I have a MP3 player installed in my head specifically designed to play the first one minute and twenty-seven seconds of "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" by Megadeth. Kornfan, I believe that would be Duality by Slipknot. It's an interesting song, and it's very very clear that Slipknot hates it. |

I vote for Sabbath because I can't stand the fact that Chester (From linkin park) actually gets paid to give one of the worst vocal performances ever. LP's asian kid (I don't know his name) has all the talent and creates all the cohesion in the band. They seriously need to fire Chester and get someone who can actually sing. Yes, it's your right to say Bush, but if you have no reasons, it's my right to say you haven't thought this through. I won't try to change your mind or anything, I just want to hear it. |

Using distortion to hide your shitty playing is totally not rad. Right now I'm listening to Iggy Koopa's little Zelda tune ("lahouse.mp3"). It's very easy on the ears, stays true to one key almost the whole time (I think it's a major key, maybe Ionian mode or something). It's very nice and very relaxing music (doubly so because I just got back from a concert). I usually like a little more tension in my music (Without Beethoven there would be no heavy metal), but right now this just hits the spot. |

There was this thing called World War I, and we totally kicked Germany's ass, and after the war everyone was really angry at Germany so they made them pay like a million billion dollars in fines and crap and made them rebuild all the houses and stuff, and we got rid of thier king-type guy and gave them a democracy. And then bad things started happening in Germany and everyone got really poor because they were spending so much money on rebuilding Britian that they couldn't rebuild Germany, and the new super shitty government that was more or less controlled by the allies tried to help but nobody listed to thier appeals and they didn't have enough power do to anything on thier own. And then the Germans realised that it was our fault that they were all poor and dying and crap because if we hadn't totally ruined thier country and government and forced them to pay ridiculous amounts of fines, literally fined to the point where the German Marks became worth less than the paper they were printed on, then they could have had time to try and rebuild thier own economy. And then this guy named Hitler came along, who was a manipulative bastard, and he was all like "Hey dudes, I'm pissed at the allied powers, yeah those assholes had a right to come in here and knock out our king-dude because he was trying to ruin France's shit and stuff, but those assholes too it too far. Our government is like totally fucked over dudes. Lets like rebuild and fuck the Treaty of Versai and take over some countries man, we'll show those assholes." And everyone listened to him, mainly because what he promised was so appealing to a nation in shambles that nobody stopped to think about the consequences of the plan he laid out until it was far too late. The point of the story is that you can't simply go into a nation, knock out the bad guy, give them a new government, and expect everything to be a-o-kay ten years down the road. People get pissed and they stay pissed, and we've although we don't have to worry about Saddam hating us, we've sown the seeds for a lot of new hate from Iraqis. There are much better methods to creating peace in the Middle East (mostly trying to influence the youth not to take up the fight thier father used to use - It's shown some success, teenagers in Iraq have been seen adopting bits and pieces of American culture and refusing to recite the Death to America pledge). There's also the question of "Why Iraq Now?" while it's a documented fact that Saddam hates Osama almost as much as we do, but that's irrelevant to this discussion. Damn, this turned into one LONG ramble. Try to remember this is all IMO (Except for the history lesson which is grounded in fact but modernized by me to a hopefully humorous effect) (edited by witeasprinwow on 08-16-04 10:19 AM) (edited by witeasprinwow on 08-16-04 10:20 AM) |

Megadeth - "Repcipe for Hate... Warhorse", off the album "The World Needs a Hero"... I think this was released sometime around the year 2001. |
Mustaine makes incredibly good use of a long-forgotten metal technique, which is the use of intensity in turn with anticipation. The song starts off with a fast chromatic piece, with the guitars playing inverted powerchords and the drums pounding on the snares and the double bass. This shoots the intensity of the first ten seconds up through the roof. The song then falls back into a gentle acoustic piece. I think it's minor-keyed. Anyways, the acoustic part would be very mellow on it's own, but since it follows an incredibly intense part, it takes on an eerie tone, and makes you anticipate (and, for some people, probably even fear) the intensity returning. Mustaine then slowly weaves electrics and heavier riffs into the song, slowly pushing the intensity further up until it blows back through the roof. The song ends with a slight variation on the riff it began with, once again with the snares and double bass very prominent in the mix. Mustaine gives heartfelt lyrics on what appears to be how much he hates his family. On this album his singing is surprisingly clear, especially in contrast to the way his trademark snarl slurs his words into an unintelligble mess in his earlier albums. Megadeth has a new album due out September 14th, titled "The System Has Failed". I've already seen the cover and heard some of the tracks. Mustaine seems quite angry at George Bush, who makes an appearance on the cover of the album, along with several other political figures. (I can make out Bush, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfield, and Condolezza Rice by looking at it... There's some other people I can't seem to identify. None of them seem to be Kerry, but since the art isn't finished yet, I don't know if he'll be put in later.) (restricted) | (restricted) |

You are the one who places a value on thier life? What makes you think that people should conform to your standards in order to be valuable people? |
You can think less of them for it, but to say that they're actually worth less as people becuase of thier lifestyle choices is a different story. |
