I could imagine wanting to get away. I would never want to be famous, I'm far too private and introspective a person. If I had cameras on me all day long and people constantly coming up to me, asking for an autograph or worse - to take a picture with them (meaning I'd have to look spiffy at all times, too) - I'd break down and flee the States within days.

Edit
Hmm, after reading that interview, I must say, I didn't realize he was that introspective and deep a person. But I suppose that's not quite how the media would care to portray a comedian. They're supposed to be there for our amusement; they aren't human in the media's eyes, just trained monkies. It's refreshing. I've gained respect for the man.

I embody all the forces of nature at one time or another. I can be unpredictable and flighty like the wind, melencholy and nostalgic like the sea, warm and lifegiving like the earth and intense and serious like the flame. Going even further I can be whimsical and willowy which is associated with the Chinese element of wood, or defensive and cold like metal.

I'm not even a Star Wars fan and I can tell you the real answer. In an interview I heard on the TV Guide channel a year or so back (I have a poor sense of time, could've been longer), he said that everybody's lightsaber was the same color, and he'd be involved in a lot of grand-scale battles, so it'd be easy for the moviegoers to lose him. He wanted them to give his lightsaber a unique color, so he'd stand out and be easy to spot amongst the masses. Purple is an easier to recognize and bolder color compared to the average lightsaber.

The Keikonium says...
We have been secretive because we both knew it wasn't right.

Do not let the legality of your government dictate your morals. If it's not purely sexual a relationship and there is genuine love involved, it's not wrong. It is right. When it comes to matters of love, all those who aren't directly involved in the relationship have no idea what they're talking about.

The Keikonium says...
Thing is, my parents dont approve. They dont want me going to Hawaii, and refuse to sign for a passport for me. I have saved up enough money for a ticket (just need a few hundred more bucks for other stuff), and they know that the family would love for me to come up, but dont approve of my relationship with this girl.

If it comes right down to it, the drastic aproach is to emancipate yourself from your parents. That'd allow you to get the passport without their permission. I'm not sure how the legal system works in Canada, so seventy days might not be enough time. But first, give your parents the benefit of the doubt. They probably assume things, they think to themselves, "My sixteen year old son is dating an eleven year old girl." To them, dating implies meaningless affection and possibly sex. They probably have no idea how deeply in love you two are. If you explain it to them, they may change their minds.

The Keikonium says...
She terrifies me because she is a very "sexual" person, and being like that at such a young age, will make her think that its okay.

It is okay. Human beings are intended, by design, to become sexually active shortly after puberty begins, and biologically speaking, human beings are the only creatures on the planet that can achieve orgasm prior to puberty. Even eighty years ago it wasn't uncommon for a man in his twenties to be wed, yes, married to a thirteen year old girl. Society today has simply changed it's views about such things. Sex isn't corrupting or bad, though like any situation where one or both participants become vulnerable, bad people can make it into a horrible thing, where it is otherwise beautiful.

The Keikonium says...
So some help would be great, and if a girl is sexually active at a young age (not actual sex, but like handjobs etc, and kissing older guys), would she most likely be like that when she gets abit older, and becomes a teen?

I'm confused. She's in a relationship with you, but she does these things with others? Or did she only do them before she started going out with you? Because I was pretty sure you mentioned that you and her aren't sexually active with each other.

The Keikonium says...
I know she doesn't want her friends to know about us (only 1 of her friends does, and thinks its really cool), so I try not to be with her when her friends are around, which isn't very often. But when they are, she acts like she doesn't know me. We have talked about this, she says she hates to do it, but doesn't want her friends to hate her. I would ask her why they would hate her, and she says its because I'm older than her. I can see where shes coming from, and respect that.

You might not want to hear this, but there aren't nearly as many good people in the world as one might think. Most people are judgemental, petty and spiteful. If her friends would hate her for that, would refuse to accept the love between you two, then they aren't worth her time, and aren't really friends at all. It's a lonely world once you realize that most of the people you think are your friends turn out to be nothing of the sort, but that's life. You've got to pick up, make due and move on.

I'm rooting for you. Good luck with whatever happens.

Posted on 05-16-05 08:32 PM, in Nintendo releases Info about Revolution Link
Animal Crossing DS is confirmed online. Heard it on planetgamecube, they're quite reliable. Also, there is no foreseeably planned connectivity between the Revolution and DS. Nintendo is working on a new Gameboy, which will continue it's history of console connectivity. DS is a stand-alone, third tier.

I'm eagerly awaiting the Revolution. I have this strange mental image of it being red. Red in color, I just think something called Revolution should be the color of blood, the color closest to humanity. Anyone have an idea of what the controller might be like? It will not be a touch-pad, like the DS, Nintendo has said this multiple times. They said it, "might not have a traditional control pad or buttons." Nintendo also has invested in a gyroscopic company, it's very likely that that technology will be used in the Revolution controller.

