Cleartype was implemented for LCD screens to provide better anti-aliasing effects. I'm surprised Apple II would use it since it used a CRT monitor. In CRT monitors, slightly altering a beam of red, green, blue is a lot easier since there is much more flexibility whereas with LCD, once you place a red, green, or blue diode, it isn't going anywhere...

It's not exactly the same. With that torrent file, there is a direct link between the board--basically you come from the board to get the ROM. Whereas, by doing the google thing, you aren't coming from the board directly. You are going somewhere else to do your thing. After all, I don't believe this board is under google's control or vice versa

I believe global warming is real--but the culprit of it i'm not sure off. It could just be a cycle that the earth goes through or it is something brought on by our discovery of combustion to do things other than keep us warm...

In Java, that is what Swing is for--all you have to do is specify layouts and what you want to go onto a panel and where to place a panel. No need to worry about how to draw a button, making mouse support, figuring out where exactly to draw the button, etc.

As for Java UI out of place, well--i wouldn't say that. Sun has included a windows look and feel theme; which makes java programs have a Windows look. Sun also has probivded a Unix look and feel as well.

As to answer loadingNOW's question--they are all viable because they all do what you want in terms of producing a cross-platform, write-once GUI interface.

The technical reason why duplicating C doesn't work without the use of certain programs is because when you install an operating system, the operating system must provide information to the BIOS to let it know where to start gathering more boot information after it's own (i.e. where on the HD to start looking). the copy command does not do that.

However, if you make a new installatino of windows on that HD, and THEN copy everything from you HD over, then you have preserved all your OS configurations etc.

ehh...still too expensive; i commute every day and I could sure use an iPod because it's a lot easier to carry around. I wonder how long it'll be before apple slashes prices again... probably then, i'll get an iPod (but then, maybe that point I won't have a use for it XD)

something I need to work on here and in real life

what Colleen described what happened to me, sort of. I realized at some point what's the point to posting unless my posts have content. Which is why my average plummetted after the board rebirth. I lost that posting spirit. Anyways, I have it back now but I don't post like I did bad then.

anyways, it is copyrighted and he believes no one should take a photograph of it--yet the state of illinois has it published on their website for tourism. So, what makes the governement different from the public?
