Wow! It's been a long time since we've heard from this...I'm glad to know this hack didn't join the unrevered group of cancelled hacks .

Hotel Horror- Pretty good, I'd change the BG if I were you to give it a nice new look, the objects on the table are a bit illegible, the TV can use some minor tweaking, and is that a wine glass on the table?

Blue Switch Palace- Awesome screen, it gives off a great wintry feel!

Ruined Ruins- No complaints here.

Bombs and Bullets- Ditto.

Temple Of Fire- Looks a bit drab, mainly because of the logs. You oughta add a bit more detail to the logs in the FG and BG.

Rhino Oil- Really nice looking screens here!

Starlight Tower- Cool screens, I like the FG and door in the 2nd screen.

Great to see that this hack is finally nearing completion! I'll be sure to download the finished product.

I seriously think that if you really do put a ton of effort into your hack and you have something extremely fun to play and well put together, it will definitely get noticed. I mean, all the really great hackers around here: BMF, peter_ac, DD, JJ, etc do get enough attention around here, and just because one pretty effortless hack got some attention is nothing to go completely crazy over. I certainly don't think it deserves as much attention as it's getting, but I think the stickyness of the thread might be attracting people to it, and the fact the DD decided to do this might make people trust his judgement.

My final point being...

Great hacks most of the time will get their well deserved attention.

I seriously don't know why a lot of people have enjoyed SMB Transparent, but when something much better comes along it will definitely blow it out of the water.

I voted for a SMW style overworld with some ExGFX. I liked your overworld setup already, plus with the SMW OW you can have cooler shaped ledges, hills and whatnot as opposed to the squarish SMB3 OW. So I say keep the SMW OW.

The new screens of World 0 look cool. Very nice BG's here. I really can't see anything wrong with them, so good job.

I somewhat doubt that one of the new characters will be killed off so quickly, especially the ones that were made stars. What would be the point in making them stars of the show for a few episodes? I'm really stumped as to who it may be. After reading some small previews of future episodes and seeing what characters appear in these episodes, we can eliminate these from the possibility list...

Charlie, Locke, and Claire, because in the episode after next week Charlie gets mad at Locke for having an interest in Claire. Also Sawyer because he is having a flashback in a few episodes.

There really shouldn't be any excuses for having so many glitches in a hack. I understand it is your first demo, and I obviously don't expect anyone to be an expert the first time around so naturally there will be some problems that need to be worked out. However, you should know that glitches make hacks look very unprofessional, especially an abundance of them that take away from a lot of other elements in the hack, so it should be common sense. Also, your level design was unorganized and tricky, so that needs some work as well. Here is my advice to you...

1. Start the level over...clear all objects and sprites from the level and start out with a clean slate so you make a level exactly how you want and you it's easier for you to follow, rather than using the skeleton of the original, because then you don't necessarily remember what you inserted and where.
2. Absolutely no glitches at all. Avoid using any glitched object or sprite, even just one obvious glitch can deter players from continuing.

Well...what can I say about these screens...they really aren't good. Plain BG's, lack of action, bad palettes around the cement blocks, and bad grammar definitely don't contribute to the quality of a hack. Just from looking at these screens it appears you need plenty of work and tune-up on your hack...try again.

*Digs through 535 PM's to find an old level name editing tutorial I gave out once*

Here it is...

1. Make sure you have YITable.txt in your EggVine folder.
2. Make a copy of this file and rename it YITable.tbl. Put it in your EggVine folder.
3. Load your ROM in Translhextion.
4. Go to Script--> Open Thingy Table, and load your YITable.tbl file. Some popup about tokens will come up, just click OK. Another small window will appear, click "Thingy View Active" and the # on this window.
5. Go to Jump To-->Offset, and enter x114C50. This will take you to the beginning of the level name text. It goes in order from the Welcome level all the way to Extra 6.
6. You can't just enter the text, you have to enter the hex value equivalents to the text characters. A complete list of hex equivalents is found in the YITable.txt file, so refer to that. Note: Be careful not to overwrite the "###" things in the text, this makes the level name text skip a line or go to the next level, so try to keep your text within the boundaries of the "###" things.

If it's still too confusing you may IM me and I can explain it to you step by step. My AIM is STROP1986. Good luck with making a YI hack, you have a long road ahead of you, but don't give up!

Man...so many people complain about EggVine...well I've got some news for you...IT"S YOUR ONLY HOPE! I don't believe Squash is working on it anymore, and unless you think a hex editor would be easier, there simply isn't an alternative. EggVine the way it is right now is enough to get the job done. I'm no genious when it comes to this hacking stuff and I could use EggVine, so how hard can it possibly be? People oughta stop complaining about this editor because it has enough capabilities, and just because it doesn't show graphics while editing doesn't mean it's completely useless. Some people don't even use level editors and have to rely on solely hex editors and the like, so just be glad something's been made for YI.

Great job, Link! These screens looks very nice and the hack has a cool little cartoony look to it. Luigi's skin looks a bit too dark though...but other than that it's all good. My favorite screens are the ghost ship with the rain and the swamp...I love the BG and Blargg replacement in that screen. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to playing it.
