| Janus: "Oh, hell no you won't! You'll pay for that!" Dammit, it was Trump Card time. Janus dropped to one knee and his eyes continued glowing blue... "Face the maelstrom, know what comes. Three parts, beginning, middle, and end. The strength that lies within and without will pull you through. Know this... And Prevail!" Janus rose a few inches in the air, levitating off the ground as he spread his arms to each side... "Trinity!!!" Aboard the airship, Garro and Kalar suddenly looked back at the destroyed megalopolis, and watched a stream of white light climb into the stratosphere. It rose through the storm clouds, which split into a perfect circle as the light surged upward. The dark sky was pierced equally by the pillar of hope, and for a moment, not all seemed lost. They seemed entranced in the spectacle, and locked their gazes upon the sight for just so slight a moment... And immediately looked away. Without realizing it, they had done their part. Janus stepped out of the column unchanged. His clothes were still dirty from the dusty explosion, his hair was still messed up, bruises still lined his arm where Star had gripped it. But he was not afraid. His strength, his courage surged through him as he looked Star straight in the face and clenched his fist, a steely look in his eyes. He knew what he had to do, and he raised his fist in the air as energy formed around it. He swung his fist downward.... A series of portals ripped open around Star, sucking at him from various directions and intending on keeping him in place as they moved ever closer to him. The closer they got, the harder the gravitational force of the mini-voids became, until eventually he was surrounded by them near-entirely. The portals closed ever closer together, and suddenly all of them touched at the same time, melding into a halo of void energy that began to spin rapidly around Star and slowly rise into the sky, applying a downward force upon him that would hold a jet plane in place as it attempted to taxi down a runway before takeoff... A tiny light flashed in the sky, and dust blew outward from the void halo as the white stream that had rushed upward and around Janus earlier took the form of a huge, dense ball of energy that flew like a meteor through the atmosphere and toward Star. By now the void halo had foregone any downward angle and became a true halo, a gigantic portal with a donut hole in it that got ever smaller and smaller... When it closed, a huge portal hung above Star's head, ready to catch the ball of light. Before it did, however, it slammed down at Star, forcing him into the small pocket dimension that Janus used to transport himself through space and time. The portal stayed open, and Star was sent to that dimension for several seconds as the giant ball of light in the sky flew downward and into the other side of the portal... The portal closed, and the white ball exploded inside the pocket dimension into a burning field of light, filling the space with colorless blazes. Janus raised his hand up, and another portal opened in the sky, dropping Star out of the energized dimension and back into this world... Janus: "Egression!!! Janus dropped to his knees, panting... That one took a lot out of him. He shook his head and tried despreately to regain his senses as his eyes strayed toward where the portal had deposited Star. Something, ANYTHING had to have happened there... |

I still maintain that Soloing missions beats the hell out of tag teaming. Makes the game a LOT harder. And man, that one mission where you're up against Jess and Javier at the same time.. Jeez, I didn't even realize the easy way out until the last second. One of TWO missions I've A'ed so far. Rest are S. |

Offense increased by 1! HP increased by 3! Mmm, Sweet! Magic Defense increased by 3! Grey realized the power of PSI Disco Ninja Rockin' 0! Grey: "Kage Funky Bunshin No Disco Jutsu! [Funky Shadow Replication Disco Technique]" As he struck an almighty late 70's dance pose, Grey split into six equally disco-tized clones of himself and proceeded to line dance in perfect unison with himself, moving ever closer to Square 4 and the Magic Cannon that resided there. His clones disappeared in a puff of smoke, and Grey unhooked the medallion from around his neck and hurled it like a throwing star at the wayward cannon, hoping the sheer weight of the gold accessory would serve as a useful Attack on the foe.

Janus: "Batter up!" He holds his hammer like a baseball bat, and as the Royal Ball comes toward him, rears back, preparing to swing. However, just as the ball reaches him, he suddenly disappears in a burst of surprise speed, reappearing right next to Yiusi and swinging at her, instead. He pointed up... Far, far, far upward to the hole in the ceiling that didn't seem very easily accessible... "... Or fight! And frankly, I'm not one for hasty retreats!" In a display of absolutely blind and reckless courage, the stranger fired his leg like a piston, taking off into the air over the stream of fire and towards the dragon. He retracted both arm and leg and prepared to fire them both at the dragon, in some kind of strange rocket-punch-kick-like offensive maneuver. It took a good bit more than a few second's exposure to molten lava to melt solid steel. The intention of the maneuver was to hit the dragon and hopefully spring off of it and back to safety with the rest of the group. The priest, in the meantime, ran to a safer location and pulled out a small, black bible...

He was teleported along with Nijote and took a knee on the deck of the ship as Garro and Kalar rushed to his side. Time energy Janus was used to. Light energy, no. He panted heavily, wondering just what the hell happened... Garro: "Janus! We saw the light, was that---" Janus: "Yeah. Trinity. It's good that you guys did see it, or I'd never have been able to pull something like that off." Kalar: "But Nijote, she's not looking too good right now, come look at her!" The three of them made their way to the sick bay, and Garro went alongside Lunari and Rhiea, observing Nijote's condition... Garro: "Nijote was right. I've seen this before, it's time sickness, the exposure to the sheer amount of Time energy that Star emitted on that last strike messed up the relative flow of blood throughout her body. Anyone not used to an excessive amount of time travel would suffer the same fate. I believe the relative cure is to slow time down around the infected victim's entire body successively until the entire body is eventually frozen for an instant. Time can then be kick-started, equalizing the flow throughout the victim's body." He looked at Rhiea's hammer. Was that instrument able to do all of that in that blinding flash? Impressive, he thought... But Kalar had other things on his mind. Kalar: "Ok, so now that Nijote and Janus are back aboard, it's fairly safe to assume Star's been stopped for the time being, right? So where do we go from here? We've got to find the other Star, right?" (restricted) |
