They certainly didn't steal anything - they even set up visits to go there so that they could get valuable knowledge regarding their own implementation. A few of the Mac programmers were even old Xerox PARC alumni.

Seriously, I'm not making the "people like him are stopping nice people from coming by" angle up. I know people that want to go to #acmlm but feel that certain people are being assholes to them. And I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think knuck was one of the infective people.

You'll also notice he's just banned from #acmlm - that's the place where most people want to be. That's the gateway channel and where new users end up. It's not tenable to have people there who insult you at the drop of a hat, or mention of an OS. I could care a lot less about other channels, but #acmlm is a special channel.

As always, the custom title of someone banned states why they're banned. And as always, a person is measured on the board by board activity and on the network by their network activity. He has earned -both- bans thoroughly on repeated merits.

Yes, because everyone has a japanese monkey available for authentic and thoroughly checked translations. Or, failing that, we just use Babelfish.

Kitten Yiffer, it is funny. Most Linux GUIs tries to function as Windows' GUI does since it's a good model - say what you want of Windows, but its GUI isn't badly designed - but yet they like to brush it off and flame Windows a little bit just to keep people from thinking that they agree that there's an area in which Windows fails to suck.

I'll have to say that I agree with Xk. Any channel whose - almost - sole activity hinges on play-by-play of *other* happenings and not discussion is in a pretty sad state. I hope the newbies will start coming back now - I'd rather instruct 20 people on how to use /nick than have one or two people acting holier-than-thou on me.

SMB2J was released for the Famicom Disk System - another ROM format than the ordinary NES rip. A lot of the code is the same, but there's also inevitable new code for poisonous mushrooms, wind and those super trampolines where you stay above the screen for a few seconds. I'd indeed agree that level maps are the way to go here as long as you're sure you can reproduce the special effects in one way or another.

I do either all of (a) or all of (b). I don't do both, but I always do one of them.

Morning:
Eat breakfast (a)
Hygiene [brushing teeth, washing, showering every day or two]
Pick up peripherals I charged yesterday
Catch bus
Arrive near work
Buy breakfast in mall nearby, usually a sandwich or something (b)
Arrive at work
Eat breakfast I bought earlier (b)
Start working

Mid-day:
Lunch - I always buy one of the microwave lunches or some sort of pasta salad
Work
Take break, possibly eating something and then get back to work (only if I work late)
Sum up daily work in a text file
Call it a day
Catch bus home

Evening:
Any mix of freelance work, online stuff like the board and IRC, daily RSS reading, chores and dinner, in any order.

After that:
Hygiene
Making sure I have everything set up for tomorrow
Charging iPod, cellphone
Bed

Wait; seems he died of pancreatic cancer, which, ironically, Steve Jobs also had last year (although a much more unusual variant which is way easier to cure).

It's perfectly possible to die of natural causes at 62, by the way.

Happy birthday. I would have liked you more if you were less of a constant asshole. I actually got along with knuck relatively well at times although it may be hard to believe.

knuck was banned yesterday. Get your facts straight.

I actually heard today why it was taken down in the first place and it was NOT because it raped the already slow server, which was the primary guess of me and a few others.

The other sites being run on this server requires a very peculiar setup of our web server, Apache. When using GD, the image library, strange things started happening, and some of the other sites on the machine just plain didn't work anymore. Work's being done on compiling a more vanilla version of Apache that's more or less dedicated to us where we can run GD without affecting the others, and dance in happy sunshine in general.

This is going to take a while still, but at least you know why. Finally.

Words can't express the respect I feel about people helping out with these kinds of organizations. Everyone's gonna die eventually, but this means the loss of another philanthropist which is never good.

Edit: If you haven't read this excellent article, do.
