For a second I was worried I was about to read a bunch of nationalistic b.s.

I sometimes have that trouble with German...seeing something in English, and reading it in German. Other times, I trying answering something in English, and some of it comes out auf Deutsch.

The Prince staggers for a bit...reeling back...then stands up straight. A carmine aura about his right hand seems to form a solid sphere, which "snaps" into an octohedron. His left hand, however, just points.

targetting locked on Jarukoth. Lifeshaver - as per FFVI. Siphons out much HP, much more than normal Drain and Double Drain spells.

hastega in effect

"Apparently all the more you wish to become...is a corpse. You would've be able to do self-proclaimed job much better...and would've learned this, which otherwise is beyond you."

targetting locked on Jarukoth. Equal Reply - custom technique. Not instantly learnable. Deals damage in direct proportion to the last received attack. Single-target only. (Jarukoth's attack took apx. 30% of the Prince's Max HP, meaning, this one is posed to do 30% of Jarukoth's Max HP in damage to him)

Yeah, no kiddin', J.

A little bit of hypocracy there, methinks. We'll shove 'em up your ass first, Neko, for making us look across them a second time.

*cough*

This here has the grand total of two (2) original graphic that nobody before has used: the overworld swamp tiles, and the grass around Matoya's getup. Everything else has been yoinked from existing games and/or had its palettes revamped. Also note that the overworld was barely touched. How much good news I have seen about this compared to bad? The positivie comments greatly outweigh the negative.

While it's not SMW, the point still remains defeated.

Does anyone here know of a patch for RPG Maker 2000 to allow .mp3 or other decent audio formats, or how to go about writing said patch? Sound quality of a midi is not, and .wav files are just too big.

I know the good ol' Print Scrn button captures a single screen...I was wondering, does anybody out there know of any prog that can capture video from the screen? Anything would be great. Thanks.

Bingo.

The thing I'm wanting to do is put together a little video clip of the game I'm creating via RPGMaker2000, like an advertisement or teaser, or somethin'. I wouldn't necessarily need to capture *every* sound, or even any of 'em. I know what to put as BGM.

The human eye perceives 12 pictures/second...so I imagine anything over 24 fps or maybe 30 would be too much to see a difference. I could work with 15; if nothing else, that *should* keep the file size down.

And yeah, RPGM2k uses 320x240, so...that works out well. I'll post m' work...whenever that comes to be...with upcoming finals, and the uncertainty of having a computer to work with over the long winter break...it could be awhile before it's done.

Well...just accidently tried to post nothing in here. Brilliant....

Anyways!! a sestina. This poetic form is a bugger to work with (but it's not as bad as trying a villanelle). The rules that apply to the form are likely to bore people, so unless asked, I'm not gonna lay out the whole bit (and yeah, it's got more rules than a sonnet, or a villanelle).

Onto the poem....

In a world where only men get drafted, and over 99% of military deaths are male, she claims that her sex are the real victims!?

Simple explanation of what she's thinking (though I don't agree with it either): men die, their suffering is over. Women live on, watching the important men in their life die...and have to carry the grief and burden 'till the end of their days. *shrugs*

As to socialism...what's wrong with it? I'd like to hear somebody actually explain this for once, rather than just say it's bad and nothing more.

If we still have a country in 2008...it'd be nice to see a change in pace like having a woman call the shots. Possibly have Bob Dole's wife (I can't remember her first name...is it Patricia?) run against her on the Republican platform...just to shake things up.

Somethin' I remember from a few years ago...Jesse Ventura on the Tonight Show. Looked Jay right in the face and talked about his post-wrestling career: lived in a town in Minnesota for awhile, ran for Mayor, won it, served one term, got out, had a state-wide radio program for a few years, ran for Governor, won it, served one term, got out, and said he got a nation-wide program on MSNBC...leaving an implication on the end. I think we're gonna have an honest third contender...if the increasingly crummy economy keeps the USA still alive by the time 2008 rolls around.

Well...it didn't take anywhere near as long as I thought it would to put a movie like that together...there's points where the quality kinda sucks...and times when I get just a black screen...or things slow considerably for some reason...but yeah. I put it together.

