Could be a dying / close to dead hard drive.

With my last hard drive I had gradual problems of booting up that eventually got worse and worse, until it wouldn't start at all.

I'm not that great, Skiffles beats me a lot when we play.

But yeah, I won, good game Dylan.

For a list of the items / rooeys and what they do it's good to go to http://www.math.wisc.edu/~lo/bomberman/manual-frame.html.

Ah, I didn't notice Colleen was there last night, sorry.

And yeah, it's gone on long enough that I don't really care if I advance to the next round or not.

I came into this thread thinking 'Super Horsepower Europe' was another mental flash movie of yours.. Maybe an idea for some day..

But yeah, translation is fun. Try translating something from English to Japanese, and then back again (Japanese to English). Here's an example from the fifth Harry Potter book:

Original:

Dumbledore heaved a great sigh and continued, "Alastor Moody, Nymphadora
Tonks, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Remus Lupin were at Headquarters when he
made contact. All agreed to go to your aid at once."

Engrish-ified:

When Dumbledore raises large sigh, ", Nymphadora Tonks ill humor, Alastor Kingsley Shacklebolt continues, he contacts, Lupin of Remus was in the headquarters. Everything agreed to going to your help directly. "

There is a Super Mario Bros. 2 (ie. Lost Levels) conversion for nes, but you can only play to 8-4 since the game freezes up after you beat it.

No way to get world 9 -D either (unless you hack, which I haven't tried).

A little while back I decided to get the Nintendo Super System rom (you won't find a link to it here) to see if there were any differences between it and the normal game. Sure enough, there are:

- Unlike the normal game, the game is completely linear, and much shorter. Many rooms are taken out, and some of those that are left are much different.

- You start with three hearts, but soon end up with five due to the areas the game forces you into.

- Each room now has a timer. If you run out of time, you die. You get one extra game second of time added for each dollar sign you pick up.

- Some rooms are named wrong. 'The Graveyard' is named 'The Big Pit' in this version for some reason. There are a few other wrong names as well.

- No Password system. Also, no 'Your Rescue Attempt Has Failed' room, or the hidden four 1-up room that would normally be there with it.

Here's a few screenshots of the first area you play:

This is the first part of the game. After going through The Conservatory, then Poison Ivy, you end up at The Old Tree. As you can see, the mouth of the tree is closed, where it's normally open in the original game.

I've played through this whole game, and while it's not as good as the full game (it was meant to be kind of a demo version to eat quarters, after all), it's still nice to go through and see the changes from the original game.

I wonder if Rydain has ever played this.

Bible Adventures for NES / Genesis was also very messed up.

Especially that part where you can drown baby Moses in the river, then finish the level. It then says something like 'Oops, you forgot Baby Moses!'.

I've tried the Gameboy Addams Family game, it's very different from both the NES and SNES games.

As for the Genesis Addams Family Values, haven't tried it. Maybe I should get it..

The NSS Addams Family has some dip switch settings that you can set in ZSNES. I don't know exactly what all the settings are, but by messing around I was able to start with less lives and/or two hearts.

Other games I really want to try are the NSS Super Mario World and F-Zero.

There's MAME roms of them, but MAME doesn't emulate them at all when I tried, and I can't find any (NSS) SNES roms of these two games anywhere.

I've tried the Genesis port of The Addams Family as well, and while it really isn't much different than the SNES, the bird boss in The Old Tree does attack differently. It drops an egg underneath it each time it swoops, where it doesn't in the SNES version.

Haven't played too far in this port yet, but maybe I should to see what else may be different (besides the cut down graphics and music, of course).

Terranigma's ending is one of the best (and saddest) endings I've ever seen for any game.

The ending of StarTropics 1 (NES) was also very good for its time.

If by 'China' you mean that Middle East village you wake up in at the start of Chapter 3 (Lhasa), then I'd say you're about halfway through the game.

Still quite a lot to go.. I'm playing through the game again because I missed a lot of the town expansion stuff..

I know which one you mean, I saw a few screenshots of it (years ago now), and it seemed to be coming along pretty well.

Whatever happened to it, I don't know..

A few months ago, I messed around with this a bit, but didn't get very far.

http://www.helmetedrodent.kickassgamers.com/Proto_K/smaslostlevels.ips

Apply this to a SMAS rom. This changes the first few levels into some of the 'Lost Levels'. I never found many of the offsets, so there's only a few levels to play. All the lost levels from NES SMB3 are in SMAS SMB3, only pointers need to be changed.

Note: Since these levels were converted directly from NES (and not upgraded like the rest of the regular levels were), they have no backgrounds, and a few other oddities.

If anyone can find the rest of the lost levels and make a patch I'd like it!

Wily Wars does indeed have a saving problem. One version of Rockman Megaworld doesn't though (Rockman Megaworld (J) [a1][!].bin), and saves just fine. It is also NTSC, and runs faster. The only problem is a little japanese text here and there, but it's not much to worry about.

I've never had a problem saving with any other rom though, so maybe it's your version of Gens. I'm using Gens Plus (which is an older Gens version, but with Game Gear / Master System support), and saving works fine.
