as am aside, my current instant messaging client works well enough for me. i've tried both trillian and miranda and couldn't quite get used to them. then there is the whole thing about using only 1 client and not having a list of contacts spread over different software. so yah

Presumably, the system tray just monitors for an application that is trying to put itself in there. There's probably no API functions or anything to enumerate through the applications that put themselves in there. (Well, of course this is only a guess, because when Windows Explorer crashes, the system tray gets emptied too)

that is my understanding of it as well. I was reading up on a document (rather dated, keep in mind) that suggested just that: there is no exact way to determine if a window/form is being kept in the system tray. I suppose if you're emulation of the system tray is targeted at a specific program, your idea could still work. Otherwise, if you are not targeting a specific process, i you might be out of luck.

if you're going to be messing with the taskbar though, look into SHAppBarMessage

son, he's right you know: you better stop being selfish before you pick up the pen or mouse and think about what the other 6 billion people in this world will think about your art before you selfishly make something that you enjoy.

pandering to other's perceptions of what constitutes "good art" instead of creating something that you enjoy and can identify with (taken from yourself or another object/ideal that intrigues/repulses; forces emotion) would seem to go against the very nature of "art". You don't seem to know much about this subject, Hiryuu.

And you never know, maybe these pictures are in themselves the true art by defying convential styles and challenging more complex creations (although not bloody likely, no offense)

Well, shouldn't you be? This is an art forum (unless i have untreated cataracts, in which case i apologize). Your above post constitutes as spam logically following your own definition of it. Why are you spamming? Why do you h8?

Show me the exact sentance/phrase/comment in which Thougdor stated "up front" that those who did not appreciate his art had no taste, that then warrented said "reaction".

By mocking Hiryuu for critisizing, you are eliminates the whole purpose of this forum; feedback from artwork. He does not have to listen to what others want to see, nor does he have to ask for their response.

C)
i was illustrating how absurd Hiryuu's comment is by putting it in more simplistic terms. I wasn't attacking him for critisizing, merely commenting on his perception of art. I didn't realize we weren't allowed to talk about art in an art forum, how silly of me. and furthermore, why are you critisizing my critisizing?

I know you're well aware of this already, and your history of posting in this forum strongly suggests that the only purpose of your post is to target Hiryuu specifically and be an asshole..

D)
"posting history" <== haha, okay okay, I suppose i'll leave this one alone as comedy is a very complex artform. But really, you do have a special artistic talent, being able to make me laugh like that. And not only are you hilarious, but you're dead wrong: the object of my post was to point out the apparent absurdity of Hiryuu's comment.

And i'd really apprecaite it if you didn't call me an asshole, and if you could kindly
refrain from calling me an asshole in the future. it's just like, you know, common curtesy. Do they have curtesy is Brazil?

I point out that art should stem from something more emotional than a statisical mean of the world's citizen's idea of beauty and all of the sudden i'm a maniacle renegade poster attacking defenseless old housewives with bats? haha, okay whateve.

I discuss the merits of art, and cymoro posts this:

but I would like to point out that complaining about Hiryuu's reaction is not art. You're not critisizing, you're bitching. You follow Hiryuu and bitch. That's the point.

i never stated that my analysis of Hiryuu's statement was art and i have no idea where that came from. Okay, if i'm bitching then you're just plain and simple a bitch. That's the point. And please (unless you don't have the time because i'm sure you're a very busy person) do a tally and check the percentage of my posts addressing/conscerning Hiryuu to my total posts and tell me what that shows you, yet i "follow him around". sure, whatever.

I'm also not from Brazil, but pointing that out regardless pretty much proves your intentions in this thread.

oh really? I was hoping, for your sake, that you were. I was hoping that it was a cultural not intellectual barrier that was keeping us from being friends, but i guess not. Prove my intentions in the thread? Sweatheart you're giving me too much credit, all i did was basically say "Hiryuu, i disagree with what you said" in a way that you seem not to like for whatever reason. Furthermore, i still have no idea why i'm even talking to you. I never addressed you, yet you continue to speak to me as if i care.. interesting..

And in closing, i've already asked you previously when you have jumped down my throat and wasted posts by going offtopic to address any issues you have with me in a PM. Not that i know him, but Thauglor (or any other board member for that matter) doesn't deserve to have his threads desecrated with your presence.

i'm simply going to filter out any information that isn't an exact match of the countries on the map

also country coloring will be based on board population percentage: i.e. the country with the greatest amount of people will be the most saturated color.

EDIT: if it happens not to look quite right at the time you are looking at the picture, it's because i'm in the middle of working on the script still. i'm making some good progress, the most time consuming part is just entering the coords. for each country. Right now i can feed the script 1 of any 50 or so entered countries and it will paint/highlight that country on the map accordingly.

right now i'm just automatically filling it in myself, if you are refering to the country regions.

if you are refering to which actual countries are being filled in, i'm just doing that by hand as well, feeding my script a few country names.

as soon as Panicus.org comes back online and i have an SQL database to mess with, i'm going to install an acmlmboard and make it run off of the user location info.

most sophisticated search engines are able to check the Keyword Density and prevent pages that oversaturate from being returned high on the list. From what i recall, i think somewhere between 3-7% is a nice range for search engines to pick up on.

instead of garsping aimlessly for words that will surely fail to summarize the fucking amazing-ness of this release, i will only say "good. fucking. job.". seriously, i've been waiting for this since i learned what romhacking was. You have done a superb job Evil Peer

two things that i can think of right now that i thnk would help, and would not be hard to impliment (and i apologize if they are already features, but i didn't notice them in the help file)

1) something to show which tile is currently selected on the Tile panel. It's rather difficult and sometimes annoying when clicking on the map to realize that you selected the wrong tile. and on that note, perhaps a grid? i realize that displaying a grid may only be more rendering and uneccesary slowdown, but i wouldn't mind it.

2) continuos painting with Mouse Down. On editing smaller maps it's not really that difficult, but when editing the World map and painting in something like a large section of trees or land, it can be extremely frustrating clicking 30+ times for the same tile.

anyway, fucking amazing job. sorry if my post didn't make much sense. alcohol does funny things to your typing ability.

I like the palette BMF came up with (or at least I think it was BMF) that was in that Art of Rom Hacking doc Vagla wrote a while back (or at least I think it was Vagla).

Vagla used Fx3's palette. In my personal opinion BMF's is actually just a tad too dark

A long while back FP gave me the source (two versions, if i recall correctly) to Sniper Hex along with a few other projects. One of them a really useful nametable editor.

Anyway, i'll check with him and see if he minds me sharing the source. He's not really done romhacking, but he's certainly done with the name 'FrenziedPanda' for the most part

Also, other than that i know there were about 3-4 total VB hex editors, and 2 of them were open source. One of them was Thingy32, and i can't remember the other. If it comes to me i'll try to help, other wise i just might be able to create something from scratch for you if i get the time
