Kitten Yiffer: ...I don't lie in my profile. The birthday's there.

SomerZ: Oh yeah, real classy.

Anya: Better, yes. Nuttier... um... I dunno if I can handle that.

Erm... *overlooks all the Colleen-bashing*

Kitten Yiffer: Bah. I soloed as an Acolyte today in Niflheim. Died countless times, but EXP wise it was worth it. Satisfying.

I'll go for an Australia comeback win.

Only reason being I know many more people from down under than New Zealand or South Africa.

Besides, all it means is you can't download as much. Pages on average load a fraction of a second quicker on broadband, so what's the big deal with dialup, anyway?

...You can download a lot more.

And upload too. Can't forget uploading these days.

Well you don't have to come out and say that someone's spelling hurts.

But yeah. Good spelling/grammar helps, especially since if people can't understand you... well...

Welcome.

I thought it was from the board to idling most of the time in IRC.

Welcome.

Depends on the person and how long they go to school.

But the real world isn't that scary if you manage your time right.

Best case of that happening is when I try to use a French keyboard.

The differences aren't that major but there's shortcuts for accented letters and such... and on some of them there's an extra key along the lines of Ctrl/Alt.

I couldn't tell you, but I would have tested it out with a memory card first.

If it did wipe the data, then... yeah. Defective for sure. But if it didn't, then it's more a minor glitch than anything.

Hm... medal thoughts...

We have very few teams in the Olympics this time around. For one, none of our soccer or basketball teams managed to qualify. I doubt our softball or baseball teams will do that well, although the girls could surprise. Women's water polo is our best shot at a team medal.

As for individuals...

Alexandre Despatie (Diving) - The best medal "lock" we have. 18-year old Despatie competed at Sydney and finished 4th in the 10m. Should win one medal, possibly two - and they could be golden.

Perdita Felicien (100m Hurdles) - Track and field can be fickle at times, but if Felicien has a clean run it'll be between her and America's Gail Devers for the gold.

Nicolas Gill (100kg Judo) - Our Olympic flag bearer, and with good reason - he struck bronze in 1992 and silver in Sydney. At 32 and coming off a torn ACL, can he complete the trifecta and obtain his gold?

Christine Nordhagen (72kg Freestyle Wrestling) - Here's a name you don't see that often, but Nordhagen has blazed out of the gates in 2004 and is being tipped for a medal - but it will likely be silver. Reason? If she makes it to the finals, her opponent would likely be multi-time world champion and one of the best women's wrestlers ever, Kyoko Hamaguchi of Japan. Actually, many of our women's wrestlers are considered podium candidates, which speaks volumes of our progress in that area.

Alison Sydor (Cross-Country Mountain Bike Cycling) - She's always in contention at the Olympics for a podium position, and her recent form only adds fuel to that argument.

And of course, add in our usual canoe/kayak medals. Hopefully more than our 18 from Sydney.

I'm looking forward to the coverage itself, of course. Aside from news breaks, CBC carries coverage throughout the day - from 7 AM to 1 AM, and overnight on the weekends. And THEN you have TSN, who is also contributing 14-15 hours of coverage a day - mainly of stuff CBC doesn't cover. (soccer, boxing, volleyball, baseball, etc.) Then you *ADD* onto that the French coverage from SRC and RDS, *AND* the NBC coverage... Oh man.

It's quite simple.

The only tricky part is setting up the directories, but that's easy to do with a GUI version. MAME32 and its varients are good choices.

Then it's simply a matter of slotting roms into your rom directory, refresh the game list and play.

...Threw out a magazine?

Anyways, like I said, I'm sure a top of the line PC can run it at full everything, even if there's a bit of stuttering or a framerate drop.

If you can run Doom 3, you can run EQ2. Enough said.

Sympatico used to have upload/download caps of 5 GB each way.

Needless to say, they had to axe that less than a year after it was instituted.

(Then again, since they just partnered with MSN... *cries*)

Basically it has a bunch of pirated games on it. Yes. There's a thread about these down below.

Unless that's one HUGE slot, I doubt it can play NES games. Lots of these devices have ports/slots that seem to have no meaning.

I've heard great things about it so far. The GameCube has been starved for RPG's (although nowhere near as badly as the N64) and all the reviews I've seen are pegging this one as a real winner.

I might get it if the price goes down... I think it's at $80 Canadian with tax which is a wee much. Free lithograph or not.
