That is a normal summer here....freaking hot...hit 100 last weekend, and that was just the air temp, not counting the actual heat index.

Since 50C ~ 120F, I'd say we're around mabye 40C or so. Mabye 35-45, but rediculously hot nonetheless. And go find a F-C converter, jeez |

F = 9/5C + 32 So if I remember my basic algebra right, C = (F-32) * 5/9 ...The sad thing is I had to plug in example numbers to work that out. |

Celsius make more sense for me than Fahrenheit, basing tempratures of Water. Water freezes at 0 C and it boils at 100 C. I hope it get's warmer soon... I'm not sure what Fahrenheit is based of. |

Well, this summer hasn't been anything special. I'd say it's like normal, maybe. It was pretty warm and sunny yesterday, today it's raining. That's how it goes usually. Rain, sun, rain, sun.. etc. Not long periods of sun, sun and sun, then heavy rain like last summer. Actually, last summer Central Europe suffered 20 000 deaths due to a heatwave, if I'm not all mistaken. Oh, and here's a nifty converter in case you'd need it. No, Kelvin is based on Absolute Zero. Farenheit is one of those arbitrary American scales that makes no sense, much like feet and miles.

No, feet and miles are easy to calculate...even in your own head... One foot is approximately 30cm, (at least what I know). One mile is 1.6 kilometres/kilometers... |

In 1986, U.S. required all weights and measures on labels to show both English and metric. So, we have some progress, but not alot... |

Right, but what I'm saying is the system itself makes no sense. Other than foot being based on the approximate length of a person foot, there's no rationality to the conversions between feet and, say, yards, or yards and miles (As opposed to the metric system where everything is based on 10). The measurement "length" is another somewhat arbitrary one, although that's mainly horse racing jargon (And makes some sort of sense; it's the approximate length of a horse, which is a lot easier to tell than feet or inches when track announcers are watching horses go by at high speed). |

So the US is gradually going into the metric system hmm... Hopefully the weather get's better here, and the temprature will hopefully be above 20 C soon. If it rains for another day... |

Well, in terms of science, metrics are used...I mean we already have that stamped out as an international system with the SI units. Yea, that would be a pain in the ass if all the scientists didn't abide by a standard for collecting data...so I really don't know why everyone in the world still goes by their own set standard but...you know...it's something they've learned, just like it's something we've learned. I guess it'd be comparable to different languages. Not everyone knows English...and not everyone knows Spanish...French...Swedish...Japanese...whatever. In other words, I doubt you see it change, if ever. |

Nice job! How do those things work? You have Light, Standard, Heavy divisions or what? |

This one was only Standard and Heavy, but most include a light and some include a "light heavy".

Well, at least the only time I had to convert things is when I talk to people who live in US. I'm glad that the scientists uses Metrics. Heck, is the foot based by anything? That can be exact? About languages, bigger languages eats smaller languages. Languages dies, it happens. But mostly small languages. Someone said that finnish would die one day for example. That's stretching it, still understandable... Can anyone change the title again? It would be nice with a title change now and then. |
