Couldn't you just make a very long path leading to Bowser's, but each segment is completed when you complete a castle?

Is there currently any player or program that's capable of running .dsp or .thp files that come with Gamecube games? I've ripped my Metroid Prime 2 Echoes disc and found these nifty files in the Audio and Video folders. I did find a supposed dsp plugin for Winamp that worked for the first Prime, though it didn't work for Prime 2's files.

In most of the GBA games that I've tried viewing the text, each letter is stored as 2 bytes. A would be 0090, B = 0091 and so forth, Maybe that can help.

I've messed with the text in the two Metroid games and they both have their text stored the way I described.
