But if TWW is not the last in the timeline can someone explain why Ganon is alive I mean
Spoiler:
He was struck with the Master Sword in the head. How could he still live, unless his Ganon form takes over the 'Ganondorf form'. Remember that he was sealed away, and turned into stone.

Or I'm I missing something?

Ganon comes back from lots of stuff. I doubt getting turned to stone is so much worse than getting sealed in a void.

I dunno, perhaps...

Twinrova? ;P

I personally am not sure if TWW isn't the last game in the timeline; it could very well be the last, but that wouldn't by any means explain the other games.

Well, he gets turned into this after he gets killed. How could he still be able to 'live' after what happens to him when he's into his weakest form (while when he's Ganon, he's alot thougher than that.) Anyway, It doesn't have much to do with the main topic, so I'll stop.

That could affect the timeline .

It really makes me wonder though... do you think Miyamoto really wants it to be this complicated?

Okay, about Four Swords, I took a look at the plot, and I'd say it takes place after Link's Awakening, with the same Link.

Let's look at the facts:

1) Zelda knew Link. That pretty much rules out this being all new characters.
2) Zelda summoned Link. This would be kinda hard after OoT/MM, as Link was travelling.
3) He was summoned to some shrine Zelda knew about, with a legendary hero who slew Vaati, blah blah. Rules out this being set right after Wind Waker, I'd guess.
4) After LttP, Link set out on a journey to train in case evil would return. (and LA takes place as he is returning to Hyrule) I kinda doubt he'd feel a reason to do this if evil did return and he saved the day once again..

Makes sense, eh? No, I haven't seen the ending, and have no idea what really happens in the game storywise, but it can't be THAT complicated, as it allows you to choose your level.

And I have no idea what the hell happens in Four Swords +, apart from the return of Vaati (who escapes from the Four Sword seal again, so this being the tale of the original hero who slew Vaati is out of the question. Maybe the Minish Cap Link is that guy? I dunno. Anyone?) and Gannon being involved (though I have no idea whether Vaati revived him or anything. Could someone who played the game in english sum up the plot?

All I know is LttP is the very first in the "timeline" and Zelda 2: Links Adventure, is supposedly the last, when Link is an adult. But is that the same Link? So WW could be after all of this, yet with another Link.

I doupt Miyamoto really cares, most Zelda games are very much alike. Get the 3 Pendants and or / Key items to release the Master Sword. Take the Master Sword, and use it to defeat the evil of the world and restore the Triforce while most likely saving Zelda.

The way I look at most of the games, they're just a re-telling of a tale with different events.

Er. There are multiple Links And anyway LttP was the first when it came out, but then Ocarina of Time was stated to be before LttP.

I know there are multiple Link's.

Give me a source saying OoT is before LttP.

Edit: Is this a Joke? That last part made my laugh ... "Link III marries and has a son, Jacob."

Jeez, it was on Nintendo's site around the time it came out... It's pretty certainly been taken down by now.

EDIT: As for the edit in your post, yeah, that's pretty clearly mostly fanmade.

Sorry, I just like to argue, brings richness to the discussion. (wtf?)

Well I simply typed in "Zelda Timeline" under google, after looking at a few sites OoT does seem to take place before LttP.

I could have sworn though, even in some official OoT strategy guide I had it was said that LttP was the first of the series. Well, it was probably Bradygames or something.

Edit: Re: Edit: Lol.

A real Edit: Well, I'm now talking about the Timelines I'm reading over now, not that crapy one above. Make sense?

Edit: j/k, this is a not a real edit.

Heh. Have they ever said a single true thing? I remember their FFVII guide with "all items and materia categorized inside!" on the cover was missing most of them.

I heard it on some kind of E3 video or the like, with a Nintendo person there playing the game showing it and stuff. I was thinking that it would work like the future Links after Minnish cap(From what it shows the Links before it had no cap)had kept the green hat, or perhaps one time when preparing to be a reincarnation or however it should be worded of Link the story deteriorated and the Link wore a non sentinent floppy hat. And talking floppy hats are rare so it's possible it was just incorperated into the legend as a thank you to Ezlo. Minnish Cap seems to also be the story of where the Four Sword came from or so I heard. Also, Minnish Cap has no Gannon I don't think, and it features Vaati before he turned into the way he is in the FS games(in this he's human), so it's possible he was cursed or lost his body and remained as a spirit. I don't know what happened to Vaati at the end of Minnish Cap though I'd guess that he got sealed up, in which he then went lose from the weakening spell in FS+LttP, and then was sealed again and was set free by Link himself thanks to some trickery by Gannon who forced Link to have to draw the Four Sword and defeat a Shadow Link, which forced him to unleash Vaati, which worked to Gannon's advantage I think. Had he not done that, the Shadow Links would of caused too many problems, and they probably were too strong to be defeated with a normal sword and it's possible the Master Sword wasn't "there" yet, or possibly wasn't accessable. Sorry for the large single paragraph

Here is my theory.

Link is a child, he grabs the master sword, 7 years pass, he defeats Gannon, seals him away in the past. In the time Link is a child is when Ganon is sealed away. What happened when link was an adult never happened then, he just went into the future to get the sages. Then he is going through a forest having a good day, Epona is taken from him, he goes into the land of Termina that is actually a few miles from the Hyrulian borders. Link comes back to Hyrule. He thinks Ganon is sealed away, he lives a long life and dies. After this Ganon comes back, everyone waits for the Hero of Time to come, but he is dead so he can't. So then Ganon trys to rule Hyrule and stuff. The Gods decide to seal Hyrule (and Termina) beneath water. The Gods tell a few people to go to the mountain tops so they can survive and make a new world. That is why Tingle from MM is there as well as the Kokiri descendants from OoT. A random child by chance is intwined in the story, and his name happens to be Link. He is not Kokiri, he is not legendary, just some kid that cared for his sister. He does all the stuff from WW the end.

Zelda 2005? My theory is Miyamoto wants to forget about WW happening and throw in more Zelda and less Celda.

Questions, I will clarify things if you wish.

Though I love Zelda dearly. I never really understood the time lines... Just the Ocarina of Time , Majora's Mask transition. As for the older games. I guess those were well... all retro. Some game's not need a timeline to be fun. Zelda is one. I only wish Final Fantasy had a time line besides that Yuna/Yuna2 shtttt. :-/

Ocarina of time doesn't have to split into two timelines, it could perfectly work in one.

Boy with fairy comes out of the woods and goes to Hyrule town -> boy speaks to princess -> boy collects 3 spiritual stones -> boy enters temple of time -> boy exits temple of time and goes to the well in kakariko -> boy enters temple of time again -> boy returns and goes to the desert -> boy goes back to the temple yet again -> boy returns -> boy goes to search for the fairy left him -> boy ends up in Termina -> boy saves world -> (???) -> 6 years + x months later (MM took place several months after OoT, as said in the manual) young lad walked out of the temple of time (*) -> boy collects medallions and awakens some sages -> boy returns to temple of time -> boy returns with lens of truth -> boy does to the desert -> boy returns to temple of time -> boy returns with silver gauntlets -> boy awakens the rest of the sages ->boy takes on the king of evil -> ganondorf gets sealed away -> boy goes back into the temple of time and never returned

(*) This would sort of explain this certain part of WW's intro:
"But when all hope had died, and the hour of doom seemed at hand...a young boy clothed in green appeared as if out of nowhere."
