Ha, only 30 minutes (give or take depending on bus schedules, but it roughly works out to that) each way for me.

Granted, I can't exactly do a lot of studying during the commute, but I can at least look over key concepts before tests.

If actual CONTENT is being added to the old threads, it's OK; but at the same time, you shouldn't try to revive 10 dead discussions because odds are you aren't doing the right thing. If in doubt, ask or make a new thread if you think the other one's too old.

Welcome.

Feel the Magic has unlockables if you put certain Sega GBA cartridges into the DS.

I think the big race is going to be "Who gets their system out first?" I would not recommend rushing any console out just to compete with the others, but whoever gets theirs out first (is Microsoft the front-runner?) gets a big advantage with the early adopters.

They have the market penetration and they have the big titles coming out soon (Wario Ware comes out this week I think). Plus the DS has sold well (more than Nintendo thought it would) so it has a good head start.

I know that the PSP is going to have a big first shipment, but then we'll just have to play the waiting game. The key thing for Sony is that they have to sell out that first shipment in a matter of days. If for some strange reason that doesn't happen... uh-oh.

"breast enlargement"

I wonder if there's any women who would WANT to roll the dice on that one, even if it meant a yeast infection.

There were definitely Japanese expansions... I'm pretty sure a microphone was one and there may have been a few other things. I distinctly remember there being a way to do banking in Japan through your NES for a brief period of time - probably through that port.

DS Emulation? What the hell is the point of doing it? People have not yet had enough time to appreciate the system, and it sure looks like those dudes are coding the emulator just to show off.

Didn't see it hurt the GBA. Emulation was possible a short time after the first few dumps filtered through from Japan.

I think they should take a week or two off and then start talks again to come up with some sort of deal. Apparently linkage is off the table which is a good thing, but now it remains to be seen whether or not the players would deal with a hard salary cap. I doubt it.

Now, IF you get a deal in a few weeks, this is what you do.

- Start a huge PR campaign to get interest in the game back. Television ads, print, internet advertising, whatever.
- Release the 05/06 schedule early and have all 30 teams offer cut prices on season tickets/game packs. Maybe not a huge cut, but lower ticket pricing for next season to win the fans back.
- Schedule an All-Star tour to take place sometime between May and July mainly in cities who's hockey markets could be extremely vulnerable as a result of the lockout. Off the top of my head, stops should be in California (any arena), Phoenix, Nashville, Florida and Atlanta (automatic to make up for the loss of the 04/05 All-Star Game). Add 2-3 games in some major hockey markets for income, such as Toronto, Detroit, New York or Montreal. Split proceeds equally between the league and players.
- Allow free agent signings right away for players who would become unrestricted free agents on July 1. They'd have 4-5 months to sign everyone and have them fit in the new economic system, so you'd be able to plan out your future rather than sign a bunch of guys and then have the latest UFA's left out in the cold. Trades should be allowed immediately following the signing of a deal as well.
- Adopt a weighted-lottery system for the 2005 Entry Draft. It wouldn't be fair to give Washington a chance to land both Ovechkin and Crosby. Use a team's record over the last three seasons as a ranking method for the draft and give the team with the worst 3-year record the best odds at landing #1, and the team with the best record the worst odds - but at least everyone has a shot at landing Crosby.

Great, bring Cyrillic or whatever it is into the thread.

Our TRU in LaSalle is pretty old - it has the old style storefront and signage. But it still does great business at Christmas.

Mario was '86. It came out after the first wave of NES titles, it wasn't part of the opening game rush.

Lost Levels *is* a tough game the first time you play through it. After that it's still a decent challenge, but there's some parts that'll have you pull out your hair.

I think they're an important part of any video game fan's childhood.

Not a... well... extremely memorable one, but back then we didn't really pay any attention to the suckage.

Exactly. Plus a lot of programmers DO like the challenge; it's sort of a status symbol.

NO$GBA only became available to the public after a few years, it wasn't in the author's interest to release it to the masses who only wanted it to play games on. (Ironically, I consider NO$'s sound quality to be better than VBA's. It's a decent GBA emu too.)

Either way, there'll be an increase in amount of drug users and thus, accidents. When alcohol was outlawed, there were less alcohol users.

Well obviously if you cut off the source of something, less people are going to use it. That's pretty obvious. Regardless of whether alcohol was banned or not, if less of it was made less people would consume it. Yes, people could be in deep trouble if they were caught selling/consuming the stuff, but the stuff was hard to get anyways and the prices, I assume, were higher.

Law of supply and demand, in a sense.

I can't wait for the inevitable revolution in North Korea, although that might be a little bit of wishful thinking thanks to the Communist system.

Basically North Korea can't tick off China. If they end up doing that, then all the nukes in the world won't be able to save them.

Hm... Maybe I should check this out next week during Spring Break. I won't be playing the actual game anytime soon so if it ends up giving me a good capsule synopsis...
