I lost nearly 20,000 posts, 3 years worth of posting, some of the greatest, funniest threads I've ever posted in, and my beloved user-number...

I want the last 3 years of my life back, ya'hear?!?

What I have done? Well, except for having been a Mod for a long time, and thus had my say in many different staff descisions, the only thing I can think of that I did "alone", was that I first posted a thread calling for a Story Forum, and was also the one who nagged Acmlm the most about making a Story Forum before he made one. That's why I call myself one of the fathers of the SF.

And I guess that in my near-20 000 posts at the board, there has been some intelligence, that have brought a little good to the people of the board.

So, yeah, for the last few days, I've been participating in the Nationwide Norwegian Russ Celebrations. A Russ is a Norwegian High School Senior, and, just like any other country's Seniors, we do certain things to mark the end of our mandatory school (which isn't technically correct, since High School actually ain't mandatory here, but anyone who doesn't want to live on welfare the rest of their lives will go to High School). Anyway, even though there are a lot of Russ-festivities all through the year (such as, for instance, our Christmas Gala Ball, which is much like the American Prom), the main Russ-festivites are in the 17 days between May 1st (Norwegian Labor Day) and May 17th (Norwegian Constitution Day). In those 17 days, nearly all Norwegian Russ dress in clothes that are in a color corresponding to the courses they've taken in High School (Red for people who are eligible to go on to Universities, Blue for people who took business-oriented studies (I think), and Black for people who took manual labor studies). I am a Red Russ. In addition to the clothes, which we wear non-stop for 17 days, we also have a hat, with a tassel. In the tassel, people are allowed to hang different things if they manage to do different stuff. The stuff you have to do to earn a thing for your tassel is usually associated with sex (for instance, riding the bus to school wearing only your underwear, which earns you the right to tie a piece of fabric to your tassel) or public rudeness (for instance, pretending to have tourettes through an entire class, which earns you the right to tie earplugs to your tassel). But trying to get stuff to put in your tassel is not all the Russ does. The 17 days are also marked by an insane amount of drinking, actually to the point that even the director of the Norwegian Breweries Union said he was afraid that the Russ drank too much on the news earlier today. The amount of absences in class also rise drastically during this period (I'm not in school today, too hungover from last night). Finally, there are the Russ-cars (or sometimes even buses), which groups of Russ go together to buy. The cars are painted in the colors of the Russ who own them (thus, ours is red), and given a name, usually a funny one, which is painted on the front of the car (ours is called T

We had a word association thread three years ago, it grew gigantic, then one day we all realized it was 100% spam, so we decided to close it. Since that day, Word Association has not been allowed at this board.

Besides, it breaks both the rules about no one-word replies, and about endless threads...

1337 was also the year that the titles Duke and Dutchess were first used.

And I thought it was generally considered to have lasted 116 years.

Hey, look, it's mr. "I think I look cool by saying cynical and controversial stuff"! There are Mr. Cynicals on many forums, as well, and they are usually a lot more annoying.

By all means, if you don't like angsty teenagers, I won't mind. But your little rant doesn't exactly impress me, seems like you're trying too hard to be cool and intelligent or something...

In this little movie, a bunch of kids will be throwing two basketballs around. Watch the movie, and try as good as you can to count how many times they pass the balls to each other. Then, come back and read the answer...

Spoiler:
The amount of times the kids throw the balls around doesn't matter, the real question is, did you notice the gorilla? No? Go back and watch the movie again, this time, just watch it without trying to count passes. Now, do you see the gorilla?

Well, good luck with your Bar Mitzvah, then. Care to elaborate on just what one does during a Bar Mitzvah for those of us who are not Jewish? (I know the general stuff, from what I've learned in school, but always cool to hear from someone with first-hand experience)

Hm, that's odd. Acmlm's board must be filled with rather exceptional people. Scientists used that movie for a test, and only about half of all who took the test noticed the gorilla.

Volume 2 finally came to my town yesterday (strange, really, we usually get all the good movies as early as possible (being the European/Norwegian premiere date) in my town). I went to see it, which was an interesting experience, considering how I'd just put away about 3.5 liters of beer. Never gone to the movies while drunk before, I was afraid they might kick me out! Anyway, the movie was great, although I must say, it should have been made into one movie, not split up in two parts.

OMG NO! I actually wanted to vote Portman, but voted Thurman. This makes the actual score 14-12.

Spoiler:
C'mon Portman fans, use the same trick as I just did, and tell them you voted for Thurman when you really didn't, and we'll have Thurman kicked out in no time

Makes sense, since I voted in it yesterday...

Well, she has a female first and last name. But negative times negative equals positive, so that means she has a male name!

Yes, it's time for another Eurovision Song Contest. All over the continent, people will be crowding in front of their TV's to witness this display of artistic brilliance and musical perfectness.
What's new this year? Well, because of the large amount of countries participating, the idiots over at EBU have decided to hold a Semi-Final round and a Final. Personally, I think the idea is shit. It takes some of the fun out of the Contest when they split it up like that. I'd rather see small countries like Andorra not in it (even though Andorra's song is quite good (as good as Eurovision-songs go anyway)), than to have the Contest split like this.
Anyway, you all watching this year? Any hopes for who will win? Heard all the songs yet? What traditions do you have when watching Eurovision? Who are you watching with?

(Oh, and by the way, a little Eurovision-trivia, which I think is cool since I'm Norwegian, the only country to have managed to receive "nul points" 4 times, is Norway. The most famous "nul points"-incident ever was also a Norwegian one, when Jahn Teigen was given more applause for getting "nul points" than the winner got for winning.

Meh, people who don't like the Eurovision Song Contest just simply haven't understood the charm of it. I hope that you will one day marry a Song Contest-lover, Max, so that you will have to be forced to watch it, and eventually love it, such as all other good people do.

The reporters for the webpage where I found the test didn't notice it either. But they must have been freaking sleeping when they watched the video, as well, seeing as how they managed to count only 14 passes. Only getting to 14 and not getting the gorilla, what could they have been doing while watching?

Actually, with the new thing passed in the European Union, I believe you are allowed to patent such things as "word processing programs", meaning that any kind of program that allows you to type and then print will be patented by you. Quite scary, the new laws.