It might not even be a "controller" in the classical sense, it could be something totally new. Also, I found it interesting that Nintendo has mentioned that they won't stop supporting the GameCube just because the Revolution is released. Since the Revolution is backwards compatable, the NR will technically have two different types of controllers, it's own and the GameCube one, so continual GameCube games can be made with the Revolution in mind. I'm very curious to see how the GameCube controller works aside their revolutionary new controller.

The gameplay graphics were atrocious, but the intro and logos, especially the ON logo was highly believeable. I actually think it's a nice name. The Nintendo ON.

The activation of smileys is disrupting my ability to post as I like. I've tried twice to have something like this...
Bolded Title: Following text.
When I use either >HTML tags< or [board code brackets] followed by a colon, it makes a smiley face. Something needs to be done about this. The best bet would be to add a "disable smileys" option when you post, or in your profile. Perhaps you could require smileys to be posted inside {fancy brackets} which aren't used in HTML or board code. Just wanted to bring this to attention.

Shyguy, you're young, you're supposed to worry about this sort of stuff. Most people realize their mortality in their teens, and have the same fears about the same thing as you. No one can tell you anything that will ease your fears. You have to cope with this on your own. I can tell you, though, that you're going to come to the same conclusion as everyone else; nobody is certain. Everyone is scared, it's the human condition. It's not a matter of overcoming it. Some people ignore it, but the best you can hope for is to accept it.

I'm just as scared as anybody else, but I accept that. I choose to live my life in a way that I can die at any time and wouldn't have major regret. I make sure to tell people what I think of them in an honest way, I make sure to express my love for those who have earned it on a regular basis. I've extensively planned for my death, including clauses allowing for new scenarios depending on how I die, so I'll leave no loose ends behind.

One day, I'll be gone from this world. I'll worry about what happens from there when the time comes.

The Yoshi Dude says...
Why is it always fire, earth, water, and wind? Where did these choices originate from?

Each culture seems to have come up with the ideas on their own. The modern conception of "traditional elements" most likely stem from the Greeks, who thought that all matter was comprised either of air, water, earth or fire, and that combinations of these produced all phenomenon.
Air + Water = Wet
Air + Fire = Dry
Earth + Water = Cold
Earth + Fire = Warm

Here's a diagram...

Okay, I was a bit off. You get the idea, though. Most of Europe (since most European languages evolved from Greek) abided by this idea until science proved otherwise. The Chinese elements are Earth, Fire, Water, Wood and Metal. They didn't realize that air existed, like most cultures back then, they thought that the sky extended infinitely, so if there's no such thing as a vaccum, there's no need to make the distinction between vaccum and air. The ancient Chinese associated the elements with the noticable planets in the sky. The ancient Japanese believed in the same elements as the Greeks, but attributed the four elements to cardinal directions and magical beasts.

In general, most ancient peoples thought that human beings were created from fire. Except for Native Americans, who thought that human beings were created from mud.

The Kitty Jedi says...
Donkeys and horses have bigger genetical diffrence than Humans have against Chimps.

Donkeys and horses can get offspring, look it up. Althought the offspring can't breed further.

And there is Lion/Tiger hybrids.

I think it's possible.

Lions and Tigers are of the same species.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liger

And by definition...
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=species
...since donkeys and horses can mate to form mules and hinnies, they are of the same species. Though if you get into technicalities, since mules and hinnies are sterile, they technically are not. Mules are a strange exception to many "rules" that we humans think we've discovered. They are an attestation to the fact that nature works in ways we cannot classify or orginize perfectly or neatly. Even moreso is the fact that hinnies (female mules) have given birth by horse or donkey fathers (never by mule fathers) numerous times in history, though it is an extremely rare occurance.

I laugh, because the more we try to explain the basics of life, the more we realize that we don't know a thing about them! But since we are never satisfied with just accepting things as they come, the charade continues.

Posted on 05-18-05 10:28 PM, in Join me. Blind yourself from the media circus. Link
Videogaming seems like a chore these days. You have to be constantly on top of mountains of information, or get lost in the tide. Release dates are tossed around, unsettling their fans, and rumors are getting more and more believable by the day. The massive media coverage on videogames has completely taken the fun out of them.

I am going to regress to the days of my youth. I didn't have internet access back then, and gathered precious few scraps of videogaming information from the occasional gaming magazine. I went to Toys 'R' Us and poked around the videogame aisle for a good thirty minutes, and that's how I chose the games I bought, not by listening to some self-important blogger or biased website. And I had fun, I was never dissapointed or upset. It was a joy, videogames were truly great back then, and I think it has more to do with the atmosphere surrounding them than the games themselves.

