The only DDRMAX2 combo that has a pad with "Ignition" in it is like $200. Though with free shipping, it may come out to the same as the other site..I'll have to check.

Physical fitness and losing weight aren't one and the same--though I wouldn't complain if I were to lose somewhere between 5-10 pounds from the whole experience. It isn't so much that I'm fat as much as just being lazy and out of shape.

Well I just got my 2x Playstation pads and PSX->USB Adapter via UPS today, it cost me 25 bucks but was well worth it. Until now I haven't spent more than 5 minutes playing on a pad, and really I have yet to pass any songs on a pad even though Ive only played about 5. It's strange going from the point where I can do almost any sim on a keyboard yet I cant do shit on a pad.

I plan to pratice on my pads for 1-2 hours a day im sure ill get much better in time.

I can imagine what that's like There's a couple songs I have right now that are apparently supposed to be played on a pad only. Some are still moderately difficult on either heavy or challenge, and seeing if they're as hard as they are using a keyboard, they must be a lot more tricky when using a pad I can't wait for October to come, so I can get DDR Mario Mix and actually try playing that style of game without using a keyboard

I finally mananged to find DahrkDaiz's simfiles on Bemainstyle yesterday (apparently I had been transposing the "h" and "r" at the beginning before), and I managed to download all of them except for Party 4U, since even when I'm logged in, a download link doesn't appear Would it be too much trouble to ask someone that has that song to email it to me, or upload it to YouSendIt? It'd be very much appreciated, as it's frustrating being able to download all the files except one

That aside, "Centerfold (Angel is a...)", "and Witch Doctor Megamix" are my favorites out of all of them. My brother seems to find the background for the latter extremely funny, although I don't see why. To me, it looks like something you'd put on a wall in a doctor's office to amuse young patients

One other question I have now. A page or so back, both alte Hexe and Prier posted something about a 45-minute long DDR Megamix. I searched for that exact text on Bemanistyle, and came up with 4 results, all of which are less than 5 minutes in length. Is that song on the site at all, or is it somewhere else? I haven't been able to find it yet, which is why I'm asking

Took me forever to send it to Lord Rahl when he asked. The sim's 40 megs in size. It's something I wouldn't send too often and I don't believe it exists in many places on the net.

Anyways...

Yes, this is long. I did this with one hand on a keyboard. I may not be as good as some people here, but I don't really care. I do what I want. ^^

If you want the file, unless I can hand you a CD in person, don't bother asking. My internet sucks for uploading, and I don't enjoy paying extra when I go over my bandwidth limits, which I do often enough as is.

Well, that's good to hear, but what's your Screen Name? It doesn't appear in your profile at all. According to an email I have right now, I signed up for one sometime in the past, with the username "PIEBBQ" If I remember right, that was when a friend wanted me to send something to him over AIM, since it apparently had better transfer speeds than MSN Messenger Anyways, I'm logged in, surprisingly, so if you could send it before 5:00 today, it'd be very much appreciated, otherwise I'll have to get it next week sometime

As for the game itself, I took home about 300 more simfiles last night, which gives me a total of 600 something I haven't even done half of them yet. I think I got the song those two guys were playing in the movie Prier linked to (PARANOiA Survivor Max), and tried challenge. I only got a B on it, with the keyboard, when he got an AA on a pad Speaking of them, I just got to looking at EB Games' site for pads that can connect to a PC, and I came across this one as a first result. According to the site, it's compatible with PS2, XBOX, and PC so hopefully the store here in Chatham stocks those. I know they have a few in there, but most of the boxes say something about PS2 only.

Finally, I took another shot at Electric Fields last night, and although my Mom kept asking me how I managed to press the buttons so fast in the part near the end, I managed to get about halfway through it without dying. I still can't do the parts with the orange arrows though. It's sort of like the part with the heaviest concentration of arrows in "Get Down with MAX". I used to think it was impossible, but now I can do it with very little difficulty

As Spel werdz rite has said a couple times though, there will always be people out there that are better than you, so I should't get too confident with what I can do right now

I just make it look easy, right?

