I'm not sure if he discovered it or not, but my friend who lives close to me told me about the debug mode in SMRPG. I'm not sure if he discovered it or not on his own. Considering it was a Pro Action Replay Code (2 of them, actually), I doubt it. However, I have found this interesting nonetheless, and anyone who is interested in hacking SMRPG would be interested in this too, if they didn't know about it already.

Use a SNES emulator that supports Pro Action Replay codes, and then enter these codes:

7FF40400
7FF40501

This code seems to be flawed somewhat; when you start a game up, it messes up the standard map exits, but only once in a while. Sometimes, they work fine. But lots of times, especially with the the top right exits, they send you here:

This room seems to be incomplete, and a little glitchy. However, there are a few nice features in this room, but so far all I have found are cheat-type features.

FEAUTRES:
------------------------------

-You are able to automatically travel to: Bean Valley, Land's End, Nimbus Land, Monstro Town, Barrel Volcano, or Bowser's Keep (but you must talk to Bowser to go there).

-Talk to the guy in the top left corner, and you get a plethora of cheat options:

-PAGE 1 OPTIONS:

Save: Same effect as a Save Block. I think it says you are at Mario's Pad, but if you enter the save file, you should be in the "World Map" room.
Oops, talked to him: Exits menu

-PAGE 2 OPTIONS:

Treasure Seeker: It seems that you acquire the Signal Ring when you select this.
999 coins: take a wild guess... you get your wallet filled

-PAGE 3 OPTIONS:

Princess joins party- Puts Princess Toadstool in your party
Bowser joins party- Puts Bowser in your party

-PAGE 4 OPTIONS:

Mallow joins party- that wimpy fluffball joins you
Geno joins party- the kickass star-warrior-doll joins you

-PAGE 5 OPTIONS:

-World Map "ON"- This makes all areas of the World Map (the one you are used to, not this one) assailable (a.k.a. accessible)
-World Map "OFF"- All areas of the map are off-limits

-PAGE 6 OPTIONS:

End- exits menu
Star Menu Test- Right now, exits the menu, and makes it so the mushroom dude won't talk to you again... very odd... perhaps there was some other option here at one point that was just wiped out? This would be interesting to look into
Ending- For all those lazy bums who never got around to beating SMRPG, you can see the ending cinema and the credits in their entirity with this option.

Things to look into here are that there is a MASSIVE amount of unused space in the Debug Mode room (a.k.a. "World Map"), and there are only a couple mushroom dudes to talk to. I think perhaps at one point there was a mushroom dude for every area of the game. Also, that Mario clone does nothing now, but perhaps he is SUPPOSED to be used for a warp to Mario's Pad? It would certainly make sense. Also, that Star Menu Test seems interesting... I might look more into that.

I searched the rom up and down for clues. Although I couldn't find anything (yet) indicating a Star Menu, I did find much of the game's readable text (located in the range from $22000A-$24913F) and a fair amount of unused space in the rom, in the middle of it. Perhaps some things were originally planned for the game that they took out at the end?

Of course, the enemy data for SMRPG has already been long discovered, and there is an editor for that. But people looking to hack everything else in SMRPG might find this info useful, I hope. Again, I don't know if this info's already been released, or how long it might have been released; I simply know that I had no clue of this code until my friend told me of it. So, don't yell at me if this has already been found...

Although, you should mention if this HAS been found before, so I can yell at my friend for acting like he found it. Again, hope this is useful for SMRPG hacker-wannabes. This has certainly gotten me interested in looking at SMRPG data :O

Although, I have no clue about SNES ASM coding... so... I'll probably stay away from this...

There's already a guide up on GameFAQs that details this room, and I believe the same PAR code was used to access it.

(It's not a link, because clicking it won't work.)

*NOTE TO SELF* Kick friend in stomach. Shoot friend. If friend is still alive, bury him nonetheless.

Well, even though it already existed, I sure didn't know about it, so it's still a good thing you posted it.

Well, at least this topic wasn't a COMPLETE waste... and I think there could still be some work done on this... the room looks incomplete, and there is a lot of unused space in the middle of the rom's code.
