counter-clockwise. If you're anything like me, it'll take a lot of practice before you can complete a whole lap, and a lot more practice before you can do more than one in the same slide.

Now for clockwise. You're just going the opposite way along the same route, but it's pretty different to execute. So, build up enough speed to make it up the left hill. At first it seems hard, but there's kind of a sweet spot you just have to find. Once you've made it up the hill, the hardest obstacle of the course is next. See the fence? You're going along the left side of the fence, and when it ends, you have to immediately cut around it and hope you have enough speed to make it to the flat part at the bottom of the stairs. If you don't get the direction right, you get caught on the other side of the fence, slowly sliding towards it with no way to save yourself. Anyway, you just have to practice that to get it right. Once you do, the rest is fairly clear sailing. From the flat area at the bottom of the stairs (recap), you're just going to aim towards the stairs and go straight; it doesn't take much speed to make it up. You probably have the rest figured out. Just go right around the back of the hotel, right again, and straight down the series of hills that are so much trouble going the other direction. Sometimes the trees give you problems, but generally they're easy to avoid. Now you're back on the beach. Again, you have to get close to the water to be able to build up enough speed to make it up the hill you started at.

Again, this takes a lot of practice. The hardest part is the fence/stair thing, once you get that, it's a piece of cake. Although I still screw it up enough to keep me from getting a high amount of laps. Which brings me to the challenge.

How many laps can you get consecutively in each direction? That is, times around the whole area without losing your slide. Unfortunately I wasn't counting, but I think my bests are something along the lines of:
Counter-clockwise: 5
Clockwise: 3

But those are just guesses. Anyway, if you're curious I also planned out some courses in Pianta Village and Delfino Plaza, but the ones on Serena Beach are best.

Is it just me, or does this game kick ass?

I started out playing it, and I was like, okay, there's a lot less text, so that's cool, but these chozo things make it just as linear as Fusion. So I kept trying to do the opposite of what they told me but I didn't get anywhere. Then my second time through the game (on Hard mode) I accidentally discovered how to get to Ridley the first time through Norfair. I was like, holy shit. Then I went and read about all the other "sequence breaking" shit. Now I always get the Varia suit immediately after getting the bombs, and I have the screw attack before I fight any bosses.

Anyway, this game is massively cool to fuck around with and has a massive replay value. I only have two more endings to get, but it's fun just running around, getting everything possible without fighting bosses, and so on.

Then there's minimum-percent completion. Holy shit. I mean, 15% is one thing. But 9%? No energy tanks, one missile tank, NO FUCKING LONG BEAM, etc.. Great challenge.
