Megaman Vengeance was the homebrew NES game DES was working on back in 2003 until 2004, when Vagla got hacked and someone leaked it. I haven't heard anything about it since then and want to know if anyone knows anything about it. I looked at DES to find out what was the last thing mentioned and the thread is no longer active.

I put it in Rom Hacking because of DES, plus, I don't know where to put homebrew stuff.

Close this if it's a sensative subject still. even though it's been close to 8 months since the leak.

I don't even think Vagla is active no more, neither are the programmer. What was his name... Seph3? But I'm not too sure though.

Ok!

Megaman Vengeance was officially canceled when Vagla left. So, you can forget about it. It was a great project though....

I remember hearing that Seph was still working on it even after Vagla quit (this was before the leak though). I don't know if he still is working on it... though.

Hi! A Brazilian page made a recent (12/19/2004) interview with Vagla about his MegaMan game. It's not dead and he still want to release a demo as soon as possible.

If you can read Portuguese, I recommend a visit to "Nightshade Hideout". And if you can't I still recommend because there are a lot of new screens of the game

Here's a decent translation, I used a translator I had downloaded into Firefox by the way. Didn't know the project was still alive!

I don't think it's prudent to call it "his" game... since the brunt of the actual work is (or at least was) being done by Seph3. Vagla is part of the project fo sho... but there would be no project without Seph.

OK Disch, I'm sorry. In fact I didn't knew the entire staff of the game and wrote that wrong information.

By the way, I can't acess the translated link by Someguy. And if you can't , just like me, here is a translation (always remembering that my English sucks):

"Megaman Vengeance isn't dead

The world was amazed recently with Brian Provinciano's port of GTA3 for the NES, but that isn't the first time that a new game is created. You can frequently see new games coming from the Asian pirates or even by fans, usually American students.

Sometime ago we saw the release of 'Sack of Flour' - a very regular game except by the fact of it's year of production, 2002, and by the number of the people involved, just five.

But in 2003 we saw the announcement of a 100% new fan-game called MegaMan Vengeance. An action game based on the latest adventures of "Capcom's BlueBomber'.

At the boards of Dragon Eye Studios (R.I.P.) some screenshots appeared, with a very special one..... The graphics were beautilful, but the shock comes with the presence of a never-seen-before effect on the NES: The distortion of objects and movement made by the water.

The NES community became nuts, and couldn't wait to play MMV. But the programming take a hell of a time and the 'coming soon' term wasn't very precise.

In March / 2004 the source code was stolen, but as Vagla himself said: 'It didn't went too far away'. However, this fact was enough to let the team without motivation and cease the production of the game. Vagla, one of the men behind MegaMan Vengeance, left the Romhacking scene and the project was apparently dead.

We located Vagla to talk a little about the project. He says that the project isn't dead and a demo will be released in a 'few' months. But he also says that the he and the rest of the team ins't working that much on it lately.

When we asked about the GTA3 port for the NES, Vagla said that it is a wonderful initiative but he wonders if the precision of the controls will be as good as the one present in MMV. And about the GTA graphics, he liked a lot.

We tried to get acess to a MMV demo and he just said 'no way!'. But he got some new screens and here they are!"

WOW! I remember seeing this back in the day when I started taking an interest in ROM Hacking. I'm glad this project isn't dead either.

A couple of months a demo? Wow, I really thought it was dead for awhile. Except for the person that leaked it, everyone that played a demo before like it. It has to be the best thing for the community in a long time. After a full version is released, maybe another homebrew might begin.

Ok, I need to clear a few things up about this interview, I quoted macbee only because he's the one that posted the translation. This isn't an attack on you, just a clarification of what's being said here by the interviewer.

Scanline distortion isn't a new thing: it's been done several times in NES games and many homebrew demos. This was the first time a water effect scanline distortion had been used in a fan based homebrew. However, the effect is still damn pretty neat. Kudos to Seph3 on this

Becoming "nuts" is a bit of an overstatement. There was good amount of interest, but MegaMan Vengeance wasn't the to-end-all projects that would put everyone else's to shame.

From what I recall, the source had not been stolen, but a demo had been leaked out by an anonymous source. But it does seem that the leak was a big hit to the team's plans, unfortunately.

A demo has been planned "in a few months" since the project's start, I don't think that we're ever going to see MegaMan Vengeance in any form or fashion as an official release. From last I heard, Seph3 hadn't even been working very much on it before the demo had been even leaked, which sucks, but we all have to have our priorities :/

I think it's sad... That game had been hyped up quite a bit. But hey no problem! Other people will make games right? Can't wait for Neotoxin and Grand Thefendo!

Hello there. I saw this thread and thought it appropriate to mention that I was the one doing the graphics for Megaman Vengeance. I vanished from the internet for a while and when I got back it had pretty much been abandoned due to the leak and whatnot. Tis too bad, would have been pretty sweet.
