You have to change the palette in the palette editor in lunar magic (Just click the star).
The palette number should be in one of the stickies, or someone else knows it.

If the leveldesign is good and logic, it Shouldn't matter if there is ExGFX or not, but ExGFX of all kind have to suit the level, else it's just out of place, and it has to be done good (No unfinished, incomplete or corrupt graphics please.

As some allready guessed, I'm working on a SMW-hack also. Wanted since the release of Demo World TLC, but now, I finally came around to it.

It's nothing that great, and the first few levels do not spot any ExGFX at all.

Last errors I spotted and palette issues solved and please try my Demo.

Screenshots (in order of appearance):

Overworld

Mushroom Kingdom

The black square in the middle is fixed, and yes, it looks plain.... but. that's not all.

That looks better, doesn't it? I may change that, thanks to a suggestion from Kawa-chan.

Levels

Mushroom Kingdom

The old Yoshi House.

Lets-a go!

Thanks for the suggestions, Golden Yoshi, I gonna fix those.

fabio, it looks like it, but it certainly aren't just altered level, as I once read in a tutorial, it's best to erease the hole level, and that's what I just did. It's coincidence.

About ExGFX, I'm not so sure about that one, may a basic FG / BG replacement, nothing extraordinary.. but what to use?

Ah.. I got my SNES back.. time for some real testing ^^

Multiple exits on a yellow level is just wrong!

Posted on 07-27-05 02:10 AM, in Expanding the Overworld Link
I think working like peter_ac suggested would be best, but could also give some quite interessting things to storyline telling to the game.

For example, the player completed the game, and every submap, and the event after that last level, changes the overworld the player is in now, and the others he is not in. It allows up to double the space of the overworld, and if done correct (With the special world palettes), it could be done very well.

But: The player can't return to the old levels.

Solution: Erease the 3 savegame option and replace it with first OW and second OW.

ie. After beating the last level, the story is on a altering point, a major plot change, and the World gets destroyed or something, and the event changes the hole overworld in one loud animation, but the player has to go back to another submap (cos of silent events), cos he can't pass trough.
The level before that last level, gave a saving prompt and then some ASM coding would had not only saved the current savegame, it would also copy it to a second location, so the player can revert back and play those old levels, but can't advance further than he had in the other savegame.

I hope you understand what I try to say.

HH: Metroid was also $9 as opposed to $27 for Zero Mission.

The Lost Levels, aka Super Mario Bros. 2 (J) was released in the third installment of the Famicom Mini series (I own a copy), and yes, it is a Famicom Disk System Game. And hard as hell.

best and most easiest thing would be: Let LM do the expanding work for you, and just edit the game in there.

and about bigger Overworld, read the other thread for that.

The Screenies look good, but:

The Title Screen Logo looks kinda plain 9in contrast to the intro.

The Firetrowsers schould face the other side, if you want to recreate the same look as in Super Mario Bros. 3, cos they were kinda the engine of the ships.

And the Castle on the Moon still looks out of place.

A list of games that stream their Music would be interesting.

Edit: No need to assemble it, there is one on SNESmusic.org

Did have this as a consellation prize though.

EDIT: My bad...it exists on the new site. I forgot they got rehosted.

I didn't even know TLC had an ice thing, I was told I stole the idea from Fusoya but I had no clue he even dide an "ice thing" in his hack, lol.

Weren't there just trowable Ice-Blocks? And some frozen Coins and stuff?
That was in SMB3 before any was gonna hack that game. But DD made a new Powerup, wich freezes coins and let them use as platforms.

I wouldn't call that stealing, but creativity and knowledge to put it off.