So I've decided I won't be seeking information on videogames from here on out. And that's saying a lot for someone whose goal in life is the assimilation of all knowledge. I'll want to know what is available to buy, but only in general, not specific dates. I want to know when to go out hunting for something to buy, but I don't want ten thousand screenshots and three gigabytes of text explaining the technical specs of a system a year before I can actually buy it.

I want things to be simple and enjoyable again. And I invite others to do the same. Break your addiction to the media vein, to the information layline, and revert back to the honest gaming ways of your childhood. Get your info about a game from the back of the box, not from sixteen different sources on the internet.

Posted on 05-20-05 05:40 PM, in Slay's Predictions; For now and the future. Link
Alright, E3 is over, or today is the last day. I heard that Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft showed off their new systems, but that Nintendo didn't give specs, show games or announce their revolutionary controller. I saw some pics, all three consoles look pretty spiffy. I'm liking the Revolution's self-loading media drive; I have one in my CD player, they're really neat looking and they have virtually no way of breaking, unlike trays.

So anyway, I was thinking to myself. What in the world could Nintendo possibly be hiding that's so unique, so creative and spectacular that they have to hide it so fiercely? So, keeping in mind what sort of technology is available at present day, I've decided to make a prediction as to what kind of controller they might release. Or rather, I'm going to tell you what kind of controller I would make, if I was in their position.

First of all, I was playing Ocarina of Time the other day and came to quite the revelation. I'm not playing a videogame with my hands. I'm playing with my thumbs. Eight, yes eight of my ten fingers go completely ignored, save for the occasional shoulder button. And yet, people complain that certain button setups are uncomfortable or badly arranged, because of the ways you have to stretch your thumb around the face of the controller.

My 'DG' controller design, as I call it (you'll see why in a minute) has no face buttons. Imagine you're holding a spherical object about the size of a large grapefruit. At each of your fingertips, save for your thumbs, there would be a button. So that's eight buttons you have simultaneous access to, and each of those buttons has a dedicated finger, so no more problems of whether your thumb is big enough to press two buttons simultaneously.

At each of your thumbs is a directional pad. But not just any type of directional pad. A floating directional pad; floating as if a contact lens floating on top of water. It is as precise and responsive as an analog stick, but it doesn't stick out. Also, these directional pads serve as two more buttons. So that's ten buttons you have absolute access to at all times. I could stop here and this would increase the quality of many games (particularly button-heavy types, such as fighters, shooters and adventure games) several times over, if only due to the sheer freedom of input.

But this is far from done. Now, with your hands still in the position of holding that orb, pull them apart so it is as if you are holding two half-spheres. Why? In each half would be a gyroscope. The game system would be able to detect when you move each individual half upward, downward, forward, backward, and side to side. Even one gyroscope would be an amazing addition to a controller, because as it stands, having an analog stick only lets you control one axis - the X/Y axis - and a gyroscope could add an X/Y/Z axis, which is thus-far unheard of in gaming. But you have two X/Y/Z axises, as well as your two directional pads and a veritable ten buttons. Such a controller, of course, would have to be completely wireless. I call it the DG controller, an acronym for Dual Gyroscopic controller. Imagine the possibilities...

You're playing an FPS game, but you've played them before. In previous shooters, if you dual wield guns, that simply means you double up your firing power and rate, or get to shoot two different guns simultaneously. With the DG controller, you have two seperate targeting reticles on screen; each gyroscope directing one of them. With the two directional pads you're able to move forward, backward, turn left and right as well as strafe left and right, and you've got ten buttons to boot.

You're playing an adventure game. One major flaw in this genre is that you use the same stick to move as you do to aim your attacks. Not anymore. With the directional pads you navigate your environment, but with the gyroscopes, you physically direct the motion in which you swing your sword. Perhaps you're taken to a first-person perspective and are put in the shoes of a swordsman dueling another swordsman. You don't just press a button to activate an uppercut, you control your sword's motion on the fly, and still have another gyroscope to maneuver a shield, and buttons to activate special items and abilities.

You're playing a space shooter. Rather than being taken along a pre-set path in first person, or maneuvering back and forth at the bottom of the screen, you can move your craft or mecha in three dimensions. With one gyroscope you control the direction your craft is facing, and with the corresponding directional pad, you control jet boosters to shove yourself in any given direction. With the other gyroscope, you aim your weaponry, direct targets which you place on enemies for homing missiles to follow and otherwise orchestrate your offense.

You're playing a puzzler...well, do I really need to elaborate on this one? I think you get the point. The DG controller is my dream controller. If Nintendo would include something remotely similar with their Revolution system, I would be overjoyed. I would truly be like a kid again, in terms of gaming. And yes, this is more than possible with currently-existing technology.

Comments on my idea? Ideas of your own? Let's hear them.
