Wite's right, all this is really is a message board, just like any other board out there, this is a place to chat about just about anything your heart desires, not about spam and raising post count just for a measley custom title and whatnot. I posted since March 2002 and I didn't get an custom title until somewhere around January 2003, but that really didn't mean anything to me that much, sure I might have spammed a little in November/December 2002 because other people had their's, but I didn't go complaining about changing some piece of text and image, because that's all it is really. No offence to anyone, but should I really feel sorry for those that spend an excess amount of time here just to raise their post count and whatnot? It is okay to post here on a daily basis, but to exceed your time to post 24/7 just doesn't sound normal at all. There's alot out there beyond this computer, places to explore and fascinating people to meet and such, so I would suggest maybe somehow make a schedule and limit your time to when you can go on the board, this way you won't feel like message board's are part of your life. I know I sure wasn't happy when the board was wiped out, but that was because of all the hard work Acmlm put into the board and I'm proud of him for that, same for his friends that have helped him in the long run, so I really didn't mind starting over because I didn't care for that custom title at all. This is all I have to say.

Originally posted by Utilityman I more or less did the same thing. On another board a year or two ago, a friend and I pissed off one of the admins, and he knocked our post counts back to zero. To start with, I was pretty pissed, but after a while, I realized "hey, my post count on this MB has no effect on my actual life. It's all for fun. Getting it knocked to zero is like playing an arcade game, scoring the top score, then returning the next day only to realise that someone had unpluged the machine over night." If you still consider posting here fun and worthwhile, you should have more fun getting your post count back to where it was, seeing as you can now try some of the crazy stuff you didn't do last time. If you don't, well, some people'll miss you when you leave. On a similar note, I lent my PS2 and games to a friend of mine a while ago. A couple days ago he phones me to tell me that he accadentaly copied over my Dark Cloud 2 file. I was actually kind of happy about it, seeing as I can try different things this time through. |

For all of you that actually HAVE a life, we are happy for you, kthxbye. For those who don't, let them ask for their post count. Really, i don't care. 2000 posts is easy to do, and even so, i don't care neither since i can reach 2000 in a few months. |

The post count has a weight... When someone says something dumb, you can flame them, cause you're right and they're dumb, and your post count is bigger than theirs. Now I could say I have a big penis, and even if it's true it's impossible to check for other people than myself and my penis doctor. I don't post a lot and my post count was my secret weapon. Now I am defenseless. If I say something stupid, someone with a bigger post count will destroy me. I must be careful. They are EVERYWHERE.

About the old threads, yes, it might be okay to host the old database somewhere, with login.php and editprofile.php removed. The Lunar Magic Beginner's FAQ is lost now, and since I don't have a backup of it (I HAD one, but it vanished and didn't was able to locate it, the .txt file simply is gone ), having it somewhere, at least it might be nice to have it back . The same goes for the OLD ExGFX Workshop and "Useful memory locations" threads as well, at leats concering SMW hacking About the post counts: My 2,5k posts are gone, but there is far more important in life than these |

As far as I remember, I was aproaching my three thousandth post. I'd care about losing some of those, but I don't think I've had anything brilliant to say in the last four months except the "you are a fish" rant, and that's not lost; in fact, it's getting published. The way I see it, all I'm losing is a bit of writing and a big number. I saved anything I wrote that wasn't crap. And, as much as I like big numbers, I don't think I had a mole of posts yet. |

For some reason i'm mostly annoyed over that I lost my PM's... And of course there were some nice and informative threads that I lost, like that Linux thread I created. I should go and create a new one with new questions. The loss of an high post count isn't something to cry over, the posts themself are more important than the quantity of them. ~_~ |

It won't matter too much if he can earn it again fast The board is growing back pretty well, and it already feels about the same as before for me ... so really not much has changed, other than all the high numbers being gone for a while, and no old threads buried deep down ... maybe one day, I'll put some progress indicators somewhere, showing how much from the old user/thread/post/view counts we got back (1%, etc.) |

the original topic was in asking how soon the old board would become available again, for access to some of the threads therein. then other people came in and start asking if they can get their post counts back, which is a different subject for a different thread. |

Usually it's considered spam if a topic wanders into often covered generic territory. Usually happens with some heated discussion, too. Sometimes, though, threads become more interesting, and that's where we cross the border out of spam territory. I don't care for post counts, really, but obviously my Blog from the Officer's Club is of great importance to me. There are a lot of memories in there that I don't want to lose. True, I always ran the risk of losing if the board ever went down, but the reason it grew so big was because of the input from other users and the traffic it got. |
