Got it, it works now!

*EDIT* No, not the .zip, the .IPS is what I got to work.

Notice what you typed.

"home.comcast.net/~everythingdotcom/umw/umw.IPS"

The "umw" in "UMW.IPS" needs to be capitalized, as it is in the link. I tested the link in my first post twice and both times it worked perfectly after patching it with LIPS. No corrupted checksum, no messed up ExGFX, no blank screens, perfect both times.

Well, as it turns out, IT DOES. The link on my first post works, the one that Kario (was it him?) typed doesn't.

This thread has gotten sort of off topic...it's just needing to fix my hack (did that), and advice on how to fix stuff. None of you are actually posting how far you are, what you thought of it, what I should improve, what you would rate it....AND, please tell me if you found the Special World. It's hidden deep within the game, and is much harder to find (You can't get to it just by getting secret exits in star roads anymore). How about one hint?
You will have to solve the secret of a game that wouldn't be relased for 12 more years.
Confusing, eh? But once you figure it out, it's a snap, and you'll understand entirely what I mean. So....the search is on!!

Okay, here's what I have to say: As anyone else would say, the title screen is very creative. The ExGFX are perfectly fine, as anyone with eyes can see. The overworld is perfect. The levels are creativly designed and no sprites are glitched up. Either your emulator can't support files bigger than 0.0001 KB, or you're completely blind. The backwards question mark block isn't ExGFX and was already acting like a slope, in case you've never seen Lunar Magic's "Add Objects" window. In the message block, I kindly suggested the control style, not ordered it. Sure, it's normal for some people to not like hacks, but you have proven that you know absolutely NOTHING about SMW Hacking. You know what's a miracle? That you only have 233 posts of criticizing people's hacks instead of 5,000,000.

In other words, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Me too...I guess we both sort of overreacted. But everyone, consider this:

Most hacks SEEM bad at the start. This is because when a person first starts a hack, he/she barely knows anything about making a hack of that game, as was my case, and designs the levels crazily just for the fun of creating new levels. Over time, the person discovers more about hacking, and the hack gets better as it progresses. That's why many hacks seem to start out bad but then get better (A good example is Mario World Super). My hack started out with no custom map16, no ExGFX, no redisigned overworld, no custom blocks. But as it progressed, it gained these things and got better. So no one can just play until the 2nd world and then declare a hack "bad". I'm sure even the most sceptical player would enjoy my hack (or any other for that matter) once they got to about world 4. From there, it gets better, including the awesome "Vile Volcano" levels, an ancient ruin which you must discover the secret of the prehistoric hill, and a lake that while somewhat unimpressive and only having 4 levels, is the gateway to the last world, World 8 (Yes, that's 8, not 7, and it's only the last world if you don't count the two bonus ones). Just look at my background, which is composed of screens from my hack.

So, let's play some more, and then everyone can tell me what they think.

It's like Chocolate Island 3 in the original-you have to find the secret exit.

The secret exit is really not that hard to find. There's a platform below the platform that the goal is on, so you drop down where the goal is. Here you'll find the key, then hitch a ride on the brown platform and you're home free.

The level is Sky World 5, the one with the cloud ExGFX and some things from SMB3. That's the only place you could get stuck on, anyway.

The screens are awsome. It's nice you mixed two climate belts into one world ("Tropical Desert") and the rest of the screens look fabulous! Can't wait for the next release.

The only reason the ExGFX are glitched up is because...

YOU DOWNLOADED IT BEFORE I FIXED IT!!!!

Sometime yesterday I fixed it with LIPS, you should patch it with that too. Before that, the ExGFX were messed up. I tested the new one TWICE, and the ExGFX are perfectly fine. So anyone with ExGFX problems, download the IPS again and patch it with LIPS, as Zerodius said. The candyland is too bright? Candyland 1 and 2 are the only ones that have that, and 2 has a very dark background...so it sort of contrasts. I'm the sort that likes contrasting.

*EDIT* When I was typing this post, Jesper posted about this.

Dino Sea Swamps....The cave part is the only one that is actually hard. The last falling yellow platform DOES NOT go into the lava. You can stand on it. Go to the left edge, get a running start, make sure Mario's holding his hands out, and jump to the pipe. It's possible, but I'm making it easier for the next release. It won't come out for a while, so I'm not making any promises.

First of all, I have the "better" version, I guess, but there are still a lot of ExGFX issues. Seriously, SMWExpert needed a beta test or something to get this all straight before he released the hack. It's probably easily fixable, but it's just sloppy.

The level design. Hm. It's not terrible, but it seems so.. illogical. It seems like SMWExpert just kinda designed levels kinda like, "Okay... let's have one of those moving rope things... and then... how about a fence? Yea, a fence. And then there should be a billion koopas in the next part." It just seems so random and incohesive. The balance is good and stuff, but the design is disenchanting.

Overworld is pretty bland, yea. But I don't have as high of standards for overworld as some people here do. Oh well.

I'll finish this hack later.

Yeah, I didn't test this hack much. My mistake-although the next release won't have THAT many changes, just a few small changes to make it better.

How do I get to it? Is it accesed via one of Sky World 3's Exits?

Well?

No, you need to beat the Sky Fortress.

I wasn't too lazy, I just wanted that level put SOMEWHERE in my hack...

Weird, everyone else is talking about getting to Lemmy's Castle, and getting to world 4, and they're saying it's good. I don't know why you can't go along the path. I didn't lock it, so anyone can look at it and see any mistakes.

Ultimate Challenge doesn't lead to anything. Yes, that's intentional....it's just like a Just-For-Fun level. There's an unrevealed path on it, yes (And by the way, why do you say the overworld is glitched? It wasn't for me), but that's actually a shortcut from World 6 that you'll find later in the game. That's why I put it there. There's a pipe in World 6, and it leads to that area, when those tiles get revealed. So that was intentional-why would I want you skipping to World 6?

*EDIT* Sorry Luigisan, it's actually Sky World 4, not 5.

*EDIT2* I had already used the level Morton's Plains was already on for a different level ("Candy Secret") so I couldn't have put it where it already was.

Did any of you read that post I made? I had already used the area Morton's Plains was on for another level. If that level hadn't existed I wouldn't have put any level there in the first place! I wasn't planning for Candyland 2 to have 2 exits.

I like the Mario All-Stars ones better. But the advanced ones are even better.
You're probably going to yell at me and say, "EVERY 1 LIKES THE ALL-STARS VERSIONS BETTER Y DID YOU POST THIS POLL!!!!!1111" but believe me, I've seen some websites that say that the webmasters think the originals are better. So, vote away!

The advanced ones are just sorta there, there isn't advance Mario 1 or Lost Levels yet, but I would still prefer the advance ones....

One of the reasons I like the SNES ones because they have better music than the advanced or original. Although I seem to like Super Mario Advance 4's musics better than Super Mario All-Stars's SMB3 mode's....