5 minutes of a teaser/trailer for the game...it's by no means anywhere near completion, but this is to give ya' guys a taste of m' handiwork. The file is friggin' huge...so...those with dial-up...sorry....

View the Teaser/Trailer

Please lemme know what ya' guys think of it.

Yeah, it's RPGMaker2000. There's a few points I need to tweak along the way...but other than that, I'm hoping it turns out well.

The program package I downloaded for this is Camtasia...has a series of different things that'd be fun to work & play around with (video screen capturing, a video player, somethin' that acts like Windows Movie Maker, but has many more options as to output type, etc.)...but buying it for two-hundred bucks is...no.

Me...I'd take a lightsabre. Can't get a real one though....

Anyways!! my actual choice of weapon is this guy:

Spiffy, eh?

One fencing epee with a custom hilt, made by a blacksmith I know, steel circular plates pounded to have curvature...mahogany wood grip with copper pipe ends surrounding it for improved weight balancing and containing possible splitting, solid brass pommel for excellent balance.

What's your choice of weapon?

A few things for ya' guys to bear in mind about the environment and jobs:

To drive agriculture in the southern Great Plains, much water must be used. This has made the water table drop all over...60 ft. or deeper at the worst points. That's a five-story building. Deeper into the earth ya' go, the more salt there will be in the ground water. If this trend keeps up, water irrigating the wheatlands will become brackish. That's just a matter of a decades, if even. The recharge point for that water table lies in the Rockies...it'll be about 10,000 years before it's recharged to where it was before. This, of course, will make food prices rise dramatically.

Petrolium fields do not give up oil easily, or quickly. Oil wells & rigs, at their absolute best, yeild about 20% of the oil from a reserve (the greatest is getting, like, 30%...but that's bloody near unheard of). Extracting the rest means digging up the rock, grinding it up, and baking the oil out. We're not gonna run out of oil anytime soon...we're gonna run out of oil that's easy to get soon. Plastics will become more difficult to make, glass will return to everything (likely), necessity may yield more invention and better oil extraction tactics...that failing, we will need to find a new fuel source for automobiles, aircraft, most watercraft and anything else that uses petrolium as a base. Ethanol or vegatable oil are both often suggested as an alternative...where are we gonna get it from? I've heard corn suggested repeatedly for this...cars that run on whiskey or corn oil, etc., it's all good...until ya' get to the grocery store. Corn prices will become astronomical...this instantly affects meat prices as that corn is one of the primary grains used to feed & raise livestock. Food, again, becomes too damned expensive.

Coal presents a different problem. We're not running out of that either...we've just used up all the good coal already. I don't remember the specific names offhand...but what we've got left is the soft, smoke-producing, burns cooler type. The greater marjority of coal that remains is the softest, lowest burning type...that name also escapes me right now. There isn't anywhere near enough uranium to set up nuclear power plants all over the states and get them to power things...wind generators disrupt the normal airstream and aren't a viable option except by the ocean and on the Great Plains, tidal power is an impossibility with how much sediment would fall out of the sea water, not enough larger rivers around to use hydroelectric, too much of the earth's surface would be covered in solar panels to power this country to make that effective (until we create better solar panels), and there aren't enough places around the states to make geothermal power a worthwhile endeavour, either, and gi-normous dry cells/batteries wouldn't work 'cuz a. all our appliances are AC, not DC, and b. DC currents cannot cover the kind of distance in powerlines that AC currents can, or even close to it.

The bottom line remains here: our ancestors have made a mess of things, and didn't clean it up before they went. Now...we've got environmental issues. These haven't become a problem yet, but oh they will ever be the problem. Whether or not ya' think jobs are more important, or the environment is more important...the hand we were dealt leaves them both interacting. If we don't worry about the environment, thing will continue as they have under Shrub...and years from now, it will be beyond too late (it may be too late already) to do anything about it. The US will fall apart as North America is mostly unlivable. If we don't worry about getting jobs...which under Shrub, we're a bit pinched as it is (yeah...against any policy that'll cost an American job...come say that in southeastern Ohio sometime....)...then the economy goes under even faster than the pace we're already at, and the former US becomes a battleground for the rising warlords and the new world orders to claim dominance.

So...they're both important. Ya' gotta worry about both.
