Not bad, looks pretty cute . A few things are a bit off, like the tree on top of the ? blocks, the N all the way at the right of the status bar is a bit cut off, and the coins in the last screens put holes in the pyramid. Otherwise not too shabby.

I just got done playing 1-3 and it's another great level. I already reported the problems with 1-1 and 1-2 to you, so here are the ones for 1-3... 1. When you enter the pipe to the cave you are coming out one space too far down. 2. In the bonus room the salactites (icicles or whatever) are one space too far down. They should be right on the ceiling. 3. There are a couple stray unnecessary pieces of land at the end of the cave, all the way at the left. This is because you extended the ground all the way at the right of the cave too far, and it goes off the screen, and this causes the ground to "leak" into the screen at the opposite side. 4. When you come in the goal room, you can re-enter the door, but it takes you to the default screen exit. Fix that. Otherwise pretty good! I got a 77 on this level . I'll say this for everyone else since you heard my feedback for the levels already, these are some very fun levels! Very creative level design, lots of nice little secrets, bonuses, etc. So far it's been a good level of difficulty for the first world. Great job, can't wait to play more. |

Originally posted by SoNotNormal Yeah, but seriously, a walkthrough really isn't necessary for this hack. I mean, for a classic hack like Super Demo World TLC, one might need a walkthrough since it's really popular and people may want a walkthrough since they will play it thoroughly, but for a hack like this I don't think it's necessary. |

Originally posted by SoNotNormal Don't worry man, I'm sure people are interested in YI hacks. It's just that this is just a 3 level demo, so people usually don't like to play short demos. Also, people do sometimes like to wait out for the full version instead of playing demos. Just look at my demo threads for SMW2+. My last demo had only 4 replies. This just proves people would prefer to wait out for a full version. My advice to you would be maybe release a 2 world demo before the final release, that way people will have enough levels to get some enjoyment out of it, and then plenty more people will play the full version. Don't worry you'll be fine I know it. |

Heh heh, I always used to draw levels on paper when I was young for fun. I remember like 11 years ago, after I played the first few levels of SMW, I started to draw my own levels on paper. I did that for a little while. None of my levels from paper acutally made it to my hacks though (obviously, it was 11 years ago ). I did used to think up levels in my head from start to finish whenever I was bored, mostly in school . This was even before I knew about any kinds of editors. I thought up levels for SMW, SMW2, SMAS, etc. Some of my SMW2 levels from my head did make it to my hack, not exactly because that was years ago, but most from what I remembered. I say mapping out levels on paper is a cool idea. Especially when you are struck with a cool level design suddenly, and you want to map it out before you forget it. That surely comes in handy . |

Ah, I see, I hardly ever download ROMs anymore. Usually I just keep a zip file for SMW and YI for whenever I need a new ROM to patch an ips to, or make a new hack .

Originally posted by MarioMaster Nope, those existed in the original. They were only in a bonus room of 4-6, though. Anyway, I am about put together a bug-fix version of the hack, to get rid of some of the nasty bugs some people found, so if anyone finds any more, let me know . |

SNN, I just took a look at 1-6 and it looks really cool! Must be a pretty exciting level jumping from platform to platform. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Just go into "Edit Header" and change the Layer 2 Image. Simple as that.

Originally posted by CharlieF Thanks for your interest. What next release are you talking about though? I don't have any more projects in progress as of now. If you're talking about my YI hack SMW2+, I released it here. Here's the link... http://www.freewebs.com/goldenyoshi/SMW2+Complete.zip I just never put the link on my homepage of my site because FreeWebs is being a bitch and keeps saying my session has been timed out due to inactivity, even when I've been on for like two minutes. Anyway, you can find SMW+ 1-4 at www.zophar.net in the "Hacks" section. (edited by Golden Yoshi on 08-29-05 10:00 AM) |

Originally posted by insectduel A lost level in YI, what are you talking about? And why did you have to say you're not working on a YI hack? It's not like anyone was asking you for one anyway . Anyway, Sonicandtails, if you'd like to make a walkthrough go ahead. Do it however way you want, although I still don't think anyone here really wants one. My guess is that people are just playing it to beat it, not so much to spend a lot of time finding all the secrets. |

I particularly don't mind the freedom to choose whatever level you want. I've played the old SMB and SMBLL levels so many times, through the actual games and Peter's remakes that it gets boring with the same predictability of the same sequence of levels. So my point being I don't mind it. Anyway, I'll play it later, once I find a Super Mario World ROM, for some reason I can't find one anywhere . |

Wow, thank you for those comments...you made my day . I hope soon some other people will beat it and have the same feelings you do toward it. Thank you for playing it!

I played a few levels so far and it is quite good. The graphics do look cool for the SMB and SMBLL environment. A few things that I particularly didn't like were the changing of colors in the final point count at the end of the level (on the "Course Clear" screen). In warp zone exits half of the counter gets cut off. I haven't tested much other levels, but all the levels I've had so far have these problems with the final point tally. I also didn't like that you used the SMW Bowser statue, it would've been cool if you could've ripped the Bowser from SMB3. Also, your sprite allocation still isn't ideal. When I played D-4 the falling platform in the flying fish section vanished. I do appreciate that you did take my ideas into consideration by putting them into the hack, such as shortening platforms by using the flying rock platform, and the blocks at the top of the screen after jumping on spring boards. Anyway, this was a cool remake. Honestly, all these SMB and SMBLL levels are getting a bit old and I'm tired of playing the same old levels over and over again, but I am looking forward to your future remakes, especially YI. That will be a tough one to do, though. Just a suggestion, I think maybe your next project should be one with original levels, like SMB 1.5. People have already seen your skills at remaking so I think we'd all like to see your level designing skills. (edited by Golden Yoshi on 08-29-05 11:15 PM) |
