I just think it's fucking sick that time and time again our [U.S.] administration likes to emphasize that "we will not negotiate with terrorists" or something along those lines. Al Qaeda had been demanding the release of some Iraqi prisoners in exchange for returning Mr. Berg. And now we get to see innocent heads being sawed off - great.

Edit: It should also be noted that the victim was Jewish. They wanted to hit two birds with one knife apparently.

Hmm.. all of a sudden I have been unable to connect to any server via IRC clients. (I've tried HydraIRC and mIRC) I don't understand. I've changed none of my settings, I called my ISP to see if the network had changed - nothing should be wrong, and I keep getting the message that my connection timed out. Anybody know what could be wrong?

I did recently install Norton antivirus and I know that Norton products tend to interfere with internet access, but I installed it over a week ago and I lost IRC access just yesterday. Who knows...

Xin: Like I said I called tech support for the university network but they told me everything should be in order. He didn't mention any system upgrades. Do I believe them, well no, they're a bunch of schmucks.

In all honesty man, they probably just used that as an excuse to kill the guy. I don't think that the photos that were released warrant cutting someone's head off. (Though as I said not negotiating with them might have done the job.)

Ah, only four and a half weeks of school left. Then, in late mid August I leave to go to the University of Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana. It's a great school, my bro goes there, I can't wait. I'm majoring in Electrical Engineering/Computer Sciences. There are a couple things I'd like to do but I'll probably end up working on energy distributions and stuff like that. If not that then hopefully working in the game industry but I'm not too sure how well that's going to pan out. UCD, I know hella people going there, close to 50 from my school are going there.

Heh go Irish! That's my hometown. My dad also went there and got a degree in Electrical Engineering. He works at a nuclear power plant now.

Game industry? Every guy and his little brother wants in on that...

As for me, I chose to go to Indiana University Bloomington for a few reasons.

1. Cheaper than the private school I was considering, and the private school was offering $9,000/yr in free money!

2. It accomodated my major better (Linguistics). I added Mathetmatics as a second major later, though. "What's your major?" has to be the most annoying question as it almost always comes up when meeting people.

3. In state tuition is cheap.

4. It seemed like a positive place with lots of diversity, people who actually wanted to be in school, as opposed to the secondary envrionment. (yes I know some people dont' want to be in college.)

5. Getting out of my hometown was imperative. Being near my folks just seemed so lame.

6. Bloomington has lots of shit going on, as it is a large campus of 40,000+ students. Concerts, opera, theatre, comedians like Dave Chapelle, many of them for cheap.

Negatives: IU is too much of a party school for my tastes sometimes. I enjoy going out and having a drink now and then but people here party too much IMO. I'm more of a serious student type. So make sure the idiom of the college fits your personality or you might feel out of place sometimes.

People say I'm naturally weird but I can't quite seem to figure out what they think is so weird about me. And no, in my experience being really weird always warrants more attention/reaction.

I got the video from ogrish.com. That site is not for those with weak stomachs.

I'll say. I certainly got a taste of old world barbarism when I watched it. It's a sad and pathetic thing to watch someone die like that. I haven't felt both so angry and so sad since the 9/11 attacks.

I dunno. When I used to watch Unsolved Mysteries when I was little they always had some crap about UFOs of some sort or another. So I'd watch the sky suspiciously at night. But I think most sightings result from hysteria or general ignorance of the types of lights that are usually seen at night.

For example, many of the UM episodes told of UFOs with three lights in a triangle pattern. That's the exact pattern an airplane has.

Most monitors have a menu feature, some button you push brings one up on screen that is. Sometimes the buttons for the controls are hidden. If you can find them, bring up the menu and look around for the degauss option. I don't know exactly what it does but it looks cool.

I... actually liked the commercial. It has a cheesy quality that almost pokes fun at itself. Beats the hell out of those gamecube commercials with the lame highschool age dweebs.

It should be understood that an spc file is actually a memory dump of the SPC at a given time, much like a savestate (which typically have spcs saved within them.)

The data in the file is not so much musical information but a program with instructions on how to play the samples, which are also in the file. Depending on how your rom interfaces with the SPC, i.e. how it selects certain features, the spc file you wish to use might not be compatible and you'd have to tweak things a lot.

Having darker pee just means you're more dehydrated, that's it. (Drinking pop dehydrates you, just stop drinking pop and wait for your next several pees) "Clear and copious" is the motto for healthy peeing.

So I was in a bar the other day, waiting to get a drink when some thirty something dude says to me, "No wonder you kids are so fucked up." I looked up and there was Inuyasha on the TV screen, the sound all the way down. Personally I don't like Inuyasha but I did get into some mainstream anime when I was younger. Then the guy said "but I'd fuck her", which I had a laugh at as I rolled my eyes uncomfortably.

Does anyone else get this kind of grief from older types? (I'm 21) And mind you, I'm not a huge anime fan, and I'll admit there is lots of crappy anime, but there's also a lot of good ones.

Heh, when I did this back in high school we got extra credit for locating the brain. LOCATING THE BRAIN! jeez...

I don't really think the actual dissection is that nasty. It's the godawful smell of whatever they preserve them in that sucks. They should have given us some sort of chloraseptic spray to block it out.

YD: You said someone got squirted in the eye with juice. Nobody uses protective goggles in your school? At my school we used them for any sort of science experiment, no matter how minor. They're probably most important for Chem though.

I think he meant that Wendy's food is messy, i.e. if you're on a date be careful.

Anyways Jimmy John's is the shit. The guy who started the chain (Jimmy) is like 350 pounds but who cares? The Vito is an amazing sandwich. In Bloomington they have a store right by the bars - much easier than going home and ordering a pizza. I think Blimpie's on average is better but the Vito rules.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Chinese food. We have a place called Dragon Express that is greasy as hell but quite tasty. Beef Chow Fun baby.

As far as burger places go, I still like Burger King a lot, even after working there for some time. (The fact that they're the cheapest meal on campus helps too.) Wendy's fries are really good, especially dipped in a Frosty. People who haven't tried it say it's disgusting but the initiated know better. Their restaurants are always poorly lit though. McDonalds.... only reason I go there is for desserts. There's no Dairy Queen around so I make do with the McFlurry. (They discontinued Reese's though *shakes fist*) Their sundaes are all right too, for a quick snack. But their other food is unfit for consumption.