Graphics
Actual music
Blank Template SM file

Those are the three things you would need to start making on in SM. The trick is that you actually have to know the BPM of the song (use Goldwave/math or MixMeister BPM Analyzer) and if it changes to keep it on sync. Obviously, you're going to have a hell of a time syncing a file if it changes in BPM ever so slightly. Also, you'd have to know where the song "starts" on Measure 1, also known as the OFFSET that you see in the SM File. All the SM files tend to be are text files.

After you have the basics down, it's just a matter of putting steps to the music and seeing if it remains on sync and if the steps make any sense in the Stepmania Editor. That editor is probably the only thing you'll ever have to use to edit a file past Notepad and it's pretty straightforward in terms of how to use it, just press F1 for help.

Mostly it comes down to:
Left and Right: Changes what to put down (4th-64th note).
Up and Down: Scrolls through whatever the set is on up and down (4th-64th note).
Page Up and Page Down: Scrolls through measures up and down.
1 - 8: Puts a step on based on position (in singles, you won't use 5-8). Press the number again to remove the step; this is universal.
Hold 1 - 8 and press down: Puts a freeze for whatever step based on how long you hold down.
Shift + (1 - 8): Puts a mine on whatever step.

As for the other things:
F4: Ticker. Not the most accurate thing to use but it helps keep your sync relatively together, though you'd be better of playing through the file in the editor and judging it yourself, it's a halfway decent backup.
F7, F8: -/+ BPM at any given time. This is used to note a BPM change. I use this often to fine tune file, based on what I know about it's BPM. You'll have to listen a lot to get it unless it's a file you completely understand the BPM for. Increments in .02 BPM up and down.
F9, F10: -/+ Stops at any given time. Increments of .02 seconds.
F11, F12: Changes universal offset of file. Like I said, changes where measure 1 starts. Increments of .02 seconds.

And a few miscellaneous things:
[ and ] - -/+ music preview length, increments of .02 seconds.
SHIFT + [ and ] - -/+ music preview start. And yes, increments of .02 seconds.

That's basically all I use. After you get the file done, delete the .OLD files and submit a file.

I've got about 3 simfiles I've tried to work on now One's "Our Xenopittan", where I was working on adding Standard steps, as the Heavy ones were too difficult for me (and still are), which is about halfway done. I don't know whether I should submit that to Bemanistyle at all when it's done, as the only thing I'll have added is one difficulty level My art skills, while certainly not the worst I've seen, are definitely not the best either.

The second one was "Slider" from a soundtrack I downloaded a while ago, that had to do something with "Mario Big Band" I can't place where it's from right now, but I think it's from the slides in Mario 64. The BPM is off, I figured it out using the Winamp AVS thing. I've got MixMeister installed now, but I haven't checked the proper BPM of the song yet (I keep typing BMP ).

Finally, the third one, and the most recent I've worked on is titled "Romancing SaGa =Hyper Euro Arrange=. I forget where I downloaded that song, although I have it bookmarked on one of these computers. I've done about the first 20 seconds or so, mostly over the course of last weekend. The problem, even if I get the steps done, is that I don't know the real name of the song (like how some songs have a common name, such as "Boss Battle", while the real name may be entirely different), I've got only a vague idea of the author (the ID3 tag editor in Winamp says something about "hito-ookami"), and, as stated before, my art skills aren't the best in the world.

I obviously played the game quite a bit over the weekend, and I do have a few screenshots to show for my efforts.

First off, we have In the Groove Megamix. I'm pleased with that result, seeing as it's a moderately long song (either 7 or 11 minutes, I can't remember which). On the flip side, however, that isn't the best I could've done, but my keyboard will only accept two arrow keys being pressed at one time, and in certain circumstances, three. That makes a difference in the first third or so of this song, since there's parts like this. That screenshot was taken right near the beginning of the song as well Overall, that's decent in my opinon.

