Yep, I tried it earlier today and it really works, the whole thing compiles into a working FF1 ROM This definitely makes ASM hacking a lot easier and more efficient (no more NOP+JSR'ing stuff and looking for unused bytes to put code in ), and also helps understanding how the game is coded ...

Being able to do this with every ROM would be great, I'd like a working SMB2 disassemble for example I've been working on a disassembled SMB2 NSF myself recently, so I can understand what every part does, and figure out how to replace it completely with my own music code in the ROM (which I've been able to do, just need to add the sound effects) ...

Didn't take me too long to unlock them

Pretty nice ... but there's a few minor things I noticed that aren't perfectly accurate with the game, or don't make perfect sense:
- The characters are on Level 7 (like at the start), but all 9 of them are there already?
- On Level 7, their max HP should be around 300 instead of 400
- Tifa's MP bar should empty more than that after the spell ... noticed the MP refills after the battle, too?
- When they won the battle ... where's the EXP gain? It only showed the gold and items (what comes after)
- The summon should be Bahamut, not Buhamut
- In that fight where Tifa and Aeris died, they actually had very few HP left, not 0

But that's nothing to complain about, as the rest was well done and funny

Yep, that's how I've been feeling too since at least a month ... suddenly stopped posting for 6 days, posted only when I felt like it, averaged about 2 posts per day if even that (and I bet half of it comes from the Ragnarok Online thread, my last addiction ) ... the last real fun moment I've had here was the first 1-2 weeks after the board restarted

I sort of want to come back and regain hope (and fun), though ... the general atmosphere isn't something I can fix, but I can at least try to get involved more, like I used to

Hmm, I remember you were there during the Wooster spree, on 01-18-02 ... so I guess you joined at the end of 2001, at least before the first anniversary, which I almost count in the old days now

I lurked on that other board a few times, even posted there a few times about 2 years ago when it ran an older version and was more active ... But it's still about just big enough to be added to the list at the bottom if you want, especially when you compare it to the other small ones like Rusted Magick

Welcome here

Yep, I remember you too, even your old user id (540), and the random long absences ... and the furry stuff before Fyxe made it better known here ... and even your older username (Silver Fury, almost "Furry" there )

Anyway, welcome back

Then maybe we should at least revive that "all purpose" thread ... without the ACS, it should be less spammy than it sometimes was

Even Lost Threads by itself isn't a bad thing right now, it's not any worse (for spam) than the Craziness Domain we used to have in the old days, and having a hidden forum just adds a little something to the board ... it somewhat defeats its purpose to have it in the forum list (only for staff, but still, and I didn't do it), even though I get here faster from that link

As for posting new threads, I've never been good at this ... I barely had about 130 on the older board (that's one thread every 250 posts or something like that), and only 2 here (thread #1, and one about Big-Boards) ... I'm like that on other boards too

And good newbies is definitely something we need ... and have needed for a long time ... we get some, but not enough, not all of them stay, and some of the rest gets banned

Even the old assembler I use (DASM) supports this < and > ... I used it in my NSF code, for example:

doend
LDA #<silence
STA sq1_posL,X
LDA #>silence
STA sq1_posH,X
JMP read.end
...
silence
hex 7F 00 C0
dc.w silence

(part of the code for the "end of track" command in my NSF, makes the track position pointer jump to an infinite silence loop )

So if the "silence" label is at $95C2, you'll get LDA #$C2 and LDA #$95 ... quite useful ... and yep, omitting the # would make it LDA $C2 and LDA $95, zero page

For me, it's when I start acting weird and have a little trouble typing ...

Not quite like ".damnit I,m so drybbbnjk now" where I can't remember anything I did and get a hangover the day after (which happened on New Year 2003 ), which is obviously being really drunk ...

More like when I start banging my head on the wall, randomly type gibberish because I feel like it (but my normal typing was almost fine), my handwriting gets screwy, but it's all gone the next day (which also happened), I actually called it half drunk but I was drunk enough

The second situation happened after about 5 cups of wine ... but I don't get the chance to do it often at all First one (totally drunk) was with half a big bottle of mint cream, but it didn't come too suddenly (only started feeling something after 3 full glasses, but then it came gradually as I kept drinking) ...

"Jarukoth" -> "Jakuroth" is just one of many name confusions ... Kharpern was often called Kharpen, and you think people never get lost with the "Acmlm" spelling?

aclmm, acmim, acclm, aclml, acmlmclmlmclmalm ... doesn't bother me that much, and I'm perfectly fine with the easier "Milly" name some of them gave me, but it gets weird sometimes

I'd say I'm one too, using the computer almost every day since 1992 (online since 1999) does that

With my cousin (Malow), we always have plenty of stuff to say (mostly about computers, games, etc.) ... but with most others, it seems I never have anything to talk about ... my grandparents would like me to talk to them more, watch TV with them sometimes, and so on, but I'm always here on the computer doing whatever I feel like doing

But even before computers, I was already a bit unsocial ... I get in contact with more people here than I would offline otherwise At least I read the newspaper a bit every day, mostly the sports section though, and I don't speak any form of l33t offline ...

I'm using EditPlus, and also got syntax highlighting for 6502 (although pretty basic, but I can improve it)

Looks like this for me

Is VisualBoy Advance even compatible with Windows 95? (should be, but ... )

But yeah, those errors happen because you have old versions of the DLL's, that don't contain some specific functions the program uses ...

*looks at "VISUALBO.BTM" in the directory name*
... old DOS filename format? Windows 95 supports longer filenames, is that not working either?

Hmm, I had to go to the site to download it (no link here), but I tried it ... pretty nice actually, I wondered how you made that layer stuff until I decided to look at the pattern tables I also noticed a similar improvement in the background in Gemini Man's stage ...

The new level wasn't that bad, it's just a bit short or plain, maybe because it has no vertical scrolling at all ... and then there's Wood Man merging with another (doesn't look like Snake Man)

I like his "My first fan" section

Hey asshole!
I don't know who gave you the fucked up talent of demoralizing renowned artist and their songs. How dare you try to trade words with a man whose poetic capabilities are immortal to you. Stairway to heaven is an all-time original classic in rock and roll history, and you sir have basically spit on it. I hope Robert plant finds you and gags your mouth with your sorry ass lyrics

Rionlb32 AOL

Well, at least he translated them himself, not with Babelfish or whatever ... doing English -> Japanese -> English would turn the lyrics into nonsense
