First off, the poll part is for the screenshots. Which border should I use, or not this one at all? Here are the shots:

With Black Border:

The Black box with the X is mario, he is currently a secret. I hand drew him....

Now for the questions:

1. How do I stall the Intro message box message from poping up so quickly? Mario comes out of a pipe and he doesn't even have a change to land on the ground before the box pops up. I need to stall it for maby 3 seconds.

2. Is it possible, with out a huge amount of editing, to make the message boxes scroll like the ones in YI?

3. I am trying to make a sprite with HH's sprite editor that acts exactly (and looks exactly) like a red shellless koopa, but hurts mario when he is jumped on. I have tried quite a few combonations, but none work. I also need the sprite to stay on legdes and not fall off.

4. How do you make the SMB2 vine climbing lady bugs? I saw them in a hack a while ago (I want to say it was Aioria's hack, but I can't be sure) and I wanted to have them in my hack as well.

5. I need a patch or fix so that all the rows of palette from 8 and below DONT fade out when its a dark BG level.

6. I also need a patch or fix so that only palette row 8 (mario), and the last 8 colours in row 0 and 1 (layer 3 status bar) DONT fade out upon level exit (question sphere and goal post).

Thats all that I can think of right now. Any help for any of these would be great. Thanks and dont forget to vote on the pictures!

Have him start in front of the pipe and do something to make it seem like he just got out.

Without the black border, it looks much better that way, and whoever voted it sucks, shut up, it doesnt, I think its awesome.

Actually, the black border makes the level look like it is inside a picture frame, and I don't know if you were aiming for this. It doesn't look half bad either way in my opinion.

It looks better without the border, but Mario sucks either way.

The easiest way would be to use some tricky subscreen manipuation. IIRC, the box won't appear until that subscreen is shown. (If not that, then make it a vertical level. )

I really, really doubt it. I'm not even sure how YI did it.

I know one of the options, I think that one, doesn't work in the release version. It seems to be setting the wrong bit, but I can't figure out why.

ASM would be the only thing I can think of (and if so it sounds like someone's been making a lot of progress on editing sprites without telling anyone), unless they used some sort of trick... Is it possible the 'bug' is just a custom block on a cleverly-placed moving layer 2?

Hasn't anyone found the routine that does this stinkin' fade effect? It'd probably be easy to hack it to fade all the colours, or not fade at all, or whatever if I knew where the heck it was.

Ummm... wait a minute... when Kyouji and I edited the fading colors maybe there was a value to set it to not fade at all... now if only I could remember what that offset is and I could probably play around with it. I know it is buried somewhere here...

Anyway, I think the black border could be good if you made a widescreen type effect, but the way it is now just doesn't seem too fitting... although without the border is just kind of horrible... looks shoddy... for some reason.

That may actually work. I will try that and see what happens. Everyone will see why I need it stalled when I release a demo in the future

And I know the bug wasn't a custom block because the level had a BG. Kyouji's post about the vertical climbing koopas + ExGFX, was probably what they used. Guess I will have to go with that

And HH, mario isn't an X in the game, I pasted that over him because he is not completly done yet and his palette is screwed. Did want people saying, fix mario, hes ugly etc.

I think both borders look good. You have a very nice use of colors in the plant border here; they look good for 8 colors but you only had four to work with. The black border doesn't work well with the "Keikonium" logo, and I think that without the black border it looks more professional.