Next is Love Love Shine Survivor Max. Given that I couldn't get above a C on it before, I consider that result to be quite good. I also tried the edit difficulty, and got a B on it. I actually like this version of the song more than the original, which is funny, considering what sort of comments that song got on Bemanistyle

The last one isn't anything too special, as the song isn't really hard (at least I don't find it to be). I refer to Era (3x2 Mix) on heavy. The reason I decided to take a screenshot of that is that it's the closest I've ever come in any song to getting an AAA. Interestingly enough, I had a rather old screenshot in the directory of this song, on the same difficulty, and I still had two "Nice", or whatever it is in the default theme. It makes me wonder what arrows I'm getting that on.

One other thing I forgot to mention on Friday now.

Out of curiosity, what joke files are you talking about? The only one that comes to mind is Love Love Shine Survivor Max, as your comment and the other comments about that song on Bemanistyle seemed to hint at that I obviously don't have a list of simfiles you've made in front of me, but I can't remember any others that seemed to be purposefully bad

And as for what I posted about that pad I saw on EB Games' site the other day, I should've figured that was U.S. only. They have pads for PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube, but they don't have any converters for them. There's one game for Gamecube that comes with a pad, but it doesn't look anything like DDR / StepMania at all. The clerk told me to think about it over the weekend, as they have a deal on right now where you get half off your purchase or something if you trade in 4 Mad Catz (or is it "Katz") products, but first off, I don't have even one, and secondly, I have never traded any games or related items, and I've yet to see a reason to want to.'

I also need to look at getting a new keyboard, possibly which will be used to replace the one we have right now. Reasoning there being that the left and right arrows (on the keyboard), are almost to the point of not working anymore. They only come up about halfway after getting pressed down and released now. The up and down arrows aren't nearly as bad, but they're getting there. Interestingly enough, the "X" from the x key is completely rubbed off, since it gets used in all the emulators on the computer, while the arrows still show. I'm sure that with time, they'll be in the same state as the X though.

Anyhow, that's long enough for now, but I may think of some things I forgot before the end of the day, so don't think that's it from me for now

The Impossible Song 1 and 2. At a time, it used to be on BMS before it was shoo'd off.

Ace has a vid of him so-called beating Heavy on 1 when it fact it was him beating it on .3x rate. Still fucking hard to do on Heavy though.

Impossible Song Heavy is about 2:26 and has about 2200 steps. It's a 15.
Impossible Song 2 Heavy is about 2:22 and has 4000 steps. It's a 16.

EDIT: And DD was OBSESSED with 3x2 back in the day. COMPLETELY obsessed.

EDIT 2: Check BMS. I put them up there. Couldn't care what they rate it.

I don't suppose those songs are anywere else then? I looked on your board (well, I'm assuming it's yours), and found dead links, which isn't too surprising, considering the dates the threads were posted on I also noticed something you said in the forum announcement for the DDR board: "A few, like Impossible Song 1 and 2, you will need to PM me for as BMS does not like joke files". Does that mean I'd have to register there, then PM you, or does it even apply anymore? I realize they're not the easiest simfiles you've done, but I'd still like to get them if possible

As for the obsession with that song, why exactly was he obsessed with it? The only thing I can see is doing it repeatedly, until you get the highest rank possible on it, but then there would be nothing else to try to achieve on it (unless you get desperate and try to get all perfects instead of marvelous, or whatever the other themes call it)

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I can do Electric Fields now, without using AutoPlay in certain parts, or slowing the song down. I've yet to get higher than a B on it, however. I can only do it two or three times before my three fingers start hurting. Well, it seemed that way yesterday, but I also did PARANOiA iNSANiTY =Full= a couple times That's obviously better than I could do before though

Edit: It would appear that while I was typing this, you made another edit to your post, so ignore the first paragraph
