Oh, so you released it... And that beta-tester Schwa referred to is me, and I have to say: this is one of the best hacks I've ever played. Not only because it's finished, but also because it's so unique and impressive as it is. Oh, and the readme file is to be read; this hack actually has a story. Schwa, you'll get a PM once I'm finished with the last worlds. |

At least, the title screen looks good. But I still don't know why you absolutely have to make a colour themed hack. You could always have one colour in each world. | |||

I completely agree. The systems we use here make much more sense, especially when it comes to heights and temperatures (and no, I'm not only saying that because I'm Norwegian, but because it's true. ). I didn't even know ||bass actually was American. I've been (registered) here too short, I guess. (edited by DurfarC on 05-31-05 05:37 AM) |

Edit: This post was supposed to be above DDs post, I just forgot to refresh before posting. I am actually finished, but I lost what I had written about world 8. I didn't find any glitches though, everything looked pretty nice. About my time: Yes, I tend to be busy at this time of the year. Unlike most other people around here, I work at school and get good grades. However, I've been home from school due to illness these days, so I've been at the computer most of the time. I started working on my own hack again, not only because I have much time now, but also because I got inspired to work on it again after playing this hack. When it comes to how good I am, I died quite a few times in world 8. Then again, I've owned the game for almost 15 years, so my skills and timing should be good enough. Another reason why I didn't visit the mushroom houses in world 6 is that the card game appears quite often. Also, I was so exited that I couldn't waste my time on them. I scrapped my old smb3 hack and started on a new one instead, since I thought the old one was bad and looked too much like the original game. Since people wanted to play my old hack so badly and I never got to release it, I decided to release an early demo of this one instead. Currently, only world 1 is done, but all levels have been redone from scratch. The overworld has also been changed, and if you manage to finish the demo, you will also get a chance to have a look at the world 2 map (although the last screenshot down there shows is. ). There should be no (big) similarities in this hack, in other words. Another reason why I release this demo, is that I need to know what people think about my level and overworld design before I continue. The more people who like it, the shorter time I will use on completing it. Both good and bad comments are welcome; although the hack may look/be good, there is always room for improvement. If you find any glitches, bugs or areas that look similar to the original ones (although I doubt you will find any), please tell me as well. The title screen will be changed when I come up with a title. If you have an idea, then tell it to me at once. Download (zip file) If the file cannot be found, it is just my GeoCities account's bandwidth that has run out as usual. Try again widthin an hour or two then. Oh, I almost forgot: Here are some screenshots: (Edited out layout in this post) (edited by DurfarC on 06-01-05 04:05 AM) (edited by DurfarC on 06-01-05 04:06 AM) (edited by DurfarC on 06-01-05 04:06 AM) |

Thanks for the replies and to all those people who played it, I hope you enjoyed it. As you suggested, I changed the colour on the water and the dancing bushes to a darker shade of blue (I don't bother to update the screens just for that), and it looks better now. I also realized that the pipes in the underground level were ugly, the fact is that the brown on them is the same colour as the wall. I made the green darker instead, and they look good now. The airship though is already in two shades, you may just have missed it. Oh, and actually, you can thank this thread for the pink pallette. Oh, and just in case people didn't know: World 2 will not be a desert world in this hack. Originally posted by Kamek77And I have to thank you for saying that. I wasn't sure about the levels' difficulty, when you've created the levels yourself you know where everythings appear and how to beat them. My goal is exactly to make challenging, but possible levels. Originally posted by beneficiiI don't know anything about their bandwidth, but I know that everything I download at a Freewebs site will be downloaded at the amazing speed of 1kbps. XD. And I have ADSL, which is much faster than that. I just found out that the filesize on the zip weren't that big, so it shouldn't be a problem. (edited by DurfarC on 06-02-05 08:46 AM) |

You shouldn't ask about that here, you know. But I asked at another board not too long ago, and this is what he said: "there's absolutely no way i can add those fire sticks without a huge amount of ASM." So don't expect to see them too soon. I understand what you say though, they're quite important. As for thishack, it looks very good, as always. It seems like you've found a way to add most of the enemies and stuff too. Keep it up. |

Oh, I must thank this thread, I haven't eaten donuts for ages, simply because I, uh, forgot that they existed. XD I better take a walk to the local bakery at one or another time. There's also McDonalds, but the donuts they have there taste like crap... (edited by DurfarC on 06-04-05 10:28 AM) (edited by DurfarC on 06-04-05 10:38 AM) |

I recently created this new layout. I didn't use css or style tags at all, and after some work I thought everything was finally working. But it seems like I was wrong, because when I edit a post, the text that's supposed to appear at the bottom of the page (edited by DurfarC at...) doesn't show up. It might be because everything you see in this post, including the tables, are created into a big, black table (the background) that I've set to width=100% and height=100%. It seems like the height=100% overwrites the "edited by"-text. Is there anyway I can fix this without erasing the black table (aka the black background, which also keeps the layout organized)? Or is there another way to choose the background color? Edit: Nevermind. I think I got it fixed. It would take too much bandwidth if it was available to all members. You can still search on the board using google, just type in what you want to search for and then add "site:board.acmlm.org" (without the "s) at the end. Welcome to the board. |

Yeah. If you haven't seen it, take a look here and play it right now. Or else... Although it's only a demo, it's awesome (and after looking at this thread, it seems that it'll get even more awesome next time). That's it. (edited by DurfarC on 06-05-05 09:11 AM) |

Long walks? Then we have something in common, although I prefer walking around in the city rather than on the beach. Acmlm's Board is big, yes, but not scary. As long as you follow the forum rules and common sense, you shouldn't get any problems at all. Welcome! |

When you made your 25th post, you got the rank called "Double Hammer". You'll keep that rank until you reach the next one, which is "Stone Axe" after 50 (total) posts. In other words, there's nothing wrong with the rank system. The links to the images however, seem to be broken. I became a nipper plant. |
