you would need a program to record both audio and video at the same time. Virtualdub may be able to do it. You just need to make sure the audio output of your camera enters the microphone port of your sound card. What i think is easier is if you used the camera's digital video port to do your computer capturing. the digital video port takes care of both video and audio for you. Usually, the requirement is having a firewire cable and a firewire card. |

if you are using winxp, then go to control panel-->administrative tools-->computer management in the left directory pane, find "disk management" (above services and application) and click on it, you should get a list of drives on your computer right click on one CD-ROM and click on "Change Drive Letter and Paths" click on the drive you see and click on "change" button in "Change Drive Letter or Path", select "assign the following dirve letter", and change the letter to something else. You should be able to do a swap that way. |

a standard IEEE-1394/firewire cable that has one end that fits into the camera and the other end into the computer's firewire port. my camera needs a firewire cable with a 4-pin end and a 6-pin end. windows software should then recognize a new DV device. virtualdub, as far as I know, does not have DV support. So you need to find alternative software to do your capturing...like Windows Movie Maker *shudders* |

Originally posted by Taraleemulation is just as slow. Windows 98 runs fine in an emulated windows environment, try that with WindowsXP or Windows2k3 and non-dual processor system is going slow to a crawl. PearPC emulates MacOS at a rate of 1/500MHz. So a 500MHz system running PearPC will have the emulated computer running at 1MHz... RAM usually helps but dual processing makes the better difference. As for GUIs, Mac is more inituitive, I'll give it credit for that...but it still takes a lot of resources to run the GUI. |

I never like those feed CD trays...scared that the disc will get stuck in the machine XD I prefer top loading versus tray since you have less moving parts. I've nevered used my PS2 vertically for various reasons.... |

the thread should be titled, "let's convince nintendo to continue the startropic franchise" but anyways, like it has been said before, internet petitions doesn't mean anything. I loved startropics. I beat 2 before I beat 1 (). The game concept was good and the gameplay was quite cool. Startropics plays just like zelda 1 but without the overworld. If I'm not mistaken, Startropics 2 was the last game produced on the NES, yeah? |

So yeah... I like Win2k3, I've found it a hell of a lot more stable than XP...then again, I haven't run the same programs on both to see. So, the question is...will it be worth it to install Win2k3 over WinXP? Or is Win2k the better choice? Issues of compatibility and stability don't apply because I've never run into such problem with any Microsoft OS. |

i found 2k3 to be more stable than XP, but XP for me has always been stable for me as well doesn't hurt to have more stability. SP2 has never given me problems either but since one of my computers has had quite a bit of continuous uptime, I feel 2k3 would be better suited for it...my work computer at work ran non-stop all summer and that was nice. I've run winXP for 20 days straight one time but couldn't continue it. |
at work, my computer was used as both a database and a web server; so would win2k3 be good to behave as a server vs. WinXP? The computer in question currently runs WinXP. (edited by neotransotaku on 09-23-05 12:54 AM)

are you using a crossover cable to connect the WIn98 and WinXP computers together? |

Originally posted by HyperHacker there is a schematic for crossover cables and normal CAT-5 cables. try using that...thing which you can measure voltage, resistance, etc (i'm blanking on the name ) to see if the right pins on one side land on the correct side for the other.

Originally posted by HyperHacker it could be the case that you don\'t have a crossover cable...unless you test for how the wires line up, you won\'t really know for sure. You even doubt whether you have one or not... Something else that is required for win98 to connect to a network is you must \"logon\" to the network. If win98 starts up without asking you for a password (even if it is blank), it will not connect to the network. You must click on Okay, not cancel. Have you installed TCP-IP Protocol support?

My network settings although, it is virtualized, I have the same settings for another computer with win98 dual boot... if you have similarities, then I\'m certain it is the cable. |
