Well, I do have an 8mBit/s connection shared with a friend.

KOF 99 took around 3-5 minutes to download.

Do either of them work? I had problems with graphics decompression all the time.

What files specifically? Are they in the ZIP file themself and it's just MAME isn't seeing it? Also, do you have the ROM directory set right?

*Looks at how many posters are on this 20 post page...* Hmmm, just 2 of them. Alright, I'm not gonna rub that in of course. There would be no point though, but I guess while I'm in here... maybe you guys could help Fyxe out with the sound problem... Just an outburst, that's all.

Well, i'm having sound problems myself with Donkey kong. Certain samples are missing, and I know that they are there since I played Donkey Kong before. The arcade version...

But well, there is some sound thought. I have no idea what Fyxe's problem could be... Screwing around with Donkey Kong now, before I test the Darkslayers ROM I got from Trapster. Wierd how a game that is probably is easy to emulate have missing samples.

Well, I don't know either. I'm afraid that if I tried out MAME to see what the sound problem is with this computer, it would go into some meltdown phase and never boot up again... Not a lot of space left and not a lot of good hardware in it. An 8 MB video card is about as good as a penny or anything like that these days...

Better than the on-board crap I had and I was running the 70 megs KOF99 just fine.

I wish my connection was good enough to allow me the time to download such things, but no, I'm stuck with dial-up =/

...And you're letting that limit you?

Not to brag, but I've DL'd entire volumes of manga with my old 56K. Sailor Moon stuff at 1.08 GB of length I took days to DL it. Not direct connect and resumed many times but I did it.

The slower connection you have, the more patience do you need it seems.

I can still use a 56k connection without a problem anyway, it's when it comes to downloading things when it get's very very slow. :/

Most site layouts are made for 56K, althought some people start to forget about that.

I can't stand 56K anymore. I've had DSL for too long, already know the problems with it, and now using someone's half-speed 56K it's like...holy...shit...can't be...active.

Course, back in the day, a half-speeder was enough to score me Wooster's on here so.

Kinda like me waiting for XP SP2 to install on my old Celeron 300 last night.

It took about... 5 hours, counting other Windows Update patches as well. Thankfully I wasn't sitting in front of that machine the whole time.

See, that's why you get the comp in a relative close place to a TV or some form of entertainment. If you have to wait for a while, then either use IM or go play on the PS2 or whatever medium of entertainment you have access to while you wait. Won't kill you to take a break while your comp does maintainence.

Turn off layouts or use a browser with better caching, such as opera or Firefox.

Bouche said that he noticed a big diffrence on Firefox with his 56K connection.

I have a TV rather close to the computer, but I rather play something on a emulator than watching TV. TV sucks.

...I was sitting in front of THIS computer, Hiryuu.

Thankfully the USB adaptor for the router WORKS on that... surprised the hell out of me. And it picks up an excellent signal too.

LIKE I SAID TAKE A BREAK OFF YOUR ASS!

But there's not like there's a whole bunch you can do during that time anyways. And why do you need your old Celery out again anyways? Figure your new comp's going to crack before my 4-year-old does?

I need my Celery (which I named as such - so it's funny to see "celery" in the router list) so that my PARENTS can use the Internet and that.

Trust me, I'd rather toss it.
