Notice what you typed.

"home.comcast.net/~everythingdotcom/umw/umw.IPS"

The "umw" in "UMW.IPS" needs to be capitalized, as it is in the link. I tested the link in my first post twice and both times it worked perfectly after patching it with LIPS. No corrupted checksum, no messed up ExGFX, no blank screens, perfect both times.

No, it shouldn't matter whether it's capitalized or not.

Well, as it turns out, IT DOES. The link on my first post works, the one that Kario (was it him?) typed doesn't.

The problem with the purple triangles is that a certian block needs to be under them. I don't remember which one, check the tooltip for the triangles.

This thread has gotten sort of off topic...it's just needing to fix my hack (did that), and advice on how to fix stuff. None of you are actually posting how far you are, what you thought of it, what I should improve, what you would rate it....AND, please tell me if you found the Special World. It's hidden deep within the game, and is much harder to find (You can't get to it just by getting secret exits in star roads anymore). How about one hint?
You will have to solve the secret of a game that wouldn't be relased for 12 more years.
Confusing, eh? But once you figure it out, it's a snap, and you'll understand entirely what I mean. So....the search is on!!

Alright. You want to know how good it is? Well, the title screen is bland and uninspired. Levels are either evilly difficult or ridiculously easy. ExGFX is glitched. Several sprites are glitched. You feed the player the most trivial of all info with the info boxes, especially when the part where you say your favorite control setup. Mine is the old default insert = x, delete = y, home = a, end = b, page up = l, page down = r, but I don't have an info box that says that. The Yoshi's House is just EVIL. Even the OVERWORLD is too square; You hardly have anything on it. When I got to Candyland 1 and the level began with a sumo bros' fire lightning hitting me, I just decided 'fuck it...' and stopped playing. The only good thing you did was redesigning the bonus level, but even so you failed to account for the glitched way things appear in it. As such, everything about it comes off as a dull, uninspired, terrible mess. And don't even get me started on the sprite layout. You go from way too many enemies on screen to very few, giving it variable slowdown which is just plain hell to work with. And in one part you have parts of sprites not appearing, and a message box reveals you did this on purpose! It's a miracle you didn't have 3-up moons everywhere, glitched overworld, Mario recolored to look slightly more like Wario but not by much, spots where you can't get past as big Mario, or any yoshi evilness... But just because it's not Wario World doesn't mean it's not terrible. kthx, try again.

And did I mention the part where the gray backwards question mark ExGFX acts like a gradual rightward slope end? Because it does.

Okay, here's what I have to say: As anyone else would say, the title screen is very creative. The ExGFX are perfectly fine, as anyone with eyes can see. The overworld is perfect. The levels are creativly designed and no sprites are glitched up. Either your emulator can't support files bigger than 0.0001 KB, or you're completely blind. The backwards question mark block isn't ExGFX and was already acting like a slope, in case you've never seen Lunar Magic's "Add Objects" window. In the message block, I kindly suggested the control style, not ordered it. Sure, it's normal for some people to not like hacks, but you have proven that you know absolutely NOTHING about SMW Hacking. You know what's a miracle? That you only have 233 posts of criticizing people's hacks instead of 5,000,000.

In other words, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Oh, so now you're defending yourself when you clearly have no sense of style... brilliant. Just brilliant.

1. The title screen ain't creative, pal. No one has said so. No one will. multicolor letters isn't creative. It's just dumb. A newbie idea, if you will.

2. The overworld isn't perfect. It's too bland. There's not enough in it.

3. The levels may be creatively designed, but if it's too hard or too easy, no one will care.

4. no sprites glitched up? try the bouncing fish. half the time it looks like a vine, because you replaced it with a vine GFX to allow you to use the piranha plant correctly. So don't use that fish, it doesn't work.

5. If it was already acting like a slope, why the fuck did you use it? You CAN change these things, you know. It's in the help file.

6. Be that as it may, it's trivial. And you do stuff even worse, too...

7. Nothing? Explain why the only time my latest hack has had anything bad said about it, it was by Juggling Joker, and over the slope/jump blocks I didn't give instructions for clearly enough, which was fixed? You're just randomly throwing insults in a poor attempt to make up for the fact you're terrible, and that's all there is to it.

Me too...I guess we both sort of overreacted. But everyone, consider this:

Most hacks SEEM bad at the start. This is because when a person first starts a hack, he/she barely knows anything about making a hack of that game, as was my case, and designs the levels crazily just for the fun of creating new levels. Over time, the person discovers more about hacking, and the hack gets better as it progresses. That's why many hacks seem to start out bad but then get better (A good example is Mario World Super). My hack started out with no custom map16, no ExGFX, no redisigned overworld, no custom blocks. But as it progressed, it gained these things and got better. So no one can just play until the 2nd world and then declare a hack "bad". I'm sure even the most sceptical player would enjoy my hack (or any other for that matter) once they got to about world 4. From there, it gets better, including the awesome "Vile Volcano" levels, an ancient ruin which you must discover the secret of the prehistoric hill, and a lake that while somewhat unimpressive and only having 4 levels, is the gateway to the last world, World 8 (Yes, that's 8, not 7, and it's only the last world if you don't count the two bonus ones). Just look at my background, which is composed of screens from my hack.

So, let's play some more, and then everyone can tell me what they think.

1) Palettes are odd.
2) The background in one of the screenshots is strange.
3) Some things are rather bland.

If you think this way, you should try to improve the parts you did before. Then you may have an enjoyable hack. I just made a hack to test out LM and round up my skills, and I unloaded them in a separate hack. I even had to make another hack in the middle to improve!

It's like Chocolate Island 3 in the original-you have to find the secret exit.

The secret exit is really not that hard to find. There's a platform below the platform that the goal is on, so you drop down where the goal is. Here you'll find the key, then hitch a ride on the brown platform and you're home free.
