It's in Hex, thats what the $ symbol represents, a hex address.

A block, that when activated, switches one sprite with another.

I had a wicked awesome idea for a level and I'm willing to do the ASM myself (even though I know jack ****).

If anyone remembers my WOOT hack, I'll be working on it for the next few months again

I was thinking of a block that when hit will turn the buzzy beetles into spinys and also turns spinys into buzzy beetles.

I agree with Kyouji, the level design just didn't speak out to me and actually pissed me off a bit. I'd rather play a level/overworld modifications only hack than an asm'd up the ass hack.

Same sentiments about Odyssey to a lesser degree.

I heard a printf comment in there

Why didn't you use C++ instead of C?

As far as I'm concerned, it had fewer fun levels than the original game, and if that holds true, it gets massive penalties on it's overall score.

It might have the best ASM, best graphics, best concept, best everything else you can think of, but if it doesnt have damned good level design and replayability, it isn't 'up there' so to speak.

Probley because "die" was an option.

No, because the hack that I want most is Kyouji's and it's not an option. That hack has some talented level design put into it I'll tell you that.

Edit: Yes I just complimented you Craw.

I say you have to explicitly ask them, they did the work to rip the graphics so you should respect that.

If he allowed a mode where you can manipulate both layer 1 and the sprite layer at the same time I'd be a happier panda than possible But that's just a minor thing, I'm perfectly happy with what he's done. He's one of the greatest when it comes to my list of online dudes.

Try to cut the level in half and put both parts in separate levels so that the sprite limit isn't exceeded. Just put launch pipe halfway and instead of using the pipe in the level, it launches you out of the pipe in the other level. The player wouldn't know a thing.

Try "total overhaul."

Basically, if the game wasn't designed with the SuperFX in mind from the beginning, don't even bother. You'd need to learn a completely new programming language anyway, since the SuperFX is just a custom 16-bit CPU. I don't think any homebrew authors have ever attempted to use it...

Something tells me no one has lost every bit of their sanity yet, otherwise someone would've been crazy enough to attempt such a feat.

Elementary my dear Kyouji, the answer is simply "Because I can."

Best. Philosophy. Ever.

Hey! I want a demo! I want to play this thing right now, I'm pretty bored and I bet this is better than most of the hacks that have disgraced this board with their presence.

The best way to test new parts is just to play the whole level. It's better to make sure the whole level is continuous and not just a bunch of different segments pasted together. It's better to make sure the whole level is one smooth thing instead of trying to test separate parts.

Oh man, this hack rocks on so many levels it registered 9.6 on the richter scale.

Seriously, this hack has the best style and level design I've seen to date. The tricks are innovating and the secrets are clever but no maliciously planted. Keep up the awesome work!
