Okiem im a total newb on this, just wanted to take a break from PHP for awhile and learn this, so forgive any newbie type comments. Im trying to make a very very simple XHTML webpage, also validateing it to make sure there are no errors. For some reason I have to change my webpage from 'htm' to 'xml' I have no idea if your suppose to or not but hey. I validate it after turning it into '.xml' and I get no errors cool. When I try to look at it useing '.xml' in the url I get ... " The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use of default namespace declaration attribute in DTD not supported. Error processing resource 'http://www.members.lycos.co.uk/sephforums/scripts.xml'. Line 4, Position 7 So I desided to change the So now im stuck with a version '.htm' and 'xml' and there both screwed up. Anyone have any insight on my problem, i tried looking up tutorials but im makeing such a newbie mistake , wich they dont, or from what i seen, cover it. Any help would be apreciated. Heh, I guess it was pretty stupid. Well then back to the basic problem. I changed it to '.htm' to '.xhtml' and it dident validate, and changed it to '.html' and none worked. The error I get is this. " was not able to extract a character encoding labeling from any of the valid sources for such information. Without encoding information it is impossible to validate the document. The sources I tried are: The HTTP Content-Type field. The XML Declaration. The HTML "META" element. And I even tried to autodetect it using the algorithm defined in Appendix F of the XML 1.0 Recommendation. Since none of these sources yielded any usable information, I will not be able to validate this document. Sorry. Please make sure you specify the character encoding in use. " Thats what I get when I change the document to .xhtml .htm or .html Here is the actual script just for refrence. Now for some reason this doesnt work when I validate it, but when I turn it to .xml it does. Thats the problem I need to figure out. Again forgive any horriably newb comments. Thats cool, I added that thanks Tuvai. One more problem came up thou, probly me still being a newbie when it comes to XHTML but ... " Fatal Error: No DOCTYPE specified! I could not parse this document, because it does not include a DOCTYPE Declaration. A DOCTYPE Declaration is mandatory for most current markup languages and without such a declaration it is impossible to validate this document. " What I have for my script , or the DOCTYPE is ... |

I added a new power level to my board ... I added what I needed in function.php Went to color.php and added my own set of colors after the admin colors. Added the selection in edit user.php to pick the custom power level, and added me to ranks. Heres the problem ... In some of the schemes on the board, my user name becomes the color of some of the links? Heres one of the schemes it does it in. Whats also weird, is that it works in the default scheme, and daily cycle, and a few others. I have spent hours trying to figure out whats wrong, and came up with nothing, Does anyone have any idea? Any help would be GREATLY apreciated. |

Exactly Erk. The scheme I posted above for you is one of the schemes out of a few that change my user name color ( wich I did previously set in colors.php ) to the head link colors ... and I cant for the life of me figure out why, or how to fix it. | |||

Had a problem like this before, try this out ... Give it alittle time to cool down, obviously dont try to corner her into a convo the day she gets pee'd off at you. Then, after time passes, a day or two anyways, walk up to her, look her dead in her eyes, and ask her for a serious talk, and if she considers you as any kind of friend, that this is the time to be serious instead of just being pissy for whatever your friend said. If she gives you the time of day, then obviously tell her what you told us, you have no idea whats going on, OR what he said to her, and go on from there. The worst case would be she doesnt talk to you ... and if she doesnt talk to you at the time you want to be most serious, then I dont know what kind of friend she would be anyways. Good luck thou! |

I might be alone, but I dont like this guy personally. Althou the idea behind his jokes is funny, this guy is just stupid ... I forgot the technical word for it, I believe it starts with the letter 'R' but he believes african americans should get paid for white people makeing them slaves in the past. Seen it on the news, hes one of the lead people in the group/act/whatever it is. I dont know TO much about it but, if its true I think its utterly ridiculous ... like HE needs more money. |

Originally posted by mvpo.geo If you have your main site all in one page, like you asked for in your first post, then somthing like this should work. *NOTE* example is from one of my acmlm board files. $head="whatever you want the head to be"; print "$head"; if($page==whatever){ print " this pages content " } And for every if($page==whatever) , you should always have that one head displayed, and the "this pages content " displayed underneath. This also can be done with footers. |
