Bwaahahah, I spent a few minutes working on this, but I've made so now I can add as many different power-ups for the inventory box as I so well please. As proof
Listing of first 7 power ups.

then a listing of the next 7, showing that the tile and the sprite do work and the power up does have an effect.

Now you can see that the wings have been equipped.

As you can see, there are 14 power-ups shown and SMB3 originally had 13.

By any chance, did you make the inventory longer? Because, you know, that would be FUCKING BADASS if you did.

Not like the hack isn't already, of course.

well.... I was gonna keep that a secret, but since you asked, yes. The inventory box has been (for a while now) expanded from 28 to a whopping 49 items (why not 50? because it only displays 7 items per box, and 49 is a multipleof 7).

And to show that I am adding real new items, I have a movie!

Small file to download, extracts to 48MB

Bigger file to download, but extracts to only 3MB

This movie shows off the Bob-omb power-up. You'll see what it does in the movie

That Bob-Omb thing is quite neat Does it do the same thing if you use it on a boss, or does it have no effect there? I noticed in the movie you got to use it twice, which gave me another question.

Are there going to be button codes in this game, like you had in Mario Adventure for the Sound Test and the like? That could be neat to see, but then again, the only thing you really could use it for is if you were going to have a Sound Test, and then to give you different power ups

A bigger item inventory is always good to have as well, although whenever I play Mario 3, I tend to skip by Mushroom houses and the like

What you've done so far is looking very good

Okay... that was freaking incrdible. Like blowing up enemies alone is enough reason to actually collect coins.

The bomb doesn't work on platforms, power-ups, or bosses, so it won't create impossible situations

Now what could that "Stage 0" power-up on the rightmost edge of the first screenshot be?

If that's some kind of "portable level" that you can carry around with you and place on one of the unoccupied map spaces, and then go in there and get coins / fight things/ etc., well, then this game will be just about perfect.

So what exactly is happening in those screenshots? Mario is in what appears to be a rat or mouse suit, he picks up a Bob-omb, and then he's floating in midair in a ball that looks sort of like the Screw Attack from Super Metroid I assume it's something like the Kuribo's Shoe, except you aren't in it

Whatever it is, new powerups are always a good thing to have. Nice work adding that

Ok I suppose I won't leave the suspense:

This is the Mouser Suit. Why "Mouser"? Mouser is the character in SMB2 that throws Bob-ombs and happens to be a mouse. Mouser Luigi can generate bob-ombs to throw at enemies, which explode shortly after. Also, he an perform a somersault, which causes him to roll into a ball and he can defeat enemies that, previously, only the Kuribo shoe could do

The only thing I didn't really like about your old game was the overworld map, but this one looks much, much, much better!

OMG MCKIDS RIPOFF!!!! (eh, actually not. ) I can see tons of uses for being "upside down", considering I just know two platformers from my head that utilities this (Megaman and Mckids). Sure it's not actually reverting gravity like in Megaman but... heh.

Yes yes, that's right, FIVE, count them, FIVE fireballs folks. Let's say, it was not easy at all, but I did it and you saw it here first!
Looking through this thread again, I really wonder how five fireballs will do on a real NES.

Now, unless the PAL version uses a diffrent mapper. Maybe I could buy an SMB3 cart, make my NES universal and... i'm considering doing that.

Wow. The Panda suit looks really great. When you're spinning like that on the plants do you have to keep pressing the button or does he just keep bouncing because he's on the plants? And what happens if you jump upside-down?I am going to play this hack so much...
