Well, only one thing to do! Kalar swung his scythe happily through the meadow, felling trees and hefting wads of tall grass into the air, singing madly as he tramped... Kalar: "Blow ye winds o'the mornin! Blow ye winds, high ho!" As he finished this sentence he leapt into the air, twirling merrily around, scythe outstretched, an innocent whirlwind of destruction... As he spun, round and round, a figure passed his view in carousel. It looked quite familiar to him, a shirtless young man with a crossbow. Such a crazy world we live in, he thought, for he had seen that man before. "I say, be that Tuxydon I spy? Perhaps he's hunting me... Or maybe I'm the one hunting him. But I must be incorrect... I don't recall ever wanting to hunt anyone." He landed upon his merry way in a crouch, digging the pole of his staff into the ground and coming to the joyful realization that today he would be spectating the hunter's actions. What fun! Highest obtained power level: Local Moderator of the Sim-Battle Arena Recommendations: JDavis, Colleen (I think...), NSNick, Kasumi-Astra, Dracoon, Schwa, Legion, knuck, Kirbynite, Teddylot, Ziff, Toxic, Valcion, Yoshi Dude (more pending) Let me start by saying that I understand that I am one of the newest staff members, and that my inexperience may work against me, but I am applying for this spot to gain experience and to bring whatever skills I can to the staff. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I first joined this board. It was Phil who first introduced me to it, and until I actually joined, he had previously linked me to several funny threads, and given me splashes here and there of information on what the board was like. I joined it in June of 2004 and immediately joined the roleplaying community. Since then, I have become the moderator of the arena, and while many of you may think it is a simple job, or some kind of laughable subset of the board, I assure you some of the most intelligent and interesting members of this board frequent the area and are active roleplayers. We make creative juices flow like wine, and are quite proud of our little corner of this board. I have seen immature members grow into model users, and have experienced some of the best writing in my life as a member of the community. However, all has not been cookies and roses for the arena. I've had to deal with disputes over rules, particularly from a certain subset of users that I wish not to name at this point in time. When arguments come up, I do my best to pass judgement on them, and make as fair a ruling as possible, ensuring that each side sees both where they went wrong and where they went right, and make sure that no personal attacks are made between users. I am hesitant to close threads because I know how the community feels about their roleplaying, but if attacks do end up getting personal, I am not afraid to drop the hammer. Outside of the arena, I enforce what rules I can as best as I can, and am vigilantly on the lookout for trouble. Before reporting users to the staff, I make sure there is a valid case for my report. In staff discussions, I take an active role and try as hard as I can to support any argument I have with as much valid logic and good old-fashioned common sense as I can give. Inactivity is not a problem for me, either. Unless I have some kind of catastrophic emergency, I visit the board at least once a day, regardless of whether or not I make a post. Spamming is not an option for me, as I refuse to participate in the ACS, and instead work to follow the banner at the top of the board and "Live the fun posting experience", as they say. I do not flame users, I do not make personal attacks on users, and I can guarantee that I will not abuse my powers in any way whatsoever. I come to you, the staff of Acmlm's Board, as a hard working, ready-for-anything man who will do his best at whatever job he is given. Flourishing his hammer and spinning it around in his hands like a baton, Janus charged a burst of holy energy from it, and sped toward Nijote! "Whirlwind Strike!!!" As Janus ran, he went into a tornado spin, which swung toward the assassin and amplified the forward momentum of his strike. He came out of the spin, only to dash straight past Nijote, bushido-style, coming out of the attack with Satchel slung over his back... "As long as time doesn't mess with me, I'm perfectly fine..." As a lovely little follow-up, he eyed Odin and Fenrir, turning around and hurling his hammer at Odin to give Fenrir a diversion to work with! (restricted) |

In a fine display of his quick reflexes, Janus drops to the ground immediately on Fenrir's call. He pushes backward with his hands, sliding along the floor of the room and through Nijote's legs. His next maneuver? A quick push-up into a handspring that sent him into the air as he called Satchel back to him, bringing the hammer down on Nijote with a buzzsaw-like overhead strike intended on slamming her in her unsuspecting face several times before she could react to his speed! Hopefully, Ex's attack will give him some room to move and strike Nijote while she's off-guard... |

OK, While we're on the subject of homework, is anyone here familiar with the works of the 19th century Romantic poet Blake? His paralleled works Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience confuse the hell out of me. I mean, I get the main ideas, that innocence is represented by childishness, inexperience, happiness, etc, and experience is represented by pain, wisdom, knowledge, and gain through suffering, but my teacher's asking for something a little deeper than what's on the surface. |

Ah, god, I hate Gaia Online... My girlfriend's sister plays it and does nearly nothing else online at all. I'd rather stick to the roleplaying forums here, at least they're centralized and not blatant spam boards. Just looking at the front page of the site makes me want to heave, it's filled with so many annoying members and overemotional high school initiates that sifting through the junk and the whine-tastic blogs to find something that's actually worth reading is more or less pointless. Yes, it has billions of posts in it, but no, it's not worth being a part of, in my opinion. |
