I'm rereleasing this because I just noticed that the link on zophars didnt have my real demo. And there was alot of people wanting to play this.

So I decided to rerelease it:

- Screenshots -

A first glimpse on the intro level. (YES this hack actually has an intro level). LOTS and lots of credit goes to Matrixz for his awesomeness ASM hacks and all of the help he willingly gave me this project.

MegaMan VX does NOT slide. He now dashes Also many thanks goes to Bit-Blade for his excelent Mega Man sprite he made for this hack.

That's a Vile-bot
Thanks goes to solid-tbone for giving me inspiration in starting this project in the first place.

I havent given him a real sprite yet. But I named him Doc, Com.

We all hate these kind of traps dont we? Yet there is a way to survive this. Did I say this was WaveMans new level?

This trick is used alot in this level. You should keep this in mind if jumping does'nt work
(WaveMans level is one of the hardest. Dont start off with this level if you are new to Mega Man).

Rush need to be used more. This is one of the few places hes kinda handy in.

Remember what I said on screen 6

Time for some boss battle. The AI is much harder. Remember to use the E - Tanks.

Allright, new level. This level was inspired by the MMX2 intro stage. XD
Dont ask me how..

Dont rush through levels.

I kind of thought that Crystal-Joes fited in this level.

- DEMO -

Enough of screenshots and give me da demo!
http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfolders/upload4/MMVX.zip

(THIS IS A MEGAMAN 5 HACK)

- Apply the Palette File -

If you have problems with this:
With Fceud:
Config... / Palette.. / Load Palette / Close
Tell me if you have problems with this and you have another emulator.

Dont worry. The final version of this hack will have 2 versions. 1 with the NES default palette and 1 with this palette.

I need all feedback I can get. This will give me the inspiration on working more on this. Thank you.

Maybe you should specify it's for Megaman 5...
Well, I never played this hack before, and I must say that I really enjoyed it ! Very good level design, nice graphics, and the new gameplay slightly changed is really neat to play with. The only defects I found were the bosses, really too hard, and some graphics things such as the green background in Wave Man's stage, and the snow texture in Gravity Man's stage that looks a bit garbaged for me. But these are details, this hack is really promising ; and I add that this is a must-have demo for all Megaman lovers.

Also, mm6 and mm5 use the same music engine ? How did you add that music ? Because I tried to replace tracks from a game to another, and it of course didn't work, the only way I found was to replace all the sound engine from another mm game, it worked but for a little time, too many bugs and glitch (especially with the sound effects engines). I looked where you placed the new music, and I'm curious about what was that before in mm5; unused data?

I agree about the snow texture in GravityMans level. That will be changed in the next version. Also what about the green bg, should I make it darker?

I was able to add Mega Man 3,4,6 music into my hack thanks to Matrixz.
He made an ASM of some sort. You should ask him if you want more info.

Ok, I'll see with him then.
For the green bg, I think the color doesn't fit very well with megaman's color, you should make it darker as you said, or even try another color...

Dx: Is this the one I played a long time ago? Anything new?

I need all feedback I can get. This will give me the inspiration on working more on this. Thank you.

As I've told you on AIM (in the past), I've always suggested you finish this, giving you dumb ideas from me and such.

But yeah, the graphics were probably one of the most enjoyable parts of the demo, and I loved the idea of an intro level.

You should finish this.

Wow... that was Megaman 5 at one time? Awesome. I couldn't tell until the screenshot with Wave Man that this was the case. I am SO downloading this, as I love the original game. The screenshots make me want it more. Looks promising. I suspect I will be raving and telling you what a good job you did when I post after playing.

Maybe 'cause my pseudo is weird (especially if you pronounce it in english ), but to get away from that, just call me JaSp. (Actually I keep Jaspile because as far as I know it's unique on the web, whereas Jasp is not, and I like to be unique )

Importing music from the other games, and inserting special levels at the beginning is very very impressive.

However, requiring a hack to use a custom palette file is really really bad.

Yes. but as I said. I will make two versions for my next release. One with the original nes palette and one with Bit-Blades custom palette.

I played this awhile back, and I guess I'm going to sound like everyone else here, but.. Wow. This hack kicks ass.. though the bosses are a bit hard (Espceially that vile-bot.. A bit too hard for an intro level, I'd say).. Other than that, the levls are well designed, Intro level is a great idea, I liked the old green BG better than the blue one.. Great job, and you should really finish this hack.

I really like those mountains in the intro stage background. That's a great look.
