Posted on 06-25-05 11:13 PM, in Just a question; any plans for a Report Post feature? Link
If it were implemented, personally I'd rather see it be kinda like the Policy Violations tool on deviantART.

You click a button to "Report Policy Violation". It brings up a Form, where you pick what kind of violation it is from a drop down menu (ie, spam; art theft; wrong category (forum) etc) allows you to put in a URL if neccessary (used in the case of art theft) and leave a short comment if you choose.

It then gets submitted for the Policy Violations Staff to review.

I'm guessing here I'd probably like to see users click on a button to "Report Post" and it brings up a drop down menu and comment thing, you pick and submit, and it goes to some kind of Tracker tool for ALL staff to review.

Course, deviantART's feature is anonymous, but I'd rather see the same kind of feature here not be; at least unless we're sure that it won't be abused.

YD -- not sure what happened with that thread, but Xkeeper does so uh.. yeah

But yeah, anything that lacks effort is likely to come under negative criticism. Some people will be very careful about giving a negative critique, and others will be very blunt.

With negative critiques, you have to take both. Even if they're really blunt, because both styles of critique are valuable. Some comments ARE harsh -- but you know what? They're the ones that get your attention. They might hurt a little to start with, but they get you thinking.

Outright personal flames or comments are not on, and empty comments (without any explanation) are not on either, but I think you'll find that (as Yoshi Dude already said) nobody did either.

Thanks, Max. And for everybody else, I'd appreciate it if we could keep this constructive, thanks.

Well, my critique.

* You DO need to learn how to make a background. It doesn't have to be anything too fancy, but it does have to be more than you're doing now. A visually interesting background will draw the reader in, get them interested in your work. To get a reader to even read your work, they have to be interested at first glance -- and you'll need a background to do that.

Everybody has already said it, but I'm trying to explain why it's so important.

RAM can be overclocked, but I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use a DDR400 with a motherboard that doesn't support it.

I know that RAM latency can be modified but I haven't had much experience with actually doing so yet. However, I don't think that will really help you anyways.

I play DivX's through my iBook through the TV and I can attest that using the TV as a monitor is awful.

Awesome for watching DivX's though

Nice. I haven't seen Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, but I keep seeing the ads for it. They show it early in the morning on the weekends though, and there's no chance in hell of me being up in time to watch it

Both colors look good to me

Being fat is exceptionally unhealthy. It has a massive impact upon your health, most obviously your heart, but also on other organs, muscles, joints, etc.

Considering the huge impact that being fat has on your body and health, then yes, it could be considered a disease.

I'm overweight at the moment, and the joints and muscles in my legs don't really like it, and I have acid-reflux related to my weight too. And I'm only a *little* overweight....

I can see why it would be classified as a disease, considering all the health problems directly caused by it, and the preventable deaths caused by it also.

As for going to the doctor about it, people should be encouraged to do so. I'm not saying that things like liposuction or pills are the answer -- the doctor will be able to advise ways to lose weight that are healthy and effective and suited to YOU and your existing health problems. Too many people disregard the doctor entirely when considering losing weight which is dangerous.

I have been under hypnosis before. It was very akin to meditation really.... as for the arm thing, well, when I was hypnotised, it was my right arm, and the hypnotherapist said to imagine it as if there was a balloon tied to my wrist, and the balloon was lifting my arm from my wrist.

ROFL.... Ah, I know what would be annoying. Bananaphone. Or for that matter, any children's music, things like the Wiggles and stuff.

My neighbours are fairly quiet. I'm probably the biggest nuisance on this street.

A disease is any abnormal condition of the body or mind that causes discomfort, dysfunction, or distress to the person affected or those in contact with the person.

Taken from Wikipedia, but I'm sure I can look it up in a dictionary and find a similar definition.

I'm gonna have to second that "WTF".

Well, on "bringing it on yourself" -- my current overweightness I wouldn't quite classify as having been "bought upon myself". I have had clinical depression, and one of the things that happened with me is that I tended to gain weight whilst on the antidepressants. o.o So I wouldn't consider that I "bought it upon myself"....

Course, that's another reason why I think that the doctor should be somebody that people discuss their weight with. While on the antidepressants, nothing I did seemed to help me shift any weight / stop putting weight on. I should've discussed this with a doctor; maybe had a change of medication or been given some other advice as to how to prevent the weight from becoming a problem. The doctor would've had extra knowledge that might've helped.

In a lot of people's cases, yes, I'd have to agree. However, I do have to wonder if that has to do with the topic of it being a "disease" or not.

Anyways, if it wasn't already obvious, I believe it is a disease, and I believe that not enough people take it seriously. I think that it should be seen as a HEALTH issue, and not a BODY IMAGE issue, and that people should seriously consult with their doctors (particularly if they are "Obese") to come up with a SAFE and effective plan for weight loss.

(Note: I think too many people don't even consider that weight loss can be dangerous too....)
